  1. F2s are already on the night before at Stoke, and their Sheffield date will be rearranged for later in the year, possibly September. I think the fact that there are considerably more F1s and V8s expected than when the fixture list was put together has got to be a positive sign for both formulae. The 2 formula meeting in April was very well received on here, with a lot of people commenting positively about the quick turn around, which might also have been a factor in the decision to move the F2s.
  2. Saturday Gates open 10.30am. Paid practice 1pm - 3.30pm Meeting starts 4.45pm Sunday Meeting starts 12 noon. Presumably there will be pre-meeting practice both days as normal. The official booking list from the BSCDA lists 47 cars, but I think the Dutch drivers book in directly with the promoter, not the BSCDA?
  3. The Startrax publicity machine has kicked into life... Just 3 weeks to go to the first of the big 3 World Series deciders and the business end of the World Championship deciders! It comes no tougher than Owlerton's first decider! 24 starters and just 10 will make it through to the big grid at Coventry Stadium the first Saturday in September! This hurdle has a penchant for sometimes being 'predictable' however, the first three rows of the grid offer 6 of BriSCA's finest talent and most explosive drivers, none I would politely suggest would be out for a Sunday drive and respectable position! Being on the front row of that World Final grid is the ultimate objective. Wainman took the safer option in terms of survival in electing Semi Final 2 propelling Matt Newson, Dan Johnson, Mick Sworder, Rob Speak, Craig Finnikin and Stuart Smith Junior to the fast, flat out and tight and technical Sheffield shale way the scene of so many dramatic big races over the decades! A full format BriSCA F1 event is complimented by the full on action of the resurgent V8 Stock Cars providing an awesome 10 race spectacle of Sunday afternoon Thunder. The stadium affords amongst the finest facilities in UK oval entertainment, race view bars, panoramic race view restaurant, covered atmospheric terracing where the rumble of V8 engines resonates. Excellent fast food outlets and a family friendly environment guarantees a big day out! RESTAURANT RESERVATIONS SHOULD BE MADE DIRECTLY WITH OWLERTON STADIUM on 0114 234 3074 - This is beginning to fill up so don't delay - it is likely to be booked up on the day Provisional Schedule of events: 12.30pm Heat 1 V8 Stock Cars 12.50pm Heat 1 BriSCA F1 Stock Cars 1.10pm Heat 2 V8 Stock Cars 1.35pm Heat 2 BriSCA F1 Stock Cars Championship of the World 1st Semi Final 2.25pm Heat 3 V8 Stock Cars 2.45pm BriSCA F1 Consolation 3.10pm V8 Stock Car Grand Final 3.35pm BriSCA F1 Grand Final 4.00pm V8 Stock Cars GN 4.15pm BriSCA F1 GN Gates Open 11am Prices Adults £22 Concessions £18 Child 5 - 14 £8 Under 5s Free Family Ticket 2 Adults + up to 3 children £50
  4. As I understand it, our boys' cars would be fine to race in Holland as they are... but they do change the brakes/shockers/etc to be competitive against the Dutch cars. A few years back there was some mention of some cars being just over the noise limits at Venray, which meant new silencers for some. The rules between BriSCA and Holland used to be pretty close, and hence Dutch spec cars could race over here without too much bother, but the recent changes to UK rules regarding tyres and control shockers, although being a good move for UK racing, have unfortunately worked against us regards the Dutch coming over.
  5. Tarmac racing in Holland appears to have been on the decline the last few years, as the dirt/shale/field tracks have got more popular. There's also a massive meeting at Texel in Holland this weekend. Over 80 F1s booked the last time I looked, including four Brits!
