  6. ONE OF THE TOP TWO EVENTS AT THE `VUE' THIS YEAR! THE TRADITIONAL BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP - 9 thunderous F1 races! Whilst you may already be aware - please note we have brought the start time forward to 2.00.pm for the F1 BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP at BELLE VUE Manchester on Sunday 11th October. With no F1 racing on the Saturday night, we felt it would be more helpful particularly to travelling fans and drivers to start earlier and finish earlier to allow you to get home at an earlier time. Tunstiles will open at Noon - Pit Gate 10.30.am Bookings are coming in - Lower graders are welcome to apply for bookings for whilst first choice goes to the top 60 - it is very rare if at all those spaces are taken as some drivers race tarmac, etc - We want a full entry of 60 cars, the event carries a massive prize purse - and bookings should for this meeting be made to BARRY TEMPEST by 30th September. The meeting features a full format 8 heats + British Championship Final for F1 Stock Cars and 3 races for Spedeworth 2 Lite Saloons ending with the 2009 LADIES RACE - enquiries to Kay direct [ open only to genuine enthusiastic amateurs for good causes ] and this has been sponsored by the Clare family for silverware. 7. Sunday 6th September 1.30.pm KIDZ CLUB DAY OUT This excellent event takes place this Sunday 6th September at the Wainman HQ in Silsden and is an opportunity to meet Frank Senior, Junior and Danny, ask questions and explore the farm and its stock car heritage. Kids Club Members have exclusive access between 1.30.pm until 3.30.pm, where after all are welcome to stop for a free and easy `party' disco and possibly a live band - and a chance to meet some more of the sport’s personalities - It really is a day not to miss! We are delighted that the BBC wish to come along and film this great family event as part of the series they are currently filming following the 2009 F1 Stock Car season. Events such as this reflect the fact that Stock Car racing is a family orientated sport where drivers, even World Champions, are happy to talk to kids enthusiastic to meet their heroes. However if you have any concerns about Kidz club members being `on camera' please do let us know, in advance if possible, as the BBC are more than happy to only film those who wish to be filmed. The BBC Producers will be on hand to talk to on Sunday if you have any questions. Also, a reminder about the great `Design the Programme Cover Competition' for the prestigious British Drivers Championship at Belle Vue on October 11th. It is your opportunity to design the cover for the souvenir A4 programme. I cannot believe from 1 entry so far that we have not got loads of creative and talented Kids! The deadline for entries is Sunday 6th when you can bring them with you, drop them off with Jackie at the sweet stall at Coventry, send them by e-mail or post - The entries will be judged Sunday by Frank and Danny, so come on, get on with it, do us proud - they can be freehand drawings / montage or the more PC friendly computer derived - Whilst the winner will feature as programme cover, we hope to use others as illustrations within........Come on!

  11. We have tried as much as we can for this event - There are various adverts including tomorrows Daily Mirror - The F1 entry is shaping up well, as of yesterday morning certainly looking enough for 2/3rds format and we are optimistic of one or two more. Heritage entries both classes looking good - wil be good to see Mike Shirley in the #3 car and the 6 wheeler side by side! Plus of coursw 26 Ministox which never fail to impress. 12. After a lot of careful consideration and listening to people we have decide to amend Pit access at Sheffield for Sunday 26th July. FREE PIT AREA ACCESS As previously explained we have to introduce a control with regard access to the pits and this has to be done via the turnstiles and a wristband obtained to gain access. This is how it has to be. There has been considerable debate over a nominal £1 charge, done to cover administration however, without getting out the sick bucket, we are not as a promotion in the business of alienating customers - quite the reverse and actively encourage constructive criticism and suggestions. As a promotion, we have done everything possible to contain costs with no increases for 2009 and where possible reduce costs and therefore the charge was designed to cover the admin cost. However, referring to the above, we have to listen and acknowledge peoples views and therefore for 2009 at least we have with immediate effect removed the nominal charge - it will, therefore be free - and we will revisit for 2010. There are some things important to fight for and some better to listen to - and this is one of those points. Sheffield needs everyones support, Sundays event looks good car wise and we as promoters in fairness should not contribute to creating prejudices. I re-iterate however that you must obtain a wristband in the manner prescribed. This isn't a U turn in commenting on forums - or necessarily that we have an event on Sunday - we do read forums and where applicable take on board some points if we can. In the end, forums and the internet are with us to stay and can be an integral part of the sport - what we all have to do is find a sensible way to re-engage and move on so points can be debated/ discussed sensibly.
  13. Following up this from a few weeks ago, as agreed with the VETERANS ASSOCIATION a concessionary admission price of £9 for VET CLUB members has been agreed - you must please produce a valid membership card and we hope you support this first of what hopefully will be more regular gatherings. Booking list is looking encouraging and will be published wed/thursday - Guy and ourselves have joined forces to add an extra £20 start money for every F1 that does the Scunthorpe / Sheffield double header.
  14. Steph has updated list - and will update again, now around 40 F1's latest to book in F1's 249 and 259 few extra Tooz as well
  15. BELLE VUE'S 10th BIRTHDAY Bank Holiday Monday at Manchester's Belle Vue is a celebration of 10 years of BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing at Kirmanshulme Lane - and to celebrate the event it comes with a big tag as far as Formula One Stock Car Racing is concerned with a vital F1 World Championship Qualifying Round and National Series round offering vital points. Rochdale's Smith brothers including reigning World Champion Andrew will be looking to secure points to get them vital front spots on the forthcoming Semi Final grids. Local drivers include popular veteran Manchester ace Rob Bradsell whose career spans five decades, Mike Heywood and up coming Swinton racer Scott Davids. For many years the `new' stadium has lived in the shadows of the former Hyde Road circuit which closed for redevelopment at the end of 1988 however the Greyound Stadium race circuit has now become one of the UK's top venues, popular with drivers and race fans alike. As part of the celebration, Warwickshire based Mike Shirley will be bringing along the fully restored 1960's racer of former World Champion Ellis Ford who also won the first ever event at Nelson's Seedhill Stadium on July 22nd 1967. The Ford car has been lovingly re-created by Mike and will make it's track debut to remind race fans and spectators of how bold and brash the sport used to be in the swinging sixties. Mondays event starts at 5.30.pm although Mike hopes to put in a few acclimatisation laps from around 5.pm. Further details and competitor entry lists so far can be found on www.startrax.info/next meeting

  20. CARPET SLIPPERS INSTEAD OF WELLIES ? Major Sheffield Pits Re-vamp! As part of long terms plans for Steel Cities OWLERTON STADIUM work starts Monday 26th April for major groundworks to get underway in the much maligned pit area that has proven problematic over the years. Startrax have invested a considerable sum which will see heavy equipment delivered and a topping of motorway scalpings.
