After a thrilling last couple of qualifying rounds, the scene is set for the climactic BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing Shoot Out Finale at Manchester's Belle Vue Stadium this coming Sunday 30th October at 4.pm The run in has been awesome with no quarter given, the points say it all and with a double points haul on offer and well over 100 points to be taken, the silver roof is destined to be decided between the top 3 despite a late surge from Tom Harris thwarted with a puncture in the final round, faces a battle from fourth but not one that can be discounted mathematically. All the ingredients are in place for a compelling showdown! Nigel Green has astounded the sport and confounded the form book since his recent entry into BriSCA F1 but with a mere 20 points between him and Rob Speak, who equally wishes to bow out on a high together with Dan Johnson hot on their heels. 6. He's raced a Mat Newson hire car a few times over the last few years. Think he's raced domestic stuff before. I might have dreamed this but on one of his previous outings, I think I read somewhere he's also raced on a desert in the USA. Check out the entries for 1996 in the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association's 130mph Club. Maybe not the same guy?
  7. Final numbers from Trackstar are 46 F1s, 42 2L Saloons and 33 Minis.
  8. No changes to the booking list. Here's a sneak preview of tonight's program.
  9. Trackstar press release: F1 Stock Car fans are in for a real treat this Saturday at the Adrian Flux Arena as the penultimate round of the F1 Stock Car National Points Shoot Out is contested. King's Lynn has traditionally been the "make or break" round as far as drivers' ambitions of going silver. Over the past couple of seasons the National Points Champion elect has had to do the hard work at Lynn by winning at least one race at the final Lynn round and recording a top five finish in the final to use as a springboard to seal the deal in the series finale. (4 Dan Johnson won a heat and was fourth in the final last year, whilst 318 Rob Speak won the Lynn final to catapult himself from nowhere to eventual championship success in 2014). A massive turnout of 47 F1 Stock Cars are booked in to race and as well as the Shoot Out drivers, in a night where "everyone who is anyone" is booked to appear, there are a whole host of top star grade drivers booked for action including former World Champions 53 John Lund and 390 Stuart Smith, with Smith set to make his first appearance of the season at King's Lynn. 6 F1 Stock Cars races are scheduled including the traditional Lynn White & Yellow race, and as always at King's Lynn there is a large amount of low grade drivers booked in whose contribution to the meeting is every bit as important as those who start at the back of the grid and it is great to see so many of them booked in!

  11. More from Trackstar's superb meeting preview Multi Champion 318 Rob Speak will be making his final F1 Stock Car appearance at King's Lynn and will be looking to go out with a bang! 84 Tom Harris made up a lot of ground in the Shootout last weekend to move into third place 4 Dan Johnson was involved in some big incidents at Northampton last weekend and will be looking to bounce back! No less than a final win will suffice for World Champion 1 Frankie Wainman if he wants to keep alive his hopes of winning the silver roof Norfolk's 16 Matt Newson will be hoping for a good night at his home track 220 Will Hunter was certainly making the sparks fly last weekend with some big hits including a big attack on 212 Danny Wainman 94 John Dowson always puts in a great performance at King's Lynn and is likely to be amongst the front runners on Saturday Former World Champion 53 John Lund will be in action

  15. Press release from Trackstar The Shootout for the BriSCA Formula One Stock Car National Points Championship crown reaches its penultimate round at the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday night (22 October), with a large entry of the sport’s biggest stars set to do battle. Also in action on a big night of stock car racing are Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars, who have two titles on the line, and the stars of the future in National Ministox. With just two rounds to go in the National Points Shootout, it’s Leicestershire’s 445 Nigel Green who currently leads the way as he chases the silver roof that has been his focus all year. However, the legendary 318 Rob Speak – set to make his last ever appearance at the track before embarking on a new career as a promoter – is breathing down his neck, just five points behind. Speak scored a consolation and final double last time out at King’s Lynn, and that kind of form must make him the favourite for success. King's Lynn has tended to be the defining round of the National Points chase in recent years and following a big weekend of heavy action on the tar last weekend, the action is set to go a notch higher again this Saturday. In addition to Speak, three other former champions are chasing Green down, although they all have some ground to make up in the points. Currently in third, despite only having one car at his disposal to use on both surfaces, is 84 Tom Harris. The ‘Hitman’ dominated last weekend’s tarmac affairs at Birmingham and Northampton; can he translate that form to shale, at the track where he was crowned World Champion three years ago? Next up is defending champion 4 Dan Johnson. The Worksop man has hauled his way back into contention, winning the final at Sheffield two weeks ago, then placing second at Birmingham last weekend. He was on the end of some rough stuff at Northampton, so expect him to be using the bumper to full effect this weekend. Fifth in the standings, but nearly 70 points off the pace, is World Champion 515 Frankie Wainman Jr. Winner of the first two finals of the year at King’s Lynn, he has been the man to beat all year, particularly on shale, but now finds himself with only an outside chance of securing the silver roof. Sixth-placed 2 Paul Harrison has had a strong year, including winning the final at the Adrian Flux Arena in May, plus two further top-three places in the main events at the track. He could prove to be a spoiler, like 212 Danny Wainman who currently occupies seventh and could well have at least half an eye on his elder brother’s chances. Norfolk’s top BriSCA F1 pilot 16 Mat Newson would have been aiming for better than his current eighth place in the Shootout standings, considering his second position in the season-long points chart, and will be hoping that home shale allows him to make some headway. 150 Mick Sworder has won more races at King’s Lynn than anyone else over the last few years, and is sure to entertain the crowd with his win-or-bust attitude. 217 Lee Fairhurst and 220 Will Hunter are more than capable on their day; Hunter could be one to watch after making the sparks fly last weekend. Of course it’s not all about the ‘Shooters’, with the strong turnout packed full of plenty more potential spoilers. 94 John Dowson Jr and 104 Paul Spooner both went well at our last outing, while 335 Mark Woodhull is something of a track specialist and local favourite 326 Mark Sargent is sure to have plenty of support on the terraces. Former World Champions 53 John Lund and 390 Stuart Smith Jr, along with 259 Paul Hines, are some of the big names not in contention for the Shootout. Then at the other end of the spectrum are rising stars 25 Bradley Harrison, 422 Ben Riley and 555 Frankie Wainman Jr Jr who all surely have very bright futures.

  24. Probably not the lead singer of punk band Orange Juice, who went solo and had a hit in the mid 1990s with "A Girl Like You".... Former Ministox driver "Fast Eddie", I think? And probably related to 148 Tim Collins, who's had a few outings in the Carl Pickering car. Think Tim is one of Carl's mechanics and/or sponsors.
