  1. For the trackside parking, go into the main gate to the car park, which is the first one you come to, and almost as soon as you're in the car park, turn right and that's the entrance to the trackside parking area.

  11. As I understand it.... I believe he registered with a Dutch organisation (with his old F2 number cos 55 is already taken in Holland) because his car would be illegal or uncompetitive to race over here due to the new rule about rev limiters. That rule has now been postponed so there's no reason that he can't race in the UK. However, I don't think he can have a UK licence because he's already got a Dutch one (you can only have one or the other, not both), plus he's already had his wing signed up as H955, hence this year he's a Dutch driver. Something that comes up regularly...... "Dutch" drivers and "UK" drivers - this refers to where they took their licence out, and has nothing to do with their nationality or what country they live in.

  18. Press release from Startrax HEART BREAK HOTEL! The big question, should we or shouldn't we not have run Sunday ? Pure agony from Thursday onwards and an extremely difficult dilemma for a number of reasons. In fairness despite the extreme cold forecast, come the weekend until midnight Saturday the Greater Manchester area suffered little or no snow. Phones,texts,e-mails were non stop Saturday until around 10.pm - we even received a call at 2.am Sunday morning! Early Start Sunday at 6.am up and checking - more important for us was the forecast for the evening as we have to consider that fans and drivers could get home. The track had snow on and with Greyhound staff work started at 6.30.am - and credit to the Greyhounds, they ran as scheduled at 11.am and in fact were the only track in the UK to run. When we arrived, we were devastated that the FunFair were still there, scheduled to leave late Saturday but couldn't get out or get to their destination and decided to 'stay put' after the stadium management had left. As you would imagine, I was not happy and after an exchange of views with the General Manger of the stadium, no point arguing, falling out because it would not solve the problem as time is ticking on and in true Dunkirk spirit we got on with it, moving wagons to clear roadways and space - getting them to leave at that point was a non stater, trying to get all those vehicles out as we wish to get ours in, alongside Greyhound Racing would have been a disaster! The sort of perfect storm had circled. Whilst uncertain how many drivers would actually make it, we had made certain assessments that numbers may halve and would be enough, in the end several F1 and F2's cancelled and numbers considering for VERY respectable and racing WAS good. We did final preps to the track and I walked around it about 10.am - that was the good thing, it was firm and hard! So we were gutted when a 'hole' developed on turn 3/4 although that shouldn't detract from the rest of the track which held up superbly. After working until 10.30pm and then from 8.am yesterday morning we had a form of post mortem, early concerns were that it may be a collapsed drain however, it appears that it was a 'soft spot' where salt from the Greyhound track had got underneath, softened the stone up and loosened it and thankfully did not affect the base. Given the depth of material now on the track and new, the racing 'worked it' and dried it to the point the track went back perfectly and without a word of exaggeration with some top dressing Speedway could have run on it last night! Another load of shale is being delivered later in week and we will publish some further photos within 24 hours. As stated yesterday a huge thank you to everyone involved, from our perspective it has been a VERY expensive Winter, Sunday at best broke even, hopefully in the weeks to come we might generate some revenue if and when the weather improves although there is now speculation over Easter, not good news for promoters particularly the unprecedented number of early season meetings cancelled, the tank is running low! You have to have a passion for it, a strong stomach, strength to over come disappointment and optimism that there will be sunnier day. without which, trust me, you would chuck in the towel - But you have to keep the faith!!! But, at least we got it on and hopefully everyone got home safely - Thank you
  19. There's some snow on the infield. My apologies. The weather is fine, although a couple of southerners have complained that it's a bit nippy.
  20. There is no snow at all at Belle Vue, and the surrounding roads are clear.
  21. BELLE VUE DEFINATELY ON - ALL SYSTEMS GO! 8.30.am SUNDAY 18th March After an assessment at 7.30.am and several hours to go with no further snow showers forecast after 9.am there is very little lying snow and the track is in excellent condition and MAY even need a water! All surrounding roads are clear and we expect that to be an improving situation as the morning goes by. Greyhound racing is still on this morning. Wrap up warm, drive carefully and remember we do have a nice warm race view huge glass fronted grandstand.
  22. It closed last September, the domain name expired in November and was not renewed, and there's been nothing at all from the new owners. So I've made a start on a new section on Stoxnet which will be a basic replacement site for results, drivers, tracks, etc. I've decided to call it Since 1954, but I'm open to suggestions for a better name. You can view progress to date here - Since 1954 Nowhere near as comprehensive or as colourful as briscaf1stox.co.uk as yet, but it should hopefully go some way towards answering any historical questions. Just facts and figures at the moment but longer term I'm hoping to add photos, programme scans, etc.... and probably a few stats - any requests? It took Paul the best part of ten years to get his site to the standard it was, so it's not going to be any time soon.
