  1. Stunned is all I can say. Memories of a true budget driver who wanted to race and entertain. Condolences to his nearest and dearest at this most tragic of times. Carlton and family. My all time memory of Tim the racer, Birmingham several years ago they had a session were you could race any tyre you had. Tim had something from a garage or field from the 1970's and did every bend on opposite lock , smoke pouring of the tired tyres with the crowd applauding, filling the stadium in white rubber smoke just like the old days until it went POP. Im sure that was the biggest cheer of the evening . Has anyone got that night on video.

  5. I can remember the 1988 world final at Hednesford when John Lund bounced Peter Falding off the west bend wall and the stand shook. Anyone think those three legged stanchions that hold up the sponsors area need a bit more protection !!!
  6. will check with my cousin Glynn Rayson and good friend Andy Johnson who both raced if they have any records or results.
  7. Good luck with your research Neil , I hope you get as much help as I did over the twenty years it took me to research the first 50 years of the F2 sport which was eventually published this year !! Do you realise that by starting this project you are going to be tearing your hair out and questioning your sanity for a long time to come lol !!
  8. Hope you, and anyone who buys it enjoys it, I have received one thank you letter so far, thank you Mick and Kath Whitney, thank you so much for your comments. They really are appreciated, thank you, Carlton
  9. Steve, I have met loads of people that have given me information from every year 1960 to 2010 during my twenty three year research. The day with your dad was a highlight as mentioned but if everyone I ever spoke to had a free copy, my publisher, who has taken on all the expensive costs of publication and distribution would be out of pocket. I make no money out of this publication, but a £1 donation goes to the F2 drivers Ben Fund for every book published. It would be great if your Dad saw a copy of the book, he is credited in it for his information,.
  10. Hi Steve , yes it was me that came to your Mom and Dads bungalow about twenty years ago. Redex trophy in the porch, your dad with a cigar and an offer of a beer at 10 oclock in the morning as we went into one of the three big sheds, American cars, spares for American cars and the memrobilia shed !! One of the greatest days of my life. I cant sort a copy of the book it comes from the publisher, go to www.ovalracingbooks.co.uk and you can purchase one from there. Hope all is well your end, Carlton.

  18. Thanks for the results. Sorry this isn't F1 related but a lot of F1 fans like watching him, fair enough some dont but just to confirm an earlier post, Gordon Moodies final win was his 461st F2 final win and that equals the record set by Bill Batten. Well done Gordon.
