  1. Will C, you are not forced to watch the last race. If you need to leave before the end I'm sure they will open the gate for you.
  2. The Speak family are working wonders so far and are obviously not making a great fortune for a number of years to come.
  3. Surely it must be that drivers are not allowed to hit or pass another driver until they are past The Start Line, otherwise they have officially jumped the start?
  4. Drivers would see the lights if there were plenty of them and if the drivers actually looked for them. It would probably take a few meetings before they started looking for lights rather than straight ahead but they would soon learn if it cost them points etc.
  5. One problem is that the higher grades always start accelerating even before they reach the first bend so the ones in front go so as not to be clobbered by the time they reach the first bend after the flag. Proper control by lights would either prevent early starts or cause more dockings. They would soon learn if they start losing points.
  6. The only way is to use the 'traffic lights', operated by the starter, so the whole track can see the start signal at the same time. There would then be no excuse for a jump start and easily checked by video.
  7. Perhaps Cathy Harris just wanted to be sure she got the number she wanted, ready for whenever she decides is the right time to change formulae.
  8. I'm fairly sure that the price goes up when it's British for F1s as well so surely it should follow that the same applies for f2s.
  9. Overturned HGV is now uprighted. Should be cleared by 1pm.
  10. No one has yet commented on the fact that DJ is not on the booking list for Saturday, only on Sunday, in Saloons. Is he doing both?
  11. From what other people, including some close friends, I have deliberately avoided Facebook Twitter etc. I do not wish to be associated with any of them. I read Stoxnet at least once every day. It's where I expect to see news about Stock Cars. It is usually kept bang up to date, as any news site should be.
  12. I remember that when we first started going to Stoke it seemed to be 'in the middle of nowhere'. We drove for a while through lots of piles of rocks (big rocks) and there was no signs of industrial buildings or houses anywhere in sight. There was a 'grandstand' which was just an open sided box, though it was quite large, a bit like Buxton, not sure if it had concrete in it or not. There were a number of what looked like upturned bathtubs like the ones that were at Hednesford at one time( are they still at Hednesford?). The sound was amazing, no exhausts etc. and spectating quite close to the track.
  13. Thanks a lot, as usual. I went yesterday but I now restrict myself to one meeting per weekend.
  14. Rod, you may be right that Frank didn't give it 100% in his heats but it proved to be the right way, didn't it? Maybe he was saving the last few horses for the championship race.
  15. I think the word used was probably braking rather than breaking. To a Dutchman it obviously sounds the same and he chose the wrong one. I'm not blaming him, but I can see the difference and it just came over wrong in English.
  16. Isn't there somewhere a rule that on a restart the field is reset as it was 1(maybe 2) laps before? I'm not sure because it seems to vary between formulae and I do follow others. But, if it was taken back then maybe Dan was put back to his proper place.
  17. I wasn't complaining, in fact I usually send a 'thank you' post. I was merely stating that it seemed odd that that particular page had been in larger print than any other page on a few posts. I do apologise(to Jane and Nic), not to people who always seem to call people whingers just because they can't see anything outside of their own scan.
  18. Personally I don't mind the extra info(but I don't use the 'phone), but I don't understand why recently that particular section is done in larger print, which must make it even more difficult on the small screens'
  19. Perhaps Frankie is helping Smithy to rebuild his engine.