  6. Important info for anyone camping:- The field gates open at 1pm tomorrow, and you must leave by Monday midday.

  8. More drivers added, including a couple of Dutchmen. These are the same two Dutch lads that raced last year. 2 Paul Harrison 4 Daniel Johnson 11 Neil Scriven 12 Michael Scriven 16 Mat Newson 19 Jonathan Horne 25 Bradley Harrison 28 Thomas Boyer 36 Jordan Falding 37 Chris Cowley 46 Craig Utley 48 Shaun Webster 78 James Rygor 108 Peter Hobbs 150 Mick Sworder 166 Bobby Griffin 172 Michael Randell 186 Todd Jones 196 Murray Jones 197 Ryan Harrison 213 Matt Rogers 217 Lee Fairhurst 220 William Hunter 224 Mark Gray 231 Daniel van Spijker 249 Jonathon Gibson 259 Paul Hines 283 Alex Wass 284 Samuel Wass 301 Mark Allen 318 Rob Speak 321 Ed Neachell 325 Richard Davies 337 Dave Willis 358 Dean Mason 388 Paul Ford 401 Steven Webster 415 Russell Cooper 422 Ben Riley 445 Nigel Green 464 Luke Davidson 499 Dave Allen 501 George Elwell 507 Neil Smith 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr 518 Stuart Sheville Jnr 555 Frankie Wainman Jnr Jnr H195 Harmen Zwerver H380 Chris Weyenberg
  9. As in Carnforth/F2 Dean Mason ,The Lancaster Bomber ?According to his licence, 358 is from Lancaster, so it looks like it's the same guy.
  10. It's usually a standard meeting i.e. Two heats, Consolation, Final, GN.
  11. Dean Mason was multiple champion in the stock car class at Warton before moving to F2 and getting sponsored by Mitchell's Brewery of Lancaster, who produced an ale called Lancaster Bomber. He was 58 at Warton and 658 in F2, so if 358 in F1 isn't him then it's a massive coincidence. If he's in a Mat Newson car, then I hope Mat's taking a few spare front bumpers.
  12. Me and my bro did that for a couple of weekenders back in the day, and then realised it was more fun to spend the cash for the B&B in the bar, and then sleep in the car.
  13. Booking list as it currently stands. It's only Monday, so there's the rest of the week for damage from Skeg to be repaired and some more to book in. Dutch entry TBA. (Apart from Dan van Spijker ) 2 Paul Harrison 4 Dan Johnson 11 Neil Scriven 12 Michael Scriven 16 Mat Newson 19 Jon Horne 25 Bradley Harrison 28 Thomas Boyer 36 Jordan Falding 37 Chris Cowley 46 Craig Utley 48 Shaun Webster 78 James Rygor 108 Peter Hobbs 150 Mick Sworder 166 Bobby Griffin 172 Michael Randell 186 Todd Jones 197 Ryan Harrison 213 Matt Rogers 217 Lee Fairhurst 220 William Hunter 224 Mark Gray 231 Daniel van Spijker 249 Jonathon Gibson 259 Paul Hines 283 Alex Wass 284 Samuel Wass 318 Rob Speak 321 Ed Neachell 325 Richard Davies 337 Dave Willis 358 Dean Mason 388 Paul Ford 401 Steven Webster 415 Russell Cooper 422 Ben Riley 464 Luke Davidson 499 Dave Allen 501 George Elwell 507 Neil Smith 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr 518 Stuart Sheville Jnr 555 Frankie Wainman Jnr Jnr

  16. Incarace press release:- FORGET THE football in France...the REAL European Championships take place at Northampton International Raceway on 16th and 17th July. This massive weekend of racing sees a triple figure entry of cars from all over Europe descend upon the Brafield venue accompanied by a legion of raucous supporters for a terrific celebration of Stock Car racing. Top of the tree are the thunderous BriSCA F1 Stock Cars at their spiritual UK home venue. 84 Tom Harris defends the European title and has recently made a successful comeback after a spell racing in America, winning the Scottish Championship at Cowdenbeath. His main rivals will include 515 Junior Wainman who has had a stunning season so far, winning the EIGHTH British title of his career – an event which nearly saw a Wainman family lockout of the podium – plus sweeping all before him on shale with a succession of final wins and also topping the World Championship qualifying points, while 445 Nigel Green has also been in superb form around Northampton this season. Other main contenders for the European crown will include gold top 318 Rob Speak who will be hoping for a change of fortune after many incidents and mechanical woes this year, National Points champion 4 Dan Johnson, 464 Luke Davidson and 150 Mick Sworder who have all lifted the title before. The ever-potent Dutch challenge meanwhile should be led by H148 Sjeng Smidt and H36 Joep Hendriks to name but two, while 518 Stuart Shevill Jnr and 388 Paul Ford will represent Scotland. Saturday night also features two very special additional trophies to be contested. The F1s will contest the annual Trust Fund race with a magnificent solid silver stock car replica as the trophy which 388 Paul Ford defends.
  17. Makes you wonder how he's getting them all there! Fair play to him - he's going to be busy! And so is Stuart Shevill - he's already in the pits. Racing his saloon tonight, and presumably the saloon and the F1 over the weekend.
