That's a good point. For instance..... the 2012 World Final at Skegness was cheaper for me and my lad to get in than the Semi Final at Birmingham, and by a considerable amount.

Start times are a definite factor for declining crowds and probably drivers too. A long time ago now, I used to work 6 hours on a Saturday, then set off at 3.30pm and get to Coventry in plenty of time for the 7.15pm start. The earlier and earlier start times just mean less and less time in which to get there.

I recall this being tried at Sheffield years ago. A quid to go in the pits. The idea was to reduce the number of people in the pits. It didn't work, everybody just paid the quid and then vented their fury on the internet for the rest of the week. Charging for something that clearly does not cost anything and that your customers are accustomed to not paying for is only going to sour relations with the paying public. For example, RyanAir's policy of charging extra for everything hasn't exactly endeared them to anyone. I once paid them over £600 for four £35 plane tickets. It's not the actual cost that annoyed me (it was still a reasonable price), it's the feeling that I'd been ripped off. The best solution (other than leaving things as they are) would be to knock the £2 off the admission price for those that don't want to go in the pits. Obviously that's not going to happen.

They aren't. It might seem like that if you look at promotional material aimed at F1 fans, e.g. the meeting previews on here and the stuff produced by the BSCDA. Adverts in the banger magazines for F1 + Bangers used to just say "plus BriSCA F1" in small letters. And adverts in the local press don't necessarily focus on F1, they tend to just say "stock car racing" and emphasise what is most likely to appeal to Joe Public and his 2.2 kids - caravan race, fireworks, stunt show, whatever.

F1 plus F2 Start time 5pm That's all the info I can find!

Startrax press release Let Startrax entertain the family this half term Bank Holiday Monday with the ultimate thrills and excitement of short oval motorsport! Come rain or shine, Manchester’s Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium has all weather facilities with a 2000+ all seater raceview Grandstand, glass fronted and a great atmospheric place to watch the action unfold in comfort complete with fast food catering and licensed bars. It’s a great family event and atmosphere and get caught up in the adrenalin rush! Top of the show are the electrifying and ground shaking BriSCA F1 Stock Cars back in action and with vital track and Startrax Championship points which will climax later in the year. If you haven’t seen the Big League before, you are in for a treat, big winged cars with huge American Chevvy horsepower, loads of torque and bumpers back and front to move the competition. This isn’t Banger racing – hits are tactical but fast and furious, often with spectacular consequences and it’s all about accumulating points in season long championships and ultimately winning. This really is the power and the glory of oval racing with so much power the ground quite literally shakes! In the points hunt, amazingly Matt Newson leads the count with a stellar start to the year, absolutely stunning vein an illness looked like wrecking his 2019 campaign during the late Winter but around the Vue he has enjoyed tremendous form. Trailing him by just 9 points is returnee and former World Champion Nigel Green, again dialled in well to Kirky lane. Third place sits Belle Vue regular and popular driver Danny Wainman. Challenging in fourth is budget racer Karl Hawkins. Veteran driver John Lund sits a credible 7th whilst NPC Junior Wainman sits 5th with some ground to make up whilst Tom Harris also remains in the mix despite missing the April opener. In support, we have pinto powered BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars – smaller, sleeker cars, but with a different power to weight ratio, these cars are rapid and usually with big grids of cars and full contact, be assured the racing is spectacular and evenly contested. At the time of writing an impressive line up is assembling with, topping the entry list regular winners Courtney Finnikin from Leek, Cambridgeshires’ Andrew Palmer together with Sheffields’ Ford family And then, we have the Whizz Kidz and back to the future! Started at Long Eaton in the 1980’s National Ministox have spanned four decades creating BriSCA F1 and F2’s current top race aces. Where do we start and finish but to name a few, Craig Finnikin, all the Wainman family, Matt Newson, Tom Harris – the list goes on considerably. These kids start racing in purposely constructed spaceframed Mini bodied cars from the age of 11 and retire at 16 with the majority gaining considerable experience and joining mainstream ‘adult’ formulae where quickly they rise through the ranks! However, the may be kids but the action is extremely ‘adult’ – fast, furious and full contact and hugely competitive with current top dog being local ace and Champion Jack Witts being the one to beat! Make sure you watch them! Lastly we have something completely different to provide some fun and for the first time we have the SUV Bangers – Sports utlity Vehicles, to you and me, smashing their way to destruction. A first time event here at Belle Vue for them Monday and they end with a Demolition Derby! It all ends up as a great day for the family, young and old – a high octane, adrenalin spectacular and unlike most sports, you can visit the pits, have a chat close up with the stars, photograph the cars and feel ‘part of the show’ – It’s pulsating action! Why not make your day special, if you are in a group of have a special occasion, a birthday, would like to propose!!! Contact us and we can arrange for you to present a trophy and get a mention! On the day! Stadium car park opens 1.pm Gates open [ turnstiles ] 1/45/pm Racing starts at 3.30.pm Admission – No advance booking required simply pat at the gate, debit . credit card welcome!
