  1. This is very much a Marmite track. it's more high speed racing than Stock Cars, but i love this annual event. It allows the tarmac specials to perform to their full potential. The minis are frighteningly fast . It must be an absolutely massive kick for the under 16's to open up on this track. Plus, it's the only time each year that i see National Hot Rods, which look amazing, and the lads look like they're auditioning to join the next big Boyband ! Looking forward to it as always. If only we had the usual tarmac Northampton Sunday the next day !
  2. Why Ozzy - You working ? (sent you a PM by the way) Bazzer - From your post, i'm guessing you have 3 kids between 8 & 15 years old. (£22 + 22 + 8 + 8 + 8) Only my personal opinion, but when i think how much i've paid for one person at the last 4 World Finals, I don't think £68 for 5 entries at the 2nd biggest event of the year is that bad . Plus this meeting has 2 other British Championships. For me, £22 for all on offer, is an absolute bargain .................... and i ain't rich ! The cost of petrol return is more than £22 Looking back, the prices are the same as Belle Vue's British 2018, BUT the free kid's ages are different.
  3. 53 cars (at this stage) has exceeded my expectations. Brilliant Maybe some additions to come, like 197 perhaps Wish we could have a GN as the icing on the cake
  4. £22 for 3 Championship races seems pretty good to me. I'm hopefully taking a first timer to this one. Never really studied the stats closely until now. Some surprises there for me. Stu Smith (Snr) was so dominant in the 70's, it's hard to believe he didn't win a single British in that decade, of the 8 staged. Another shock none winner is Rob Speak. There's one more , but i'll not mention his name as i don't want to tempt fate. I'm already bored that no-one seems to want (or able ?) to challenge him on shale this year.
  5. Due to sadly being on holiday for Kings Lynn World Final, this is the biggest event of the year for me. Hednesford has produced 3 of thee best World Finals I've ever seen ('88, '91, '95). So it's a very special place for me. The weekender of '88 will (probably) never be surpassed. I'd love to see the entry reach over 50, but weird things have been happening with car numbers this year. So many drivers are quick on the hard stuff right now, the top men will have to work extra hard for Final grid points. And to add to this, the following weekend is another of my fave annual events, Ipswich. Fantastic race track & stadium. June is bustin out all over for me .............................
  6. Cheers Miner . I must make a point of going to see them No-one will ever invest in improving Northampton, as a decent facility for the paying punter. It's been said many times that the Promoter doesn't own it . So why would they lash out ? For some weird reason, the fact it's almost exactly as it was back in 1971 when i went there as a lad, makes it appeal to me.
  7. http://www.spedeworth.co.uk/incarace/bookedin.php?id=1423 Whilst looking at tomorrow's F1 meeting at Northampton on the Incarace website, i stumbled upon a meeting at Birmingham on Sunday (see link) On the cover of the programme are 5 pics. The top left pic looks like F1 Stock Cars as i remember them in the 70's Can anyone identify what formula that actually is ? Would love to see that as a support formula. I've used the term "F1" three times , hope it doesn't cause any problems with Lewis Hamilton's Board bored members. Andy, I would have thought our Nigel would have his finger on the trigger regarding Coventry.
  8. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe Dan Johnson is part of a Business, perhaps a family one ? If so, he's unlikely to be getting double time . He did support Kings Lynn on Saturday, and played his part in the highlights of the meeting .
  9. Cheers Team . Hope you've got the ear infection under control Jane . A Cyber Hug x
  10. It is very inconsiderate of Dan to have to earn a living aside from his racing. A 3 month ban at least ?
  11. That didn't take long. I get your point Carl Could it be Drivers don't want to commit to 2 meetings in one weekend ? Gone are the days when we had several meetings to choose from on a Bank Holiday weekend. Even if all 46 booked in at Kings Lynn, booked in for Belle Vue, there would be casualties that force cancellations at Belle View. It is up to the individual, as said. Both tracks have their merits.
  12. Cheers Team Gutted i couldn't make the trip tonight
  13. Many Thanks team and to Roy for the pics. All the cars look mint ! I was excited to see Ben Riley on the driver's list , but sadly he didn't appear after all .
  14. Just spotted Ben Riley on the list. Anyone know what the bigger picture is for Ben this year ?
  15. Fantastic Memories .................... Thank You Carl ! Belle Vue Boxing Day's were a way of life back in the 70's right through to it's closure. Like Fraggle' , i was up in the wooden seats with me mates, flask & turkey sarnies to hand. I can't remember any Boxing Day meeting being a classic, but it filled a void that only Brisca F1 could supply ! (Sad but true ) Thee most memorable thing about them was the cold. Brass Monkeys n all that Oh, and Stuart Smith seemed to win everything .........................
  16. Thanks team for keeping us posted throughout 2018 Well Done Frankie Well Done Jake
  17. I know this is not necessarily what this thread is about, but I always feel the World Final meeting format is harsh on the 2 drivers who are first home in the consi semi. Agree. The 1st & 2nd in the cons semi should automatically qualify for the meeting final. They do add extra interest to the World Final, seeing how far up the field they can get. But, are usually not in a position to win. (it's happened just once) I like this idea of having a B Final. Regardless, there must be a Grand National. It's often the best race of any meeting. I've always wanted the semis to be raced on World Final night (as suggested by Ozzy). Sadly, that is never gonna happen. The biggest NO NO occured at the last Kings Lynn WF, under another promotion. Having a race mid afternoon, then nothing for over two hours was plain ridiculous, as was the guy making sand castles on the centre green inbetween races. In Summary - F1 only please. Friday ok for a support act
  18. I had thought this might be the case , but At season start, Northampton was tarmac. Taking the Grand Finale out of the equation , the ratio was 5 - 4 in favour of Shale. Northampton changing to shale, made that 6 - 3 in favour of shale. Add 10th Shootout back in and it's a total imbalance of 7 - 3 to shale. Still, surely there's a reason for Kings Lynn to get 2 shootout rounds ? C'mon Ricky, you're the expert !!
  19. The reason Belle Vue hosts two, is because the Promoter with the Grand Finale can host it where they like. That Promoter chooses Belle Vue over Sheffield. It doesn't explain KL getting two though ????
  20. Thanks for the scores on the doors so far Ricky. A good a place as any to ask this question : Is there any particular reason why Kings Lynn gets to host two Shootout rounds ?
