Gary's car at the Ormskirk Motor Fest this weekend. It's the former 293 car, raced earlier this year by 101 Tristan Jackson. (Gary's nephew, as per the info from Keith earlier in this thread). (Paul Greenwood pic)
-
Not sure it was a Wainman car but there was 42 Alan Jackson from Chester, who won Novice Of The Year in 1986. Think he had the 510 Chevy that went into Andy Smith's first F1?
-
On a similar note... does Nigel Green move house every season? The last few years he's been listed as being from Gilmorton, Bruntingthorpe, and now Sutton-in-the-Elms.
-
Assuming it's the same guy, 423 Gary Jackson is a V8 Hotstox driver and is from Chester.

Press release from BSCDA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL AT KING’S LYNN – SPONSORED BY BUSINESS FINANCE BROKERS LTD The BSCDA at delighted to announce that the World Championship semi-final at King’s Lynn this Saturday is sponsored by Business Finance Brokers Ltd. The company is interlinked with BriSCA F1. A number of BriSCA F1 drivers have used Business Finance Brokers Ltd within their own businesses, including Ben Hurdman and Mal Brown, with hire purchase, business leasing and contract hire the company’s speciality. Kevin Ayres, company CEO and his cousin Peter, also a director, are big fans of BriSCA F1, and have been regular racegoers for the past 35 years. BriSCA F1 legends Stuart Smith and John Lund are personal favourites during that time and, having enjoyed and supported the sport for many years, they are a welcome addition to BriSCA F1 this season. The World Championship semi-final at King's Lynn has all the makings of a classic. Stuart Smith Jnr starts on pole position, The current National Points and British champion is hot favourite to win the race, but Mat Newson, who starts alongside him on the front row, will be hell-bent to win the race. Newson has yet to win a major title, but came agonisingly close last month when leading the British Championship at Belle Vue until the last bend. It was Smith Jnr, struggling to keep within striking distance of the Norfolk star throughout the race, who threw caution to the wind on the last lap and successfully connected with Newson with a last-bend lunge to take the title. Newson was left high and dry and out of a podium finish. “I have got nothing to lose,” said Newson. “ My Tarmac form isn’t as good as I had hoped this season so I don’t have high expectations at Skegness. All I want to do is enjoy my racing tonight and win the semi-final. That would be good enough for me.” Immediately behind Newson is Mark Sargent, who is having his best season in F1. Sargent is a local hero, living in Spalding, along with his 16-year-old son Finn, who starts at the back of the grid in his first semi-final. “We think Finn could be the youngest ever driver to qualify for a World Championship semi-final,” said Sargent. “King's Lynn is my local track and so I hope the reception will be electric. We’re both excited about it. We get great support here and so it would be fantastic if we both made it into the World Final. I have never qualified for one so that would be amazing.” Sargent starts on the outside of the second row, with Newson in front of him and “The Hitman” Tom Harris lining up behind him on row three. “I’m the filling in a superstar sandwich,” said Sargent. “I have Mat in front of me and Tom immediately behind. But we’ll pull our straps down tight and away we go.” But before he does that, however, he hopes his friend and car builder, Newson, can get his car ready for the big race after suffering plenty of damage last weekend as a result of a fencing by fellow semi-final rival Ryan Harrison on Saturday. “The front axle, back axle, two hubs, two shock absorbers and rear tyre were all wrecked,” he said. “It was on the second lap. “But Mat and his family are phenomenal. We got on really well from day one and he has looked after me. He has been brilliant with us. He will have the car ready for Saturday.” The 2013 world champion Harris will be gunning for his first start in a World Final since 2016, but will also have his mind focused on the United States, where he competes in the Knoxville Nationals for the first time in a 410 winged Sprint Car. Harris flies out to the States on Sunday morning and starts his quest for glory on Thursday. Further back on the grid on row six 2011 world champion Paul Harrison makes his first start on shale this season using his son Bradley’s shale car. “I shan’t be losing any sleep over it either way," said Harrison. "I’ve been there and done that". “But if I get a good finish I don’t think you necessarily need the fastest car to win at Skegness. Luck plays a massive part in the World Final at most tracks and Skegness last time [in 2012] when Lee Fairhurst won from the back of the grid proved it even more so.” With hard men Mark Gilbank, a final winner at the track in 2017 on the inside of row four, and Ryan Harrison starting on row five, it has all the makings of an eventful semi-final. The evening’s racing begins at 5pm on Saturday and features the 2-litre Saloon stock cars and BriSCA F2s alongside the BriSCA F1s.

