Thanks Colin, yes I thought it might give a bit of extra incentive for the whites and yellows and that booking list sure seems to indicate that was the right way to go. Si used to appreciate the chances to race for a bit of extra prize money. Still early days, as a few more drivers may book in, but that booking list reminds me of meetings in the 70's where the number of drivers of each grade was reflective of the split of registered drivers - admittedly, that was helped by clashing meetings in those days!

Summary of whats left: Andy Smith 97 rolling chassis with big block engine mounts, radiator, seat, tank, belts, radiator, prop shaft, etc, Transit front axle and LD rear axle. Good for heritage or also as a budget start if F1 with a few easy mods. 1250 pounds Uncut LD back axle, 5.7:1 ratio complete with bird cages and suspension mounts, 500 pounds I am back in UK for Easter (and Skeggy) and will go through the rest of the items I have and list them. I know I have a few Quartermaster 7.25" 3 plate clutches (with new plates), BBC Hedman exhaust manifold kit, SBC flex plates,etc

Sad that I have to do it but have the following for sale: Andy Smith 1997 rolling chassis, good for heritage or even as budget start to F1 with only a few mods to bring up to 2018 spec. Comes with big block mounts, exhaust manifolds, seat, tank, rad, etc. Transit front and LD back axles. I have an unraced 496 cu inch big block that was built in US and I had Peter Knight rebuild it. Forged ,crank, rods etc we were going to use it in the Andy Smith chassis so maybe do a deal with the chassis. New Demon Carb, starter, etc go with it I have a Doug Nash Box presently in pieces, just needs a rebuild/check bearings and new gaskets + clutch and bell housing so basically there is a complete budget car. RAM, Renault 17Ton Transporter with tail lift, generator, winch ,etc. Never completely finished in living area but it won't take much to complete. We are just trying to get a test booked to use it for Skeggy on 30th March The black car with Peter Knight 434, Doug Nash box, Ford 9" racing spec back axle, transit front axle, ready to race and will out at Skeggy on 30th March with Jason Matthews (x269) racing it under "92". To be clear, the requirement for new cars from 1st April is that they shall have 70x70x4 min main rails so until the rules are changed, theres nothing to challenge. Based on using the same material, the circular equivalent to 70x70x4box to give the same resistance to bending and to have the same strength in compression(end on) is 88.9dia x 4 70x70x4 weight= 8.15kg/m, cross sectional area =10.40cm2, Section Modulus (resistance to bending) = 21.3cm3 88.9diax4 weight= 8.38kg/m, cross sectional area =10.67cm2, Section Modulus (resistance to bending) = 21.67cm3 So your claim that circular hollow section pound for pound is far more resistant to bending than square hollow section is total nonsense and I would be eternally grateful if you could prove otherwise. It is true that using stronger materials will help but what I can say is that utilising a "space frame" type construction can be stronger if designed correctly. I fully understand that when completed, Rob's design could have been stronger than the minimum requirements of the new rule but that is what has to be questioned at the next AGM so we can again have the option of building stronger space frame cars.

Cheers Rob One thing I did'nt mension is that when the main film finishes, there is a pause before another short film showing Harold Gibson 162 who took over the car from Ian. Harold is the brother of Bob who took the film and raced in 1966 and won a race at Belle Vue.

I finally got around to converting Ian's home colour movie from video to DVD (originally super 8) and he agreed it would be good to sell this with profits going to the Veterans Association. The movie covers the build of Ians car and racing at Belle Vue, Cadwell Park and Coventry in I think 1964. The Cadwell Park footage and overall nostalgia seeing Aubrey Leigton, Tigger Griffin,etc, around Cadwell and many other drivers that were before I stated spectating is magic The DVD is a home movie and is 30mins long but I've watched it countless times picking out the drivers and cars of the era. I will be taking some copies to the Vets Doo on 3rd March in at Broadhurst Band Club, Greenfield near Oldham to sell for £5 if anyone is interested.

Vaux, And make sure its big enough for an F1 - no more of that talk about F2's. Some good deals around at the moment, surely you must have slipped some dosh to Mr Slater??

Jon, unfortunately I don't have much time in the UK at present so nothing is getting done! I don't need that many hours to complete the car so I will get there! Si has been up to his neck in the shop but now I hope he will have some time to put the old car back together for the start of the season so what little time I have can be spent on the new car.

Jon, Most seem to use the 27.5" wide x 19" high x 3" thk griffin rad as min new chassis width is 28", next one down is 26" x 19" x 3"

Just a start but Si is now selling Transit EBC race brake pads + goggles + mechanix gloves in the Rotec Cycles E Bay shop and of course in the real shop. Following link is to the E Bay shop Rotec Cycles Need to tidy a bit but pads and Mechanix gloves are under "race car parts" whilst goggles still have their own category. We will be adding more parts soon

Before I started racing, I was involved with the "Rochdale Supporters Club" which was run by Eddie & Bernice Rhodes. Eddie had aquired a coach and we used it in a non profit type club set up - maybe thats too big a deal to think about now but a 12 seater mini bus ? It saved us a lot of money in even 1971/72 - I maybe wrong for today,but the deal used to be that a non profit making club could operate such a vehicle without needing PSV licence, etc,

We need to borrow/hire/or even buy (gulp, if we have to) a trailer to transport the #92 car for period(approx) 9 May to early June. Any help would be most appreciated.
