  1. Yes, 20% VAT on a cash sale payment with no ticket, invoice or receipt goes to government

You beat me to it Andy.

Indeed it's 20% of declared takings.

I have certainly never received a ticket or proof of payment for any camping at here or Skeggy.

This means i can't claim it on Business expenses ! ..................................... joke

I don't think Rebels get start money, but why no Rebels European this year ?

Whether £40 is value for money lies very much with the individual.

Personally , this is better value than £45 at Skeggy. BUT each to their own on this debate. There's no right or wrong answer.

  2. That's a great question Will. I'd love to know to

And whilst we're at it, Has Jordan himself packed in for good ?

Bobby bedded the car in well on Saturday, then was absolutely flying on Sunday.

If the car is his, he'll be a Superstar in no time at all, with performances like that.

I suspect the car is being prepared for Venray next month.

  3. To work out my own next move, I've brought up Jane's results page from Saturday last year to check the timescale.

Heat 1 was Trust Fund race , all top drivers in that one, Jane's "Cars on track" post at 3.14pm

Grand National , Jane's "Cars on track" post at 7.20pm

So roughly just over 4 hours in total, and a lot of party time afterwards, to boost Bar takings to the max

With very much regret, looks like i don't need to worry about where i'm sleeping . Very disappointed.

Hope all you party animals have a great weekend. Sounds like they've at least got the track sorted now, from recent reports.

Depending on the vibes i get from the Results thread Saturday, i might do Sunday only.

  4. It's horses for courses really. Everyone has different needs / preferences.

I've always done Travelodge in the past, but tried the camping 2 years ago.

To be frank, it was roughin' it, but ok for the one night, and the added bonus of being able to neck some ale, was the Brucie bonus.

My issue now is the 2.30pm start. What's that all about ? They did it last year (which i missed).
Is it something to do with needing an earlier finish ?

  5. So this is the next UK fixture ...............

The big question for me, will be if anyone plucks up the courage to have a go at Tom in this one.

The two formula format (F1 & F2) is just perfect. Good Luck to all drivers for the weekend, especially team Harrhy

Why is it such an early start Saturday, 2.30pm ? I missed last year, but it was 5pm in 2017.

Camping gone up a fiver then. I still say that is unfair to single people wishing to camp over. A camper van with five people staying over for example is £25 for all five not each!

I'm with you, sort of, on this one. But Policing is of course the problem.

    i paid £45 at Skeggy plus £20 camping = £65. Northampton would be £40 plus £25 = £65 , the same.

The difference is that you at least get a toilet & washing facilities to use after hours at Northampton. OK it's not the Hilton, but better than nothing.

Take yer own towels & paper is my advice.

You can stay 3 nights at Northampton to. No eviction notices.

And Carl, It's 2019 don't cha know :dgoggle:

  6. Cheers Graham 👍

We're here now but have hit a snag.

Security searched the flat pack and have confiscated the 24 cans of Stella we hid in there, and the 3 grandkids

How did they get in there ?

Anyway they're gonna hand them back to us at the end of racing tomorrow.

That's the kids, not the beers

We did a deal on the beers !

Great to see Andy Smith doing some laps, with Stu in the commentary box.

    The car looks superb

I so wish Andy was doing the whole meeting

  7. A man that is going to be difficult to catch this weekend, after a phenomenal performance at Ipswich, is Casey Engleston, 120.

I predict a shed load of points (over 80) and possibly both finals.

That's probably scuppered his chances now !

Charlie Sworder i thought moved up to the next level in his progression, and hopefully will give his family more to be proud about.

And all the others of course. Ashley England might keep his momentum going to.

The Stars might have to rely on waved yellows to challenge for wins this weekend

Some really quick low graders to contend with.

    Looking forward to it.......

  8. Next controversial topic - do they need to restrict the number of deckchairs allowed in to this weekend in the same way that Kings Lynn have for the World Final ??

This has been a fascination of mine for the last few years. Both at Skeggy and Northampton.

There is very little flat ground around the track, where fans can comfortably stand. The tiers around turns 1 & 2 do offer a little. Much of the rest is very uneven.

I've walked around the tiers when the stadium is empty and thought - Would you actually get more spectators around there that can actually see the racing, if there were no chairs ? I came to the conclusion that you'd get people stood on the edge of a tier, and anyone behind them, wouldn't see anyway.

I love that Rob is spending money on the place, but places to watch racing in more comfort needs attention.

Linky (as i remember) has brought up the issues for anyone not able to stand for hours on end, and i agree.

Meetings last longer than in the Sport's Heyday ,and us getting passed midlife find it less easy .

    So what's the answer ?

    Ask Confused dot Com

I don't use that bend by the way.

Onto booked drivers. There's still room for one more driver each day ........... (47 booked each day as i make this post)

  9. Can anyone remind me of how the F2's qualify for Sunday's UK Open Final, including how grid positions are decided ?

Could they just turn up Sunday and qualify, without much loss of grid position ?

I'm trying to quantify (to myself) why Saturday evening is £22, which is the same admission price as the British F1 Championship at Hednesford.

Parking at Hedno was free (if you could find a place) , £2 at Skeggy.

This isn't a moaning post, it's simply getting my head around comparing like with like, and whether to do both or one.

  10. We have had one F1 cancellation, Willie Skoyles making 38 at the moment albeit we may have one last addition to be confirmed in the next 24 hours! F2 wise, 51 cars as of noon today!

The official list states 36 booked in, incl Willie Skoyles

So, if the current list is 38, .......................

36 (official) less Willie Skoyles is 35.

So who are the mystery 3 to make up the 38 ?, even before the additional teaser to be announced in the next 24 hours ?

  11. Only a minor point, but i know it can be major for some :

The Press release says hopefully 6 F1 races, but the Programme of events states 6 races for F2's , 5 for F1's

(maybe hoping to sneak in a Whites & Yellows race ? )

Would be great if they could reach the 40 F1's they're aiming for

  12. Next year they could have Swaffham on the Sunday as it is now back in orci and Brisca

Ideal for me if they added a Sunday afternoon tarmac meeting to Ipswich weekend. Swaffham being so close to Ipswich makes it a more suitable prospect for me.

Plus it would be a new track to add to my portfolio !
