Press release from Startrax Well for a Monday list, that's a pretty encouraging start when allied to BriSCA F2 entries. Bradley Harrison provides that connection right back to 1954 - Amongst the stars booked in, already we have the 'girls on Tour star' and nemesis Dan Johnson plus a very welcome return from Nigel Green, a formidable force and some quality names already in the line up! FWJ is a notable absentee at the moment after steering box issues at Mildenhall and then an engine rattle to check out which ended his night in Suffolk. Hopeful the popular Sheffield ace will join the list later in week - fingers crossed! Team Hines and Team Hunter are quick around Sheffield and Danny Wainman will be looking for connectivity with yet another vital World Qualifying round.! Mark Gilbank, I predict the man to beat around Owlerton along with sone Liam and a huge boost in seeing the Flying Finn back on the grid. Locally, interest will be high in the brand new Maw 409 machine and his switch from V8's to BriSCA F1! It has all the ingredients of being a big occasion! Don't forget to support B.O.S.S. fund raisers AND The Save Belle Vue Campaign!

65 YEARS - NOT OUT! Sheffield Sunday 14th April Can it really be 65 years since Stock Car Racing debuted at Sheffield ? The answer is YES and in that first season seven events were staged with eleven in 1955 - and three of those Finals that year won by a certain legend of the area, Willie Harrison. Since then, the stadium went through many 'up's and downs and it was 1976 before it was to explode again on to the scene for several years until the capacity was drastically reduced after new safety legislation following Hillsborough. It was then 1996 when it re-opened, under Startrax after current owners A&S Leisure invested heavily - and over the decades have continued to do so resulting facilities wise in one of the UK's finest stadiums. This Sunday sees the ground shake again as the 2019 campaign gets underway for the Big League BriSCA F1 Stock Cars and a huge entry of BriSCA F2 Stock Cars promising a non stop afternoon of full contact action. FENLAND THUNDER EXPECTED THIS SATURDAY! Meeting Preview ‘Saturday night is Race Night’ at Mildenhall Stadium this coming Saturday 6th April, when Spedeworth / Mildenhall Motorsports proudly presents one of the most anticipated meetings of the season on the West Row Shale. It was hailed as one of ‘The Meetings’ of the year last year and the same is expected this Saturday as we sit back and enjoy the return of the mighty Brisca F1 Stock Cars for a World Championship Qualifying Round, the Brisca V8 Stock Cars in the John Cotterill Memorial and the National Ministox competing in both a white and yellow grade Championship Qualifier and the Protech Challenge qualifier bringing Race Fans another fantastic night of full contact racing at the Suffolk Shaleway. We start with the Brisca F1 Stock Cars, competing here in their first of two visits in 2019. For those of you who were here last year, their racing on the tight oval was quite fast and spectacular and more of the same is expected this time as they battle for points for World Championship qualification. Their 2019 season began last week at nearby Kings Lynn with a heat and consolation win for John Wright, Heat for Mark Sargeant, Nigel Green a Heat and Final Double with Dan Johnson the Grand National. Current World Champion Stuart Smith Jnr is still taking time out the sport to recover from injury but we have seen the return of Mick Sworder and a host of ‘young guns’ wanting to mix it with the established star drivers. With lots of cars, unlimited power and a small oval, the ingredients for full action – packed Stock Car Racing are perfect at Mildenhall. Local hopes will be with Russ Cooper and Willie Skoyles Jnr. Moving on to the Brisca V8 Stock Cars, it is a full weekends racing for them as they also appear in Sunday’s I – factor meeting here too. Their 2019 European Championship is staged here in June so we are expecting a bumper entry to make the most of the weekend and set – up opportunity. If you have not seen these before, they are slightly less powered than there F1 Cousins, but these Drivers know how to get stuck in and you can be sure the action will come thick and fast! To complete the Billing, the National Ministox is where the future stars of Oval Motorsport can be found. The Youth Policy of Brisca allows Drivers of between eleven and fifteen years of age to begin their racing careers in the Ministox and these boys and girls hold nothing back in entertaining Race Fans! Racing starts at 5:00pm, with turnstiles opening at 3:30pm. Facilities include covered Grandstands, banked terracing and catering outlets serving our world famous fish and chips and a number of other tasty snacks. Don’t forget to visit the Matt Bull Trackshop for all your souvenir full colour new Race Meeting Programmes, your favourite merchandise and – not to mention Matt’s superb photos for sale. The Stadium also has plenty of toilets, ample car parking and spectator access to the pit area. If you enjoy your visit, how about treating a friend to one of our Race Meetings by purchasing one of our Spedeworth / Incarace Experience Vouchers so they too can join in the fun? Please call our Aldershot Office on 01252 322920 for further details! If you haven’t visited Mildenhall Stadium before, this meeting promises to be the perfect reason to attend and could be just the excuse needed to visit us as we look forward to you joining us on Saturday evening at Mildenhall Raceway! -

2019 BriSCA F1 World Championship @ King's Lynn
Carl H replied to Trackstar's topic in Essential Information
Interesting idea but not sure it would work in the current climate. It could be good if the tracks were closer, but Ipswich is about 2 hours from King's Lynn. Team racing has been tried several times before and it just doesn't seem to work. -
Have done, although it was correct when I posted it (this thread is a year old!)

Nothing else to add since last Boxing Day...

Go on, then. And on this day, 18th December, there was a meeting at Cradley Heath, but no results are known. If anyone knows who won, please get in touch.
-
My On This Day posts seemed to go down quite well last year (well, there were hardly any complaints ) so I thought I might do a few more now it's the closed season again. There's only one meeting known to have taken place on 9th December, and that was at Aldershot in 1954. The Final was won by 88 L Thompson from Farnborough. Like many of the drivers from the early days, not much is known about them. If anyone happens to have any more info about him/her, or photos, please send it in my direction. (And 85n525's )

You're right, he's not on the list. There's also a couple more drivers that I've heard might be racing, but they're not on the list either. So it might actually get to a booking list of 70!
