  1. Chris d, let me know if you have any problems. I haven't experienced any problems myself and haven't heard of any from other folks, but keep me informed.
  2. Some news about the car on the pewi forum. looks like it was spotted at the Hoek! I have heard a lot of cars heading over to Holland, especially now the Euro is so strong against the pound
  3. Dave Newman's photo of me crossing the road from pits to track at Nelson in around June/July 79 now added to the Casserley Bros gallery.. It's one of my fav pics, and to be honest it was the highlight of the evening at Nelson for me!! I think I got hooked up with Chris Jolly in my heat and did about 5 laps. As they were short of cars I went out in the next heat as well which was driver of the year semi. All I can remember about that was sitting on the start line and counting thenumber of red tops starting behind me. I think I lasted about a lap in that one. Then I went out in a pursuit race they had and threw a halfshaft on the start.. By the time we fixed it the meeting had finished. It was good fun though. Listening to: Buzzcocks - Another Kind of Music In A Different Kitchin Pogues- Red Roses For Me Various Artist - This Is Rockabilly Clash http://www.stoxphotos.com
  4. The signwritting is "Casserley Creates Chaos" As I said in previous post we had no idea how the Bus was going to be painted or signwritten. The colour might not be great but we were pleased with it. Yep, that was during my Allman bros/southern rock era. Between me and "king" Richard Petty we have 7 titles and 200 stock car victories!
  5. Photo of our last Bus now added to the Casserley Bros gallery, It's the ex Glyndwr Pursey Pursey bus. Photo must be from around1980 or 81. the bus was painted and signwritten by a local garage, the garage owner wanted something for his workers to practice paint spraying on, as long as we didn't mind what colour it was he would do it for free.. We were suprised when it came back signwritten as well! - The Garage owner knew my dad from connections within the Insurance industry. Kind of goes that prove that most stock car sponsorship comes from who you know and grows from there. Not sure what happend to the bus after we sold it, I think it went to a grass track racer. 8. Thanks for the comments, they are very much appreciated. Carl, with out your help I would never have been able to put together the photos of all the drivers. Waz. I've thought about doing a retro book for the last few years, maybe I will if I get a bit of time to go through my photos.
  9. Some photos added to the Casserley Bros gallery, including me getting rolled during the ben Fund charity wheelbarrow race, the wheelbarrow was painted in team colours, don't think we had told the person we borrowed it from that we were going to do that, they were not to happy when we took it back! 12. Thanks for the last update message Carl, I sure your 3 year old sings better than some of the bands I listen to! A few photos added to the Casserley Bros. gallery. Some photos of Alan at Baarlo 1977 in the Darkie Wright built car. A couple of me in the same car a few years later including first time out in it at Harringay. I was ok with the brake pedal when we tested it in the workshop, but when I was strapped in it was a different matter. I could just about reach it at the start of the race, but as the brakes faded I couldn't push the pedal down far enough, hence the visit to the Harringay fence when I couldn't slow it down!! Added while listenining to: The Clash - Sandanista (Well bits of it, coz some of it is AUTOMATICALLY DELETED WORD (If you can't express yourself without swearing, please don't post!)!) 16. I have put together a book of photos from the 2008 season. It's split into various sections covering the champions, the tracks, final winners, thrills and spills and a photo of all the drivers who have raced in 2008. It's 120 pages with over 530 photos, all in colour and is in 10 x 8 inches 25x20 cm It's only available on line for £24.95 from: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/427463
  17. A bit of sad news, Amyleigh Barnes who appeared in the 2008 Calendar was murdered over the weekend. My thoughts go out to her family and friends. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/c...icle5119906.ece
  18. Calendar's available this weekend at Coventry from Eddie at the model stock car stand.. And I should have a few with me at Hednesford.
  19. good booking list, interesting to see Andy Hodgson booked in. I wouldn't be surprised to see Willie Peeters there as well, he always goes well around the Hednesford Hills Raceway. Dave, do you know if there is any practice scheduled?
  20. Sounds good, I have heard you may have another Dutch visitor as well.
  21. I was just showing that Stock car stadiums are not alone in restricting what you can't take in. The fact I couldn't take any drink in to the NFL game didn't stop me going, or enjoying it. and I wouldn't think not being able to take my own Alcohol to a race meeting wouldlstop me either. I can understand in the credit crunch times that any increase is distressful, but the increase over 3 years, as broadsword points out, is less than inflation. And I would think that Coventry's costs have increased over the years as well. As I pointed out earlier, it is a business The average season ticket for premium league teams has risen by 17.93% for this season over last, food increase since January 2008 are - from BBC research. Meat and fish: +22.9% Store cupboard/general: +15% Fresh fruit/vegetables: +14.7% Laundry/washing/paper: +14.4% Drink: +6.8% Pet food: +6.5% Bakery/cereal: +6% Frozen food: +5.8% Household: +4.4% Health & beauty: +0.4% Ready meals: -0.4% Dairy: -1.8% Baby food: -2.5% Both sets of increases are for this year alone, the Coventry increase is for the last 3 years. So once again in comparison to other things , Stock car fans are not being treated badly.
  22. Again, stock car fans are lucky as to how much they can take into s Stadium. Similar places of entertainment don't allow you to take in food and drink. Try that at your local cinema next time! All the concert venues I have been to in recent years do not allow food or drink, including water, to be taken into the venue. This is the list from Wembley:- The following articles must not be brought within the ground: • Unlicensed musical instruments: trumpets, drums and other devices capable of causing a disturbance or nuisance • Flag poles greater than 1m in length • Flares • Bottles, glass vessels, cans, flasks • Frisbees and similar items • Dangerous or hazardous items • Illegal substances • Explosives or ammunition; fireworks • Knives or other weapons • Firearms • Scooters, skateboards or other skates • Laser devices • Smoke canisters • Signs or items with corporate or inappropriate branding • Unauthorised fliers • Spray paint, large industrial style 'permanent' marker pens • Prams / push chairs • Transmitting devices • Professional cameras & recording devises • Large suitcases, lap tops, and back packs (trip hazards) • Illegal merchandise items • Water bottles (need to have the ability to decant) • Illegal charity collection utensils • Motor bike helmets • Umbrellas • Darts • Hampers and Cold Boxes • Air horns • Alcohol • Animals (except service dogs & guide dogs) You may bring banners, but please note that they may not be so large as to obstruct the view of fans seated around you.
  23. Humber super snipe! That was the steering box on my car way back in the black & white days! ok, I'm showing my age!
  24. It's still entertainment, and still fighting against other forms of entertainment for the £ in your pocket.. And for a promoter it is a business. The same as promoting AC/DC is a business for Harvey Goldsmith (Or whoever is promoting the tour)
  25. It's been said many times before but compared to a lot of other froms of entertainment Stock car racing is still cheap. West Ham's tickets are around £50 a match, the NFL game that played to a sold out crowd at Wembley on Sunday had ticket prices ranging from around £55 to £155 and some more than that. Oasis tickets and AC/DC tickets are around £50, and for stadium gigs these days that is cheap. It was £25 to park your car in the official Wembley Stadium car park yesterday, and it's £20 to park your car at the O2 arena.
