  2. Coventry has had 60+ cars since forever, although a good chunk of them hardly ever race anywhere else. The average car count this season is 43. That's the most likely explanation. Why else would they cancel their booking? It's always going to be a problem with the second meeting of a weekend. I think drivers have until the day of the meeting to cancel bookings without incurring a penalty, and to be fair, on Monday morning the booking list on the BSCDA website had 30 cars on it and 30 raced that night.
  3. Pretty sure BV would get more cars if it ran on Saturday nights, but that's reserved for the doggies.
  4. To be fair... it was a pretty hectic race, and it might well have taken a few minutes for the lap scorers to work out the top 3, by which time Eliot, who didn't think he was third anyway, had already left the track and gone back to his truck. Very unfortunate for him.
  5. The booking list currently stands at over 70 F1s, but like all booking lists, this will change as the week goes on, not least due to damage from King's Lynn / Belle Vue. The full list will be released later in the week.

  8. The Met Office rain radar shows that the rain will won't last, it will be long gone before start time.
  9. Thanks very much to all involved. I was trackside at Stoke last night, but keeping up with KL via this thread.

  14. From TrackStar:- "Mr Box Office" 150 Mick Sworder makes his 2016 debut on Saturday at King's Lynn Following a great start to the season the F1 Stock Cars will be looking to put on another great display when they come to chase World Qualifying Points at King's Lynn on Saturday 30 April (5.30pm). The entry is littered with star grade names. 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr will be looking to maintain his great start to the season - Wainman debuted a very smart new car at Lynn last month and took it to a heat and final double and also came home in third place from the lap handicap in the Grand National. The entry of 48 cars includes many of the top names in the sport including World Champion 318 Rob Speak and National Points Champion 4 Dan Johnson. Former eight times World Champion 53 John Lund will be making only his second appearance of the season whilst lots of interest will surround the first appearance of the season of the one they call "Mr Box Office" 150 Mick Sworder. Sworder is very quick around King's Lynn and he will have a big point to prove following frustrations which have delayed his debut this year - his fellow racers will be hoping that he does not take out those frustrations too much on them! Racing also comes from the F2 Stock Cars and BriSCA MiniStox. 57 F2 Stock Cars are currently booked in with a very cosmopolitan entry which includes drivers from Mainland Europe and Northern Ireland as well as all over the UK whilst the MiniStox will no doubt be giving one of their usual all action displays. 515 Frankie Wainman 515 Frankie Wainman debuted a stunning new car last time out at King's Lynn which went as well as it looked as he took victory in not only his heat but then he also took the chequered flag in the final and then came from the lap handicap to place a fantastic third place in the final from the lap handicap. Asked if he was expecting it to go so well, Wainman responded: “If I’m honest: ‘ish!’ I knew it would be alright but we thought it would need a bit of tweaking. But we seemed to hit on it straight away. I think there is a little bit more in the car yet,” he added, ominously. “To win the first race out was job done – especially nowadays,” he continued. “But to win heat and final, third in national was unbelievable.” Frankie will be looking to continue that form on Saturday and his confidence with his new car is something which may worry his rivals!
  15. Yes, April 27th is the King's birthday (hence the meeting being called The King's Battle) and is a national holiday. I've been there in the past for a Wednesday and a Thursday, when Ascension Day (a religious holiday to do with Easter) fell the day after the King's Birthday, and hence with two bank holidays back to back they held a double header meeting.

  17. Anyone?? He gets a few mentions in the Northampton Driver Of The Day thread.

  19. Good final. 515 off pole, went wide and delayed. 217 through. 515 caught & passed 217 but went wide again. 515 slowed last 2/3 laps with a broken half shaft. Final: 217,47,173,228,226,UK515,53,345,44,11 212 also finished the race. Thanks to John B, StockcarF1, stockcar-racing.nl, Wainman Racing, and Rouke van der Meer for the updates from over the water.
