THE ROLLING LAP by Patricia Abbott It covers 1954 to the early 60s and deals with the promoters, tracks and early background to the sport in East Anglia rather than the full details of results etc. It also puts stock car racing into context with what other entertainment the tracks were offering during the period. Much of the information is from lengthy visits to the record offices in Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Norwich, and Yarmouth, and interviews with some local stock car legends such as Alan Wardropper, Gerry Weir, and surviving members of the Frost family. Price £12 and available from the track shops at Ipswich at both the stock car and speedway track shops, and also at Aldershot Stadium. Also available from Dial Lane Books in Ipswich.