I asked Startrax about their advance tickets: Startrax have exactly the same policy as King's Lynn in terms of refunds or allowing those who may ultimately not being able to attend options. We are [ I think ] the only promotion that offers season tickets, it is very difficult to do one just for F1 - we do ours that allow access to every date we run and a free programme and have to say they are well supported, When we trialled one for F1 back in the days of Bradford, interest was less than 5! We are pleased to see many season ticket holders at a number of non F1 events, it pleases us as they are getting value for money from the tickets

I've also had a no quibble refund of advance tickets for a KL meeting that I ultimately couldn't attend. It's possible that the people in the box office at the track don't have the facility/ability/authorisation to refund tickets there and then (especially if you've bought them online - nobody gives a cash refund for purchases made by card, PayPal, etc).

BUMPER EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND IN STORE The first European Championship run on shale since the inaugural event in 1978 takes place at Northampton Shaleway this weekend as reigning European Champion Nigel Green sets out to defend his title. Back in 1978 the event was a two-leg affair, held at Long Eaton and Rochdale, with Stuart Smith taking the crown after a run-off with Mike Close. This year Green will be having his first outing on shale since the National Points Shootout finale at Belle Vue last November, and he will be competing in his white shale car, which was last seen out the year before at the same Shootout Finale meeting. There are currently 60 cars booked in over the two-day meeting, including 15 drivers from the Netherlands, the biggest foreign entry for the European for some years. The meeting kicks off at the earlier start-time of 2.30pm on Saturday with the BSCDA Trust Fund race, won last year by Scott Davids. But much of the talk leading up to the weekend has been focused on the track itself, with promoter Deane Wood working tirelessly to get the shale surface up to scratch after dust created issues with drivers and fans at the first meeting on shale at the venue for World Championship qualifying round in June. Since then a number of cars have been back to Northampton to test out the surface, beginning last Friday, with last year’s European Championship 1-2, Green and Ryan Harrison leading the way, along with Will Yarrow and Kyle Gray. Initially, the dust returned, and despite the fact it had settled later in the day, extreme temperatures during the past month were causing major issues with the surface. Wood sort the advice of King’s Lynn shale track guru Buster Chapman. “He basically said to me “You’ve got to dig it all up and start again,”” said Wood. “So that’s what I did.” So, in a race against time, Wood set about relaying the shale track using the advice of Chapman and he now believes he has the racing surface heading in the right direction. “Any track will struggle with the weather we are having,” said Wood. “But apart from a couple of bumps, fingers crossed I think it will be OK.” Wood’s main fear is forecasted thunderstorms due on Friday. “What I don’t want to see now though is a major storm flooding the track,” he said. Both Green and Harrison tested the track on Tuesday and both were positive with the result. “With regards to dust the track is fine,” said Green. “It was a bit bumpy but that is not a big issue. There will be lots of crashes as the track is narrow and you end up racing on a wider line. It should be an entertaining weekend. He just needs to keep that moisture in the track.” “It was definitely a lot better,” said Harrison. With the weather forecast over the weekend slightly cooler than of late, the weekend should be more comfortable for drivers and fans alike with two days of hard and almost certainly dramatic racing on the cards. James Morris won his first final at the June meeting and will be will be hoping to feature again over the weekend, and reigning National Points and British Champion Stuart Smith Jnr, who ended the June meeting with victory in the Grand National after a forceful drive, will be searching for his first European title. Smith Jnr is in tip-top form on shale this season, with four final victories, including his dramatic last-gasp win in the British Championship at Belle Vue. If Smith Jnr is successful in his Euro bid, he will be one title away from a clean-sweep of major championship honours, with the World Championship missing from his trophy cabinet. However, there will be plenty of top-line stars trying to stop him, including Mat Newson. Yet to win a major title, Newson came agonisingly close at Belle Vue when just a quarter of a lap away of taking the British, before Smith Jnr pounced. Two-time European champion Dan Johnson will also be a major threat. Johnson won his first final of the season on the Tarmac at Skegness two weeks ago and also won the first heat on the Northampton shale in June. Frankie Wainman Jnr is another multiple European champion, having won the event three times during his career, and with shale being his most successful surface this season with three final wins, the 46-year-old will undoubtedly be one of the favourites to take the crown. The BriSCA F2s are also on the card, competing for their European Championship, along with the Rebels. On Saturday the racing starts at 2.30pm and 12 noon on Sunday. There will be also plenty of post-meeting entertainment in store on Saturday night, including live music and karaoke.
