  1. Lets hope the last ever Stoke goes with a bang...and I dont mean Punch and Judy. Not sure which is worse, the grumble at the opening time or the eloquent sarcasm. Both don't make pleasant reading. Soon chance to cool down over the winter months, so enjoy the last few meetings, and hope that Steve's new venture becomes reality. Stoke is not everyone's cup of tea but I will miss the place. We have seen some incredible racing there and I am looking forward to one last opportunity.
  2. I believe Derek has sold the car so likely that Paul has bought it.
  3. Now that’s a predicament. Can’t do both, and would normally favour Kings Lynn every time, but with Saloons on and 3 hours less travel overall might have to be Sheffield.
  4. There are only two star drivers, one is not in the shootout, so only one of the twelve shootout drivers racing. If this had been a shootout round you would have had 11 more drivers plus Matt would have had a couple of cars there and maybe 211 555 and 175 would have come with Frankie. Probably another 15/16 drivers plus the 20 booked would have been a decent turnout. The shootout drivers have a hectic schedule in October and November so they probably see this as chance for a break before 6/7 weeks of racing. No one can blame them for that. Saloons are top formula and F1 will definitely be support. The loons will be good and often outshine F1 for action. Hendo needs 25-30 cars on track as it’s so big.
  5. It's too late to turn this sunday's event into a shootout round clearly. Promoters set the fixtures' and what is or isn't a shootout/QR in the November/December of the previous season' and as Rod says, given the dirth of tarmac rounds, Hendo this weekend could easily have been a round, especially as there has been no racing on tar for a few weeks. I would have thought that this would be fairly obvious to BriSCA? Every driver has the right not to race at meetings and I don't blame them for taking family time out if they wish. Its a hobby and that applies to spectators, but it does not prevent sensible fixture planning. I hope this weekend meeting is a good one but can't help think that with only two star grade driver it may be a little like the Harris/Davidson show. Its been a long time since the booking list contained no Wainmans or Newson.
  6. It needed to be a shootout and perhaps a QR then there might have been mid 30s. Major fixture error I’m afraid. Great shame as given enough cars racing can be very good.
  7. Weather forcast is great, booking list is great. Packing our bags tomorrow night for a weekend away and trip down the A1 on Friday. All roads lead to Kings Lynn. Trackstar have done a great job on the build up all year. I will give my favourites a good cheer and certain drivers a good boo, that's all part of the game. May the best (and not necessarily fastest) man win....
  8. I think you are right Spiderman but was this years Gold cup the first time there have been more UK drivers than Dutch at a Dutch meeting?. Thats the advantage of turning NIR to shale.
  9. It would be great if we got 40 cars for potentially the penultimate F1 Belle Vue meeting. Drivers do not have to race - it is a hobby after all, but there are about 16-18 additional names which I would half expect to be on the list if the BSCDA were giving their full support to make the final BV meetings truly memorable. Some may have holidays or mechanical issues of course.
  10. Looking forward to this one but one point with the programme. Lots of fans like to see the time trials, but many will be queuing to get in while they are on. I know it allows more time for grid walk etc but perhaps it could have been pushed back an hour or so to allow more to see it or make it 6 till 7 on the Friday meeting which might put a few more on the gate? Minor point I know. Good luck to Trackstar for this event. They have been building it very nicely all season.
  11. I thought it might have raised mid 40s at least. time for a few more to be added. Still its good to see Michael Steward on the list returning after some time away.
  12. That means the tangle cost 211 and 346 about 7 seconds which I would say is about right. 346 pulled away before 211 so on that basis must have been on the same lap whereas the transponder shows he was a lap down???. Feel really sorry for James if he misses out over an incorrect decision. Don't get me wrong, I don't know either way, but sometimes technology can confuse things. in the old days the lap scorers scribble and eyesight would call it.
  13. I was stood on turn 4 where the incident happened. Phoebe and Ashley hooked up for a few seconds, definately not enough time for anyone to complete a full lap. It all depends on how far infront of the incident James was. I suspect maybe half a straight length?? Hopefully someone has consulted a video replay and can see exactly where James was in relation to Phoebe/Ashley when the free themselves. I couldn't score it past Liam in 5th......
  14. Looks like the semi will be in the dry. I think Startrax will run the meeting as quickly as possible so hopefully no wet races. The car park is normally £2 Rod.
  15. If the dutch are allowed one weekend over here without buying a MSD box that must have played a part in the numbers. An extra £400 for one weekends racing takes a lot of justification for many drivers. Its about time that specs were made the same. Not sure what shockers the dutch run, maybe they would need to buy new shockers to race over here? Still a good number of cars. Shame about 445 being injured and hopefully 197 will book in unless he is away in the states.
  16. Last season there were a number of drivers and fans saying that the fun had gone from the sport and that there was no longer any social side, so Deane reacted by pulling the saturday meeting forward to allow a bit of a party after racing had concluded. Now it seems that he can't do right and everyone wants a later start time. Promoting is a thankless task and if pulling the start forward means that overall he takes a bit more money at the bar and makes the weekend profitable then so be it. Promoting stock car racing is not a charity and if profits are not made we lose tracks. Of course this earlier start time means that some will have trouble making the meeting and the promoter has got to balance the pro's and con's of each situation. If you can get there on Saturday all well and good but if you can't just do the Sunday and save a few quid.
  17. Thanks guys. Top job as usual. Great to see Jack 216 doing so well
  18. For every meeting apart from world finals there is ample room to bring a chair in. Some meetings you could bring a 3 piece suit in ......I think the answer for the world final is exactly what KL are doing this year. Limied tickets for seating, and must be on the back row of the terrace. That way people who need their own seat can bring it and don't get in the way of others. People who can sit in a tight plastic grandstand seat can do so, or stand up for 7 hours. My Mrs missed last years World final because she can't sit in one of those upright plastic grandstand seats for hours and can't stand long due to a spinal problem. We have only got one seat ticket for this years WF as I can stand or sit on the floor to allow someone else a seat in. As a result of last years seating policy, she is not very keen on going to Skeg at all now, and we haven't been this year and are probably unlikely to go for the remainder of the season. The slightly annoying thing was that there was plenty of room at Skeg for chairs towards the back of the grass on each bend, so they could have done the same as KL are doing and designate an area for chairs therefore not alienated some supporters. Our non attendance this year may seem short sighted, but it left a sour taste and that may take a while to go. There are plenty of other tracks and formula to go to and life doesn't have to mean stock cars every weekend. I hope those that go have a great weekend, we are off to explore the sights of Liverpool for the weekend. Next stop NIR for the euro's where we will be fully armed with our favourite deckchairs on turn 2.....
