  1. Lost a fair bit of respect for DJ#4 in the final - can only imagine it was retribution aimed at Team Davidson (not at Tom personally, as such) for the shootout last year when Speaky did something not hugely dissimilar to end Dan's chance of a silver roof. Still, the fact remains that it rather spoiled the occasion for me - although credit where it's due, Frankie's hit on Tom was mighty impressive and UNDOUBTED retribution for the recent Sheffield world qualifier!
  2. Thanks for the reply, Nic, much appreciated....I dare say Finn won't be thanking me though
  3. Quick question on the final if anyone can advise please - one assumes there is a limit on the number of drivers that actually qualify for the championship race - does anyone know how many that will be? Also, I assume that there are effectively reserves if for any reason a final-qualified driver can't make it onto the championship grid due to damage etc? Super-excited for this - some of the heat splits look potentially brutal PS I was of the understanding that Craig #55 was s/s...no mention of him being downgraded in the relevant post on here yet felt sure he'd been upgraded to s/s commencing May? He's shown as a-graded on the heat splits....
  4. Thank you, Steve Rees, for the highly informative update...you should be congratulated for engaging with this community and I sincerely hope many of us on here will show appreciation and vote in your favour with our wallets. I suspect the final WQR will be a great meeting and very much intend to vote with my hard-earned...good luck getting stuff sorted in the meantime.
  5. You guys do an absolutely amazing job - to think that ANYONE is complaining or even passing slightly negative comment about the hard work you do is a bit staggering really - I for one am just really grateful that you bother to do it at all. Keep up the great work and thank you sincerely again
  6. Looks like we may well be missing Nigel Green on Sunday which would be a shame - he's on holiday according to his Facebook page but I'm not sure if he's planning to come back and compete.
  7. Already a done deal as per the grading changes thread...same applies Lee#217 who is re-graded to s/s
  8. Good work, team, thanks for the results - look forward to reading more about the final, sounds like a good one!
  9. Excellent job, as always. Thank you! Seems that young Mr Steward is fast gaining a fairly impressive adult oval racing cv!
  10. Nice touch - providing he doesn't drink all the beer before anyone else gets to try it!
  11. From Memory 3 are Saturday only 1 Sunday rest are doing both days. And for those who struggle to get there for Start time on the Saturday the first F1 race is race 5 with the final and GN under the lights! If you want to know the rest of the format buy a programme! Really appreciate the reply, Paul...and wow....what a fantastic weekend it is going to be. AUTOMATICALLY DELETED WORD typical really that we have guests for the weekend....my strategy is going to be to get them leathered on Saturday night and sneak out first thing Sunday morning! Will be following the results live on Stoxnet, of course....but for those that might fancy doing some Facebook Live streaming, I'd welcome their efforts!!
  12. Hi, Paul - at the risk of causing you brain trauma (!!!), one assumes some of these drivers are booked in Sunday only...or are pretty much all drivers making a full weekend of it?
  13. Same. I will no doubt be getting a RIGHT round of F***s off my missus but can't miss this....reading over last year's reports, I just hope the drivers save themselves for the title on Sunday rather than trying to mince each other on Saturday night!!
  14. I think it's a perfectly good question, I suspect borne out of simple excitement - which should never be derided or belittled! I too like to know ASAP which drivers are booked in so I can take a look at past results/recent form to get a sense of who to keep an eye on at the meeting. I also think it fair to say that driver numbers may well be a factor in whether people decide to attend or not - which again is fair enough I think?
  15. Just an anecdotal thought from me - I am in the business of branding and marketing and the best possible scenario for ALL businesses is frequent and honest engagement with customers. It's the way that really successful global organisations retain customers and also gain new ones. I applaud Steve for his efforts to keep us all in the loop (other promoters would certainly benefit from this general approach and to go yet further by doing more on social media etc) and urge all stoxnetters plus their friends (and their friends too) to respond in kind by voting with their wallets and attending more meetings. As I said prior to the start of the season when the Brandon debacle was in full flow, more crowds = bigger prizes = more drivers. It might be an equation with idiosyncrasies and flaws but I'm certain that if Steve and his fellow promoters were packing out each stadium 6 times a year with prize pools up sized accordingly then the drivers would respond in kind by rewarding and entertaining us with their participation
  16. You'll not be disappointed, Rob, more or less guaranteed some good action and has always ranked highly on here in terms of racing rating. Enjoy!
  17. Yep, it's a Newson built car but according to Sarge, it's the first Mat has done to this particular design & spec. He certainly seems to like it though! Sarge back with us at the end of May so no doubt Mat will be seeking to make hay in it before then...and from further forward on the grid for 4 weeks or so too (that said, there's only Lynn and BV at the end of May where the surface will fully suit the motor - whether Mat can successfully overhaul any of the 5 drivers above him in the table during that time remains to be seen).
  18. Think he may be going to Venray with 464 and a few others. Yep, definitely is. Confirmed.
  19. That's all well and good, but we all know that a) stock car drivers have long memories and once he is at the front, he will have a metaphorical target on his back bumper...... Problem is I haven't seen TH84 at the front in a race this season so he should be pretty safe. Good banter, gentlemen, nice one! I think we all know that Tom's time will come this season - both in the respect that he WILL hit the front and WILL get despatched by FWJ! Perhaps we should keep a 'score' between now and the end of the season as regards how many times each can (effectively) end one another's race? That might be fun!
  20. I've heard on the grapevine that TH#84 prefers cable and post perimeters and is waiting to serve it up on Bank Holiday Monday at Belle Vue instead
  21. Happy to oblige, Richard! I had a word with Tom before the meeting kicked off - i mentioned the fact that FWJ had apparently had a nibble at him on Monday and took the opportunity to remind Tom about the crazy Belle Vue shootout at the end of last season Suffice to say that TH did NOT disappoint! I missed it but am led to believe that TH fenced FWJ in the third heat...however, Frank was ROYALLY planted by Tom in the GN to a crescendo of both cheers and boos (I led the former) and it was noted by the crowd with a mixture of more boos and laughs (I led the latter) when Frank seemed to wag his finger, point and put thumbs up to Tom as he was being dragged backwards out of the fence and across the infield....It was pure stock car racing gold - MOST enjoyable. Also worth mentioning that Tom's speed and intensity went on to cause SSJ to totally overcook it into turn 1 later in the same race - fencing and race over being the same net result. There are some absolutely wonderful sub plots beginning to emerge already this season and I can't wait to see what happens next!!
  22. Fantastic meeting - just driving back and the car is full of really upbeat chatter - proper stock car racing, well done to all and especially Mat for a great drive in Sarge's car. The needle between Tom Harris and FWJ is going into MELTDOWN this year!!
  23. I must admit that I'm surprised more aren't attending to get squared up for the British but then what do I know?! That said, with almost half the entry being either star or super-star graded (and a fair few others A-graded), I suspect we're in for a top quality afternoon regardless To be fair, I'm sure novice-graded and even C's that know their way round a stockcar track have done the right thing (or at least the safe thing) by avoiding this one!!
