Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium, built in 1926 and one of the longest serving welcomes families back for a Bank Holiday sensation of CRASH!BANG!WALLOP! and the wackiest race of all, the Caravan Demolition Derby! The stadium offers great facilities with a huge Raceview all weather, glass fronted and seated Grandstand, plus covered accommodation and fast food, licensed bars and even a traditional sweet shop! You can view in comfort at no extra charge or get close up trackside and literally feel the ground shake! The colour, spectacle and action has to be seen to be believed – bring your camera phones! You will talking for days – and a picture tells a thousand words and you can win a prize by sharing your experience on LOVE STARTRAX What we nickname the GLADIATORS are the UK’s most powerful brutes of short circuit motor sport, 600 bhp fire breathing American ‘muscle’ and torque Chevvy engines –LOUD & PROUD – Big cars – big wings – huge power with big bumpers back and front designed to be used to move the competition aside – and ex World Champion Nigel Green makes a return visit just to get things right after last months visit – And he has some great Northern competition from Northern champions Frankie and Danny Wainman, Southports Will Hunter, top BriSCA and USA Outlaw Sprint car ace Tom Harris – the hottest wheels in the city amongst others including the Tesselaar brothers from Holland with Jelle well placed to cause upset at Kirky Lane from past victories. But then we have the BriSCA F2 Warriors, the smaller brothers of BriSCA F1 – pinto powered and Europes’ biggest short oval race division. Big grids of superfast cars in full contact sideways action and too many top exponents of true grit racing on the grid but perhaps the biggest boots and personality of all from Cambridgeshire is Dave Polley [ 38 ] who always has a point to prove! And then we have might Ninja Warriors, the pilots of the National Ministox – robustly and carefully constructed 1000cc Ministox, highly armoured with a Spaceframe chassis built for full contact action, piloted by kids, girls and boys – aged 11 to 16 years of age at which they retire and many move into the aformentioned racing disciplines as stars of the future. These whizz kids come from all parts of the UK far and wide but ‘top of the class’ World Champion is Chorley boy Jack Witts. The Kids race outside the UK also, Isle of Man to Holland during their season! TO add some anarchy, we have the Banger boys, MOT rejects, end of life cars out for one last gasp before they depart in style to that great scrap yard in the Sky, BANGER RACING! Local boy Paul Manning from ‘up’ the road from the stadium is one of the stalwarts of the game. Simple rule – win, no one remembers second, and even a good crash comes before a win and a trophy to most! Last but certainly not least is the downright Wacky,Zany and insane Caravan Demolition Derby – The old tortoise shells are towed at speed by cars with the hilarious consequences are they are crashed, rolled and literally destroyed before your very eyes! This is a one off spectacular not to be missed! A GREAT REVENGE when you have been stuck behind one on narrow country lanes for miles or blow over on Motorways delaying your travel – Retribution, a few more flattened and as seen on Top Gear! Don’t miss this great family spectacular! 11. On this day in 1955, this photo appeared as part of an article in Picture Post, which was a photo-journalistic magazine. This is Tanya Crouch, pictured racing the day before at the Neath Abbey track near Swansea. Note the ruins of the abbey in the background... and the car still has a windscreen and what looks like a tax disc!

  20. The now traditional Good Friday meeting at Skegness. Friday 19th April 6.00pm (note early start time than last year) Good Friday race meeting at Skegness Stadium, with a 6-00pm start time. On the bill are Brisca F1 & F2 and National Mini Stox & special feature National Hot Rods. Joining our commentary team for Good Friday is David Addison from ITV4 and the British Touring Cars. The return of the National Hot Rods to Skegness Raceway, it is 8 years (2011) since Whistling Jack Smith was played over the pa here at Skeggy for the rolling lap music. We welcome the formula back to the track that the drivers really love to race at, often four abreast as they race at tremendous speed around this superb circuit. What could be better than seeing these specialised & highly tuned cars, the fastest formula on the ovals under the lights here at Skeggy. Around 30 cars are expected with World Champion Billy Wood and recently crowded European Champion Jason Kew. The Brisca F1 Stock Cars return for another full season of racing, considered by some to be the pinnacle of contact racing, purpose built, open wheeled single seaters built for contact. Big Cars, big noise, big trills & spills. This meeting is also the first tarmac meeting of the season with many new cars on track. Also back again for their regular Good Friday slot are the Brisca F2 stock cars. Early booking include from Scotland World & National Points Champion Gordon Moodie and Dennis Middler. Southwest Superstar Matt Stoneman and localish Andrew Palmer who plans on doing the Good Friday Double. First time out in 2019 at Skeggy for the National Mini Stox, dont be fooled by the age of these drivers, ( 11yrs to 16yrs) plenty of action & bumper work. Lots of new faces in the Mini Stox & trophies supplied by Stockcar Journal. Skegness Raceway boast fantastic facilities. Our new superbly appointed heated Panorama Raceview Bar is open for business, and all the family are welcome to come in and watch the racing from here, the view of the track is tremendous. With Easter here, we can never tell what the weather will be, if necessary the heating will be on & you can watch the racing from behind the large glass windows and not miss any of the action.
