suporstox ?? Come on Carrot, you know it's Superstox. And it's Saloon Stock Cars, not Saloon stock or Saloonstox ( You will get shot by Crispen) ! I have certainly seen him race Bangers, Saloon Stock Cars and a Superstox (which was paid for by someone else). I think it has been discussed in a previous thread on here how many formulae Woody has raced. I will also point out that during the war mentioned above Deane did hit another car 1 lap after he put it on it's roof. Putting a car in the fence is Stock Car Racing, but hitting a dead car is certainly not Racing !! (Hitting dead cars even in Bangers at the time was labelled as being "Lossy").

I've got it Roy, when it was originally done by Doral Video. And if I remember correctly, he was interviewed by current speedworth programme contributor Danny Rushton's mum (god bless her soul). Still can't understand a word of what Bob Jones (151) says in the video though !!! When Deane talks about the war with the Langridge's though, he played it down far to much. As it did get out of hand, notably 309 Mark 'Chippy' Chipling ending up in the Aldershot fence with the wires on his chest because of the war. Scary stuff !!

Them pics remind me of a similar incident at an Ipswich Speedweekend when a certain Deane Wood aimed his Saloon at Gorden Barclay and missed !! But Deane (in the infamous "Betsy" crashed into the brand new car of ?? 531 Paul Hurrell (i think, I'm getting old). The passenger side iron could of been used as an armrest, as it was in the centre of the 531 car !!

I fear you are right Roy. Regarding non racing stuff, I'm fine with it. Until you post it I won't know if I find it interesting /informative will I ? Might be a good idea to get the nod from the mods first though aye?

Fill your boots Roy, although you might need a lot of material ready as I fear we could be in for a bit of a marathon off season. Only time will tell.

Thanks for the reports Roy. Alfasud's were always known for being rot boxes. It's a shame that the Zephyr and A55 got raced though. If we smash them all up what do we have to show our kids what motoring used to be like. (Pictures are not as good as the real thing btw). It's fair enough IF it's to far gone but I have seen some old cars raced as Bangers which didn't have any rot at all.

That's not hard is it though ? Watching paint dry beats watching the current dross served up as Saturday night tv.

Nice report Roy, only thing is 'A','B'&'C' grades is a Brisca thing. In Spedeworth land (where Saloon Stock Cars started) its just Blue, Yellow & White grades. Brisca Star grade = Red and Superstar = Star/Champion. And whatever you do don't call them Saloonstox, Cripen Rosevear will go mental !! Good thing Reckitts is shut, if it was still open Environmental Health would have kittens. Probably Blue ones at that, lol.

i think that before the Grand National races were introduced all the last race were called the Helter SkelterIndeed. All the tracks I have been to which have run a race after the meeting final have referred to it as either a Helter Skelter or Allcomers.

Regards Ipswich and Arena Essex, are you sure that dust is not shale dragged onto the track from cars in other race's rejoining from the centre ? Also, anyone who has raced around Arena Essex will know that the track cambers the wrong way about 2 car widths from the aforementioned speedway track. (ie. you automatically get sucked towards the safety fence rather than the centre).

F2 are having a pre-meeting race at 5:10. Proper meeting starts at 5:30 So why is it listed in "Meeting Format and Heat Splits" if its not part of the meeting ? Perhaps it should of been listed as a note rather than the first item in that section ??