  18. 28, 47, 321, & 322 removed. 224 added.
  19. That's 42 different drivers in total over the weekend, but will there be 42 different cars? 252 is listed as Saturday only, and I think he usually races a Mat Newson car? In which case, will somebody different be racing that car Sunday? Maybe 213 or 483? 219 has already said she's in one of Mat's both days. How many cars has Mat actually got? 47 has raced Jamie Davidson cars on his previous outings, but with 464, 318, and 84 all racing (presumably Tom in the same older Speak car again), have they got any spare? 545 in a Mark Sargent car again?
  20. "Support formula" booking list as of today. 4 Dan Johnson 11 Neil Scriven 16 Mat Newson 19 Jon Horne 28 Thomas Boyer 47 Chris Burgoyne 48 Shaun Webster 56 Graham Moulds 70 Aaron Leach 84 Tom Harris 94 John Dowson 166 Bobby Griffin 172 Micky Randell 175 Karl Hawkins 186 Todd Jones 212 Danny Wainman 213 Matt Rogers 217 Lee Fairhurst 219 Jacklyn Ellis 220 William Hunter 231 Daniel van Spijker 252 Paul Redfern (Saturday only) 287 Sean Willis 300 Paul Carter 318 Rob Speak 321 Ed Neachell 322 James Neachell 326 Mark Sargent 337 Dave Willis 385 Sam Render 388 Paul Ford 401 Steve Webster 422 Ben Riley 445 Nigel Green 464 Luke Davidson 483 Wayne Marshall 499 Dave Allen 512 Michael Steward 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr 518 Stuart Shevill 545 Neil Hooper 555 Frankie Wainman Jnr Jnr 42 cars
  21. Thanks for all the thanks..... I'm sure the F1 booking list will be released tomorrow, but in the mean time, here's SCM's poster for the weekend.
  22. All I'm doing is collecting relevant information and collating it on these Meeting Preview threads in the hope that it's useful for somebody. Unless I specifically say so, I'm not posting on behalf of any promoter, the BSCDA, or anyone else. I take your point that some elements of this particular press release are either badly worded or contradictory, but the best answer I can give is that any queries or concerns about any aspect of this meeting should be made directly to Skegness Stadium on 0844 559 1228 or enquiries@skegness-stadium.info
  23. Information from Skegness Stadium. On Saturday, the pit gate & camping area opens at 12.30pm and the turnstiles open at 1pm, and we say this every meeting but it is REALLY important you do not arrive before this time, if the gates are blocked we cannot get service vehicles in to the Stadium and we get problems with the Police & Highways for blocking the road, we want the weekends to continue so please do not arrive before the specified time. Camping / Motor homes / Caravans etc. is £20 per unit, all through into the back field. This opens at 12-30pm Sorry no camping or staying overnight in the car park. At 3pm we have a meet & greet and photo shoot on track with the three World Champions. Kelvyn Marshall, Brisca F2, 2L Saloons Simon Welton, Rob Speak Brisca F1, where you can meet the drivers and have a photo taken with them, then at 4pm the time trials, where they all have ago in each other’s cars. Race cars & transporters that are not racing are not allowed on any part of Skegness Stadium, there is simply not enough room. You can tel 0844 559 1228 and pay for your tickets for the weekend, (it is the same as the gate price) and we will give you a reference number to exchange for a wristband on Sat 9th July. We have a large free car park, plenty of catering units, and bars, and a large covered grandstand area if the weathers a bit iffy. There is also track view parking where for an additional charge £10 for a car, £15 for a 4 x 4 size motor, where you can watch from the comfort of your car. Sorry motorhomes are not allowed on track view. Please note you are not allowed to bring in food, drink, alcohol, barbecues into the Stadium Arena and track view parking. No tents, shelters, gazebos, marquees or similar are allowed inside the Stadium arena, trackside, or any of the spectator areas. Admission prices: Saturday: Adults £20, Seniors £16, Juniors £8 Sunday: Adults £24, Seniors £16, Juniors £8. Weekend ticket: £42, Senior £30, Junior £14. Also, if you want to make a long weekend of it, there's a meeting for F2 and Saloons on Thursday 7th July, starting 7.30pm.
  24. From the Team Smith page - 390 has cancelled.
  25. I'd be surprised if Tom wasn't in Speaky's car.
