  13. It doesn't mean there is a problem at Sheffield - I have had phone calls - trust me!
  14. South Yorkshire hosts Stock Car thriller!! A little bit like Royal Ascot, Wimbledon or cricket at Lords there has to be something big in the BriSCA Stock Car Racing sporting calendar that causes some positive salivation amongst it’s die hard afficiandados. Sheffields’ Owerlton Stadium provides it all this coming Sunday 22nd July, a heritage that dates back to the sports origins in 1954, a superbly appointed stadium that is one of the most modern in European oval racing terms thanks to investment from progressive A & S Leisure and a unique track layout that sends pulses racing and conjours up dramatic memories of `big incidents’ for those of us who have been through the many colours of the Owlerton rainbow heritage that has made up a calendar that has spanned six decades! The stadium facilities may have changed, ownership has changed, the names behind the wheel may have moved on but the challenge of the flat out confines of the D shape shale way transcends the six decades and has produced some of the more memorable and infamous incidents and races within stock car and speedway history - Ladies and Gentlemen, boy’s and Girls, we look forward to welcoming you to what will be as very special day, the BriSCA Formula One Championship of the World, first Semi Final of 2007. An event that has a distinct local edge with the reigning World Champion having to contend with competition from South Yorkshire aces Peter Falding and Paul Harrison, both with firm designs on this years World title. Sunday 22nd July marks the final hurdle for the 24 aspirants whose journey and task began in Octobwer 2007 in pursuit of a place on that Golden grid which many drivers never see in an entire career, the BriSCA Championship of the World, a unique sporting occasion that provides colour, drama, spectacle, adrenaline and atmosphere un-rivaled in any other sporting occasion! This is it. Sheffields’ big day, added tension and local patriotism with South Yorkshires best as part of the grid! The afternoon features a feast of what is best in UK Short Circuit Motor Racing however the one event everyone has gathered for takes place around 2.30.pm and the result is vital for ten of the fortunate drivers and demoralising for the remainder. When Master of Ceremonies Dave Richardson, the unrivaled voice of European Oval Motorsport pronounces those immortal words `Gentlemen [& lady ! ] start your engines the butterflies with will be in overdrive and the perspiration will be flowing on that slow, controlled lap before twenty four Chevrolet blocks churning out 600 brake horsepower are unleashed in pursuit of the Golden crown. The nerves and the tension will instantly be dismissed as the green flag drops and it’s `race on!’ - At 70mph being buffeted, bumped and cajoled into every turn requires the ultimate concentration and focus to avoid becoming fence fodder as the daunting 200 kilo wrought iron girders that circumnavigate the fast, tight and tricky Owlerton oval await their prey with no sympathy or respect. Sit back and enjoy the spectacle and pageant that makes BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing unique as the World’s toughest motor sport - and, dare I pinch a little bit of Barnum & Bailey - The Greatest Show on Earth!
