From Skegness Stadium We look forward to our first Speedweekend of the year, and welcome back to three stock car formulas of Brisca F1, Brisca F2 and National Mini Stox. A welcome back to the big league of F1 Stock Cars with visitors from Holland booked in its all adding up to be a fantastic two days. With the addition of young drivers this year, the title could quite easily go to another youngster. Currently 65 cars are booked to race. The races on Sunday qualify for the UK Championship which will be run in graded order. The UK is sponsored by “The Kaleta Family” long standing members of the Skeggy officials team Eddie, Helen, and Richard. Press release from Startrax Monday's feature Final for BriSCA F1 at BELLE VUE will be a tribute to our great friend from the United States, Jamie Pfeifer. Very sadly Jamie passed way very recently and he has a number of friends here in the USA derived from his frequent visits - long standing fans will remember that Jamie was a regular 'USA' seed in World Finals and even after hanging up his racing boots maintained his relationship and visits to the UK, indeed remember bumping into him at the last Coventry World Final and ours previous to that and he was always full of life and anecdotes. Local fans Dave and Dot Ashworth formed a longstanding relationship with Jamie becoming good friends and looking after him during his regular visits.

It was an oversight on my part; my apologies. As for KL, I believe that many more Minis booked in than were expected, and hence they added an extra race for them - which I think is better than turning them away.

May I recommend that owing to fact of your mistake that you buy all the kids an ice cream Definitely.

There were some meetings in France in 1953, inspired by some "field" racing in Belgium, and that's what gave Digger Pugh the idea of something similar in the UK, and some of the French drivers came over. They obviously had an advantage, as the vast majority of drivers had no racing experience at all.

Friday 16th April 1954 was Good Friday, and the first ever stock car meeting in the UK took place at New Cross. Situated near Old Kent Road in South East London, New Cross Stadium was built as an athletics ground in the early 1900s. A greyhound track was added in 1933, and the following year a speedway track was built. The track was tiny, and after a few meetings the promotion moved to the much bigger Harringay, although the stock cars returned for one season in 1968 while Harringay was being refurbished. The stadium closed in 1969 and was demolished in 1975. The format for the first ever meeting was 4 heats and a Final. The heats were won by 12 William Camus, 42 Fred Parsons, 28 John Goody, and 38 Tanya Crouch. The Final went to Frenchman 11 Chevalier d'Orgeix. If anyone has the full results for this meeting, please let me know.
