  1. Watch yourself Nigel, they are a proper odd lot up that end of the restaurant..
  2. Carl do you have any stats from back then, number of meetings, most successful driver, shale/tarmac split, horse power …..??!! Don`t bring that up Keith - it was bad enough the last time we discussed `left turn` Messala and him firing opponents into parked chariots.....
  3. I`m not an expert on these things but am I detecting a hint of sarcasm here...
  4. http://www.startrax.info/Meetings/Preview/2019/05/06/Belle%20Vue First race minis - I have read somewhere it could be 3.15pm but that was off a friends profile on FB.
  5. Here`s an example of one of these low turnout meetings, starting late on a Bank Holiday that was not worth going to turned out - assuming the halfwit watching knew what he was actually talking about.... http://f1stockcars.com/meeting-reports/belle-vue-2nd-may-2016-meeting-report-and-photo-gallery/
  6. There are one or two points to this. Bangers pull the general public in and thats what the average family with kids like to see - if it gets them in and gets the gate numbers up it makes the general financial situation of running a meeting (ie the Brisca F1 circus) more viable then so be it. I`m not a great fan of the 1600cc bangers, having said that at the last meeting they were really entertaining with some proper crash, bang, wallop, you`re going into the fence racing. Both Belle Vue and Sheffield to run on a Saturday night with the F1`s I think there would be great, both in crowd numbers and F1`s in attendance - under lights it would be great - they are both dog tracks so much as we may wish for it, it`s not going to happen. Lastly, the last Belle Vue meeting was perhaps not the best (it lacked a few star graders tbh - in my opinion if it counts for anything) but look back at the Meeting reviews on both Stoxnet and the meeting write ups on F1Stockcars.com and the racing has been superb at the place for now a few years with numbers normally at the late 20`s to mid 30`s with car numbers. You don`t need big car numbers at the place to generate great racing....I could put links galore of the past DoD threads to prove my point but generally has served up some great action packed racing. Once it has gone it`s gone - support it while we can
  7. . I will however see you at Birmingham, your preferred surface . What, what, Eh,what`s that............have they finally seen the light and stuck shale down
  8. Lundy attending - big question, can Riggerman do another meeting at home going through `cold turkey`.
  9. Question is how do you restrict the bookings - Assuming 55/60 Dutch drivers come across for the Friday night meeting (also to then go to Northampton on Sunday) you then have 55/60 Dutch transporters there anyway - where do they go Saturday. You get a regular 40/45 cars at a normal F1 meeting anyway, so I guess 55 UK wanting to book in or minimum 45 as you can hardly turn down the regular UK attenders?? - woe betide you turn any down, once a handfull of drivers say they cannot get a booking on FB watch the fans then up in arms that you are turning F1`s away. It would be a great idea to have the loons as a support if the logistics of it all come good but as this is the first shale WF for 3 years and Northampton is now shale so I guess there are going to be an awfull lot of drivers from Europe wanting to come across and race. Also as Riggerman has pointed out what is happening with the last chance qualifiers race?? The votes on here do not appear many but there are an awfull lot on FB already voted so if the fans come out in a majority support of the loons as support, assuming you want to come clean with the figures you have gone and created a rod for your own back. I`m going anyway
  10. Nailed it - it`s a business at the end of the today. This is the first year that you will have (I assume) a Friday night and Saturday meeting and then all up clogs (forgive the pun) to the shaleway for the masters. I`ll be very surprised if you were not rammed to the rafters with Dutch fans and drivers. I`d have thought it comes more down to operating logistics and pit space (assuming no restrictions on F1`s) rather than anything else. Mind you as there has been a `poll` with a simple yes or no answer set up on the Brisca Oval FB page are you just going with the result of that anyway.....`will of the fans` .... `Saloons means Saloons` ...etc, etc
  11. I`ve seen there is to be an interview in the programme as well...........pictures, interview, out on track, Christ if they play The Smiths the R/R will be nigh on infinite..?? don't get too excited about the interview, the bloke who put it together is a joker... At least it gets put together - plenty out there willing to criticize but not step forward...bit like the AUTOMATICALLY DELETED WORD commentator comments, been there, done it when I did a bit of car auctioneering in the past, its not easy. Anyway back on topic, I hope there are going to be questions on what tractors John uses....
  12. I`ve seen there is to be an interview in the programme as well...........pictures, interview, out on track, Christ if they play The Smiths the R/R will be nigh on infinite..??
  13. Unfortunately things change - other areas of income need to be investigated and yes, to a certain extent exploited - if the promoters had the crowd numbers that went a few years ago then all this would not probably be needed. To be honest I suspect Skegness are going along the lines of Kings Lynn, be sensible and we do not mind, take the mickey and it`s another matter. Also as Rod says just walk out to the car - however I suspect reading various comments on other forums and FB that many would expect the promoter to supply a chauffeur driven Golf buggy service if you needed to do this .. The link to the diabetic case is also interesting...... if you read all of it. Judging by what it says the organiser has the right to deny the lady to take in a bottle of lucozade, but as they did not have any at the bar or the medical centre / team did not carry any for use by a type 1 diabetic (or directed her to the medical centre) then that is what they did wrong.
  14. Derek, last time I came back from Kinross (BCA) the new bridge was open but the old one is closed and being fettled/re-furbed so I suspect there will be long queues to get over. If you go via Glasgow, the other route is M80 - M876 - A876 into Kinross then head down to Cowdie area. Never done this route at rush hour but its an easy (and pleasant) drive during the day. Done it a few times from BCA Glasgow to BCA Kinross. Cheers Andy
  15. Serious question - apart from needing to know the ingredients for the gravy and is it tar/shale.. Which is the best way from North - AA route planner says 3hrs 10 from Holmfirth via A1 / A14 BUT 4 hrs via Lynn (A17). Normally Lynn is about 2 hr 20 for me and I`m guessing an hour from Lynn ?? I`m tempted with Lynn route - anyone any ideas or done route before, never been to Mildenhall. Cheers Andy
  16. I`d take your own gravy in a flask Carl, if they have it I suspect being that far South it will be some watery vegetarian concoction lacking the essential nutrients and vitamins us Northerners have come to rely on in gravy - ie lard with extra thick dripping and boiled down cows hoof.
  17. Never been, is it a super clean tar track with huge grip and speed or one of those nasty, mucky, murky and dusty shale tracks where the cars are sideways in the corners, bashing each other and ruining the overall spectacle??
  18. The track looks fine and all roads across the pennines are open bar Woodhead pass and Snake Pass. Everything is all ok across in Manchester - just looks a bit cold that's all - it is going to be wrap up warm job, I`ve heard some of the North East and Scottish travellers are considering bringing two T shirts and warm Tennants / Newcastle Brown its that cold.....
  19. Thanks for the update but a suggestion Jeremy to get the R/R up to a 6 (or higher ) - if you were to keep the chips in the hot trophies..................... See you all on Sunday everyone.
  20. Last months booking list for the Lynn Saturday meeting did not appear till the Thursday before the meeting..... ......and the previous month in August it was out on Weds, a whole day earlier. Absolute disgrace it not being released yet on, Errr, Thursday lunch
  21. Bryan, the last meeting there at Belle Vue, the W/Y`s was a stand alone race to start the meeting. The Whites and yellows then go into the two heats to qualify for the final or into the consolation. I assume it will be two heats of 20 cars each and first 10 finishers to the final from the 2 heats and consolation - at least that is how the last meeting ran. Andy
  22. It was built in 1973 and had various promoter changes over the years.
