  1. Once upon a time, the Ben Fund race used to be a stand alone race, as i remember.

But on Saturday, the Cons Semi Final will be a stand alone race, with NOBODY qualifying for the meeting Final .

    Is that right ?

Then the Ben Fund race will be - "a race for only drivers that have been Red or Superstar this season – a hard fought race with around 25 of the best F1 Stock Cars drivers".

This will include around 8 drivers that have already fought their hearts out in the Cons Semi. How many will qualify for the Final from the Ben Fund race ?

It doesn't seem right to me that none of the 29 drivers from the Consolation Semi will qualify for the meeting Final.

Then , if 8 drivers from the Ben Fund race were to qualify for the meeting final, that leaves around 17 "of the best F1 Stock Car drivers", chasing how many meeting final places from the normal Consolation race ?.

Basically, the Cons Semi Final should be one of the Heats, and the Ben Fund race a stand alone race

  2. Hannah is fairly established driver in F1 already. She has done a number of meetings, including 2 (or more?) Under 25 Championship races. She was part of the Tim Warwick team for years before being old enough to race F1 herself, she uses Tim's car. I think she also races Stoxkarts and has raced go-karts in her younger years as well.

254 Scott hires from Matt newspn

497 Carl bought a car from Matt newspn alsways in booking list but not turned up half of the time

339 ant had f1 couple seasons only does tarmac hes recently bought the ex mark Sargent tarmac car turned up at hendo for British

All 3 have been out before this season.

    Thank You all :bigthumb:

Good Luck to all of them,

Looking at the points chart, they all appear to be Pointless at this stage of the season :smile-frown:

  3. Not a bad turn out really.

Nice to see another lady hitting the tracks. Anyone know anything about Hannah Chappel - other formulas, her car, family connections to F1 etc ?

Some other new names on there (to me )
    497 Carl Dugdale

    339 Ant Lee

    254 Scott Wright

A special Good Luck to Kelvin Hassell. We need more characters like him. He really brought a smile to my face at Sheffield Semi parade..

  4. I was stood on turn 4 where the incident happened. Phoebe and Ashley hooked up for a few seconds, definately not enough time for anyone to complete a full lap. It all depends on how far infront of the incident James was. I suspect maybe half a straight length??

Hopefully someone has consulted a video replay and can see exactly where James was in relation to Phoebe/Ashley when the free themselves.

In that case, there's no way James could have completed a lap and overtaken 211 & 346.

James wanted to unlap himself at the 1st restart, and wasn't allowed to. he was going backwards from then on, in so far as 217, 4 etc also lapped him. Maybe Liam didn't get to lap him (?)

Think they must have got it right in the end

  5. So, with Charlie Sworder booked in, Whose car will Mick use ?

My guess, as suggested, is the 390 World winning car .

If Bobby Griffin is using the new Falding car, just watch him go. He was flying at the last Sunday Skeggy meeting.

He was the highest finishing Star - S/S in Heat (2nd) & GN (3rd) plus 6th in the Final (2nd highest Star - S/S)

  6. i saw James was a lap down, weather he caught and passed Ashley when he stopped with Phoebe i don't know, without seeing a video

Did James pull back a complete lap in the time it took for Phoebe and Ashley to get going again ?

At the moment 211 & 346 came a cropper, James would have been just in front of them, a lap down (?).

Not sure what the videos would show. i went into the Bar to rewatch the semi, to find out what exactly happened to Nigel Green

But it revealed nothing. 445 was behind 4 on turns 1 & 2. Filming then swapped to the other end, and as cars came through, 445 simply wasn't there. So i didn't get the answer i was looking for.

It would be very unfair to either driver (346 / 463) to get the result wrong, as happened to you Nigel.

In this case, a World Final grid position is at stake.

  7.

despite the BSCDA having a superduper new media team there have been no updates since the original semi grids were announced.

I was thinking exactly the same. There should have been an announcement already, stating which reserves have been given a Semi.

There are two at least required for this Semi. Charlie is listed as a Semi finalist at this meeting, as is 2nd reserve 348

    3rd & 4th reserves (93 & 11) are on the booking list

So Mick Sworder hasn't pulled out of the Buxton Semi , it would appear.

152 not raced all year but gets w semi place n taking it

    and good on him

  8. The weather is a slight worry at the moment, but forecasts are notoriously inaccurate.

Just worked out the savings that can be made.

4 full price weekend tickets bought now £162. On the day £188

So, £26 to spend on goodies, food & drink

    2 adults & 2 children . In advance £106. On the day £126

Worth buying 2 days in advance if you're going.

  9. I've just rang Incarace about admission prices as i was very confused dot com

On Saturday, you CANNOT buy a 2 day ticket .

They can only be bought in advance up to this Thursday at 4pm. Don't forget the £2 admin charge PER ORDER

Pre ordered tickets can be collected on Saturday.

So it's £47 full price tickets for the weekend, if not paid for, by Thursday 4pm (individual Concession prices also shown in 1st post)

  10. A few more entries and there might even be a full 3 heat meeting . Something to celebrate............ (here in Donny at least )

Question, as i've forgotten. Does grid positions for Sunday's F1 Euro, have anything to do with points on Saturday ?

For instance, Top red scorer starts at front of reds ?

At my last Euro, the F2's were drawn out of a hat. 154 was drawn up front and sailed off into the sunset. Very boring. (Has he retired ?)
Anyone know if this is still the procedure for the F2's ?

Agree with you Dave regarding the Rebels, though it would have been good to see them.

With having a weekend off, i'm edging back to doing both days for this one.

  11. The social side doesn't have to be about drinking a lot of alcohol, Some people want to fire up the barbie and sit around talking racing, having a bite to eat and a beer. That would be fine for me, but I don't want to be eating at midnight!!

Again, there has been a lot said about how things feel different in Holland in the pits, If you look at how they do it there, most teams have food on the go all day long, feeding the team and sponsors. share a beer or two after the meeting and talk racing.

In an ideal world, this would be wonderful . Awesome even. It certainly works for the drivers.

At Skeggy, i saw barbeques at the side of transporters. Cardboard cartons in the bins, that had held multi packs of Beers (wish i'd taken pics)

So where is the punter's barbeque, the paying public's right to enjoy a few social Beers and talk racing ? It certainly couldn't happen at Skegness. Folk spend an age queueing for food and drink.

Can Joe Public take barbeques into Texel ?

  12. case of darned if you do, danged if you don't// lot of people calling for the social side to be brought back, earlier start time allows for that..

    Agree with the statement Colin.

One would have thought that starting the meeting at 5.30pm, would still leave plenty of time for partying / socialising.

And i know 5.30pm is too early for some, so it's a difficult one.

I do remember that in 2017, with a 5.30pm start time, that the loud music carried on way beyond midnight, maybe 1am (??)

I couldn't get to sleep until it all finished.

So perhaps there is an element of this in their decision to bring the start time forward, apart from making more Bar takings.

If racing is done for 7.30pm, starting at 2.30pm, everyone should be worn out and unconscious by midnight.

Whether it's wise to put Bar takings & social before the majority's needs, is open to debate ...............
