  1. Morning Jane, you're an early bird. It's a glorious day here in Steel City.
  2. Update on 166: Halfshaft ok. Going at risk with vibration. Daz said it was Bob's phone ringing in his overall pocket.
  3. Pit news after Ht.4: H79 - Rear axle change. 166 - Possible r/h halfshaft gone. 335 - Porta power on the front right. A few starting to load up: 307, 136 & 532. Daz had been repairing the 166 car all night.
  4. Pit news after Ht.3: 515 - Welding front left bumper corner brace. 16 - Steering arm link sheared off at pump. L/h exhaust came off in t3. 483 - Welding left rear shocker mount. Two lads not able to race today: H880 - Undiagnosed engine trouble. 275 - Top of piston broken up. Spark plug bent. Terry thinks it's linked to the engine getting hot at B.Vue.
  5. Pit news after Ht's 1 & 2: 259 - Left front corner bent back. 326 - Wing mountings sheared. 136 - R/h nerf rail rear cross brace needs welding. 25 - Front right shocker u/s. H880 - Problem with the distributor.
  6. Mid morning pit news: 212 - Changing worn pulleys. Belts keep slipping. 136 - Welding right rear upper link location bracket. 25 - Front left corner work in op. Welding bumper brace, kingpin broken in 3 pieces, hub and stub axle u/s, and as expected the shocker. Fair bit of expense there. 84 - Grinding and welding on the front end steelwork. 268 - Gearbox change. Unable to select 2nd in the old unit. 166 - Replacement rear axle fitted, and using Callum's wing.

  8. Morning everyone. Early pit info regarding 515. Engine out. Oil pump drive failure. The 496 Neil Holcroft car has arrived on a trailer.
  9. Late update on 515: It's looking like the distributor drive. Old filter stripped down and looks perfect. Fingers crossed eh?
  10. Pit news after the Final: 515 - No oil pressure. Filter changed as a precaution but no joy as yet. 175 - Porta power on the front axle. 326 - Gearbox casing split. 220 - Left half shaft let go. 215 - Porta power on the left nerf rail. 16 - Right side exhaust parted company. That's it from the pits until tomorrow folks.
  11. Pit news after the Consi: 166 - Rear axle not ok now. Snapped in half at axle tube to diff housing on the right side. 124 - Gearbox u/s. 137 - Hole in the rad. 12 - Clutch let go. Update on 337 vibration: Flywheel cracked between hole centres(approx 50mm long), and a strange bulge near the outer edge. Marks within the bulge give an indication that the bits which broke off the gearbox at B.Vue had migrated forward and caused the damage. Dave has a spare flywheel but will need to weld the balance weight on in exactly the right place. He's considering doing it back in the workshop to get it bang on.
  12. Pit news after Ht 3: 55 - Craig had to pull off during the race. Car kept locking up. Diff change in op. 84 - Front right brake disc "blued" inc. outer edge. 124 - Torque arm adjust. 175 - Karl welding front right exhaust pipe back onto the manifold/header. 220 - The team having a look at the engine. Not running right. Update on 166 - Axle and rear links all ok. Panhards changed and brakes to bleed. Lost all fluid when it was upside down.
  13. Pit news after Ht.2: 166 - After catching the fence and rolling on the back straight the team are investigating the rear axle. Suspect it could be bent or rear bars misaligned. Wing u/s. H880 - Right nerf rail cross brace broken. 259 - Changing clutch. 337 - Vibration through the cab causing gearbox rear mounting bolts to loosen. Same prob as at B.Vue. Dave thinks it could be a misalignment of the clutch or flywheel. 4 - Changing gear set.
  14. Hello from Northampton. Pit news after Ht.1: 335 - Mark slowed and pulled off on the start straight on lap 1. The battery switch had switched itself off! Mark unable to reach it with belts on. 216 - Frankie having a look at the brake bias set up after Jack had too much rear. H61 - Propshaft change after prop bolt sheared going to the track. 37 - Chris adjusting front right shock. I agree with Nic regarding the track surface. It is indeed mint.
  15. Bobby's going to race the car at selected weekends. Jordan was non committal about his on track plans. I think he get's more enjoyment from designing and building them.
  16. Pit updates: A few lads with work to do from last night: 220 - Rear axle bent. Team straightening it out. 501 - GN damage sees George having to replace front right disc, hub, stub axle, straighten the front axle. Rear end also needs attention. 147 - Eddie with a lot of work on the front right corner. 300 - Paul and Murray straightening the front axle with an air driven porta power. 278 - Paul loaded up with a dropped valve. A legacy from the Buxton crash which saw the engine at full revs for a short time. 460 - Chris going through the set up after Sat night on track saw him on the limit of adhesion. 43 - Had a power steering pump leak onto the exhaust at scrutineering y'day which caused a small fire. A race win followed so all turned out well. 451 - Martin trying to sort a fuel pickup problem. 464 - GN damage leaves Luke with a bent front axle, r/h nerf rail support and smashed battery. 346 - Changing gear set. 543 - Hydraulic clutch let go when loading up last night. Car nearly went straight through the transporter bulkhead into the seats! Routine race prep for the majority. That's it from the pits today folks. Normal service will be resumed from the Euro's.   17. Pit news this weekend folks will just be the one update before Sunday's meeting. Not a minute of on track action can be missed 👍

  19. Pit news after the Final: 463 - Right side of rear axle tube split. Prop shaft in two pieces. 37 - Lug snapped off gearbox. 175 - Rocker cover gasket gone. Update on 212: Plug stayed in. All ok. That's it from the pits folks. Back in 2 weeks from Skeggy. Pics in the gallery tomorrow.

Pit news after the Consi: 303 - After a Phoebe hit into the turn 3 fence, Karl has a right rear corner to straighten, and front left shocker to change after the top half sheared from the mount. 337 - A lap and a half after Sean felt a vibration the gearbox let go. Casing split. 127 - Lost brakes during the race. 345 - A 3-5 sec delay before the revs pick up coming out of the corners. Jake working on the carb etc. 45 - Front left caliper being worked on. 55 - Left rear shocker top mount sheared off after a 401 Wacker attack. Craig on the welder.
  21. 137 - Fan change after l/h breather pipe came out of the rocker cover and wrapped itself around the fan. Update on 515: Oil leak traced to a crack in the axle tube to diff joint. Welded up and ready to go.
  22. 415 - Starter motor solenoid stuck out. 220 - Team trying to sort a low revs problem. As soon as the track dries out the engine won't pick up. An ongoing problem for a while now.
  23. Pit news after Ht.2: Update on 212: New plug fitted with PTFE tape. Fingers crossed. The team now trying to bottom a power steering problem. Steering box changed pre meeting, belt changed, leaking pipe tightened. Danny now changing pump. 515 - Oil leak from back of the engine. Not sure whether box or engine yet.
  24. Hello from Belle Vue Pit news after Ht.1: Plug trouble for 175 & 212. Danny's engine's blown a plug out of the right side, and Karl has got a melted lead on the left. 211 - A tangle with 53 in turn 3 sees Phoebe left with a front left shocker that's fit for the bin. 259 - Porta power and the grinder on the front right corner. 166 - Front left hub change. 337 - Right half shaft external end sheared.
