  1. Didn't Len Wolfenden do it in the 1983 World Final? I will take your word for it Carl. Far to long since 1983.
  2. Correct. The first use of the rear bumper was by 84 on 217 a couple of years ago at NIR when I think he was trying to slow Lee down so Speaky in the other team car could catch? What goes around! All great for the sport and gets the fans going.
  3. You can park in the casino car park but it is £2 normally
  4. From Memory 3 are Saturday only 1 Sunday rest are doing both days. And for those who struggle to get there for Start time on the Saturday the first F1 race is race 5 with the final and GN under the lights! If you want to know the rest of the format buy a programme! One last thing Paul........I will be cutting it fine on Sunday to get there for 12. Can you tell us wHen is the first F1 race on the programme?
  5. Great numbers. Can't do Saturday but may have to head to Skegvegas Sunday.
  6. Debatable... cars-v-rating.png Ratings from http://www.stoxnet.com/driver-of-the-day.phpand attendances from http://points.f1stockcars.com/attendances.htm Three lowest in season meetings are the three lowest racing ratings. Highest turnout was Birmingham which from a purely personal point of view I don't like going to as I don't find the racing there very exciting. I have seen some good low turnout meetings going back to the days of Hartlepool and Aycliffe. The original point was that people often decide wether to attend a meeting based on car numbers. Maybe I have lost a bit of enthusiasm this year after 40 years of attending meetings but I find myself in that category this season.
  7. I second that Ozzy, Gone are the days that I would go whatever the numbers are booked in. Have been picking my meetings this year until the shale numbers increase a little. Not a question of money but generally the greater the numbers the better the meeting so we have been to KL, Stoke and Sheffield. There are always exceptions but that is the general rule. Look at the racing ratings this year and the number of cars per meeting and you will see the trend.
  8. Beaks, I did preface my comments with a line about banter so maybe they were made slightly tongue in cheek....... Agree with a lot of your comments. The sport needs a couple of panto villains and fans will view different drivers as the villain in any situation. I am pleased we have Ryan coming back but I would never cheer him on. He is however a great driver and one who Ignites passion from fans either for or against. TH is very similar. From my perspective we are also doing less meetings this year, can't put my finger on why but certainly the closure of Brandon has left a lot of fans and drivers rather flat. A couple of on track grudges will no doubt increase my enthusiasm and as long as it's kept on track and doesn't spill over to the pits that's what we pay to see.
  9. That's all well and good, but we all know that a) stock car drivers have long memories and once he is at the front, he will have a metaphorical target on his back bumper...... Problem is I haven't seen TH84 at the front in a race this season so he should be pretty safe. Good banter, gentlemen, nice one! I think we all know that Tom's time will come this season - both in the respect that he WILL hit the front and WILL get despatched by FWJ! Perhaps we should keep a 'score' between now and the end of the season as regards how many times each can (effectively) end one another's race? That might be fun! All good banter and that's what spices thing sup for the fans. Can't beat a crowd where half are booing and half cheering. In terms of keeping a score, its not the number that counts its the timing of the revenge. TH can afford to get into a weekly wreckfest as he has someone who can bankroll the cost of the damage. FWJ operates on a shoestring and tries to keep his kids racing at the same time, so I don't think he will want a weekly bill, but you can be assured that come the time.......... Great for the fans as we don't know what will happen next. All good banter and that's what spices things up for the fans. Can't beat a crowd where half are booing and half cheering. 11. Thanks Gerry, Always enjoy the racing at Lynn. Got stung by a speed camera on the way down to the track a couple of years ago so take it easy now. Set of early and stop for a meal on the way. Now that Coventry has gone Lynn really is the highlight of the month.
  12. That's dedication George. Hope you and the family have a good run down.
  13. Formula 1 and Saloons. The perfect combination. Really looking forward to this meeting.
  14. I agree Peter, Hopefully with the British being a BSCDA event hopefully they can drum up a bit more suppport but if we get above 45 cars I would be suprised. Sheffield is a great stadium but a lot of drivers are very reluctant to race there due to possible damage.
  15. Agree with kingpin. Racing will start at 5.30 and you can bet your last fiver that it will still be going close to 11pm as it has done in many previous meetings. Two extra F1 races, fireworks and two support formula is just to much on a freezing cold night for many people. There are going to be a lot of people miss the last few races due to the length of time it will all take and the cold. We will be going and I am looking forward to it but with a three hour drive home it's going to be a very long night.
  16. 220 have posted in the last month. A few more stats, courtesy of the server logs (and because I like stats and data. ) Between September 2015 to September 2016 there were 14,583 posts by 679 people, there were 1,030 new threads started, and Stoxnet itself was viewed by an average of 11,000* unique visitors per day. * The actual number is probably a bit less than 11,000 because, for example, a non-member viewing from their office computer at work, then going home and viewing on their phone, would be counted as two separate visitors, as there's no way to tell that it's the same person. This isn't an issue for members that are logged in. Thanks for the 'facts' Carl.
  17. I'm sure that some people like UK mods but I haven't met one yet.... Your comment about only 20 people posting somewhat undermines your post.
  18. 37 cars and still a few local drivers not on the list. Hopefully we can make over 40 by Friday and have two heats and consolation. Running order would need to change but pleased Steve has the F2 GN on last so the presentation will be worth staying for.
  19. There have been some great meetings at belle Vue with mid thirties car counts. It's early in the week so we should get to 40 which makes two good heats consolation and what should be an explosive final and GN. Hope Mr Rees doesn't hold the F1 GN as the last race. It would be a shame to hold the shootout presentation to a nearly empty stadium. Can't wait !
  20. Good to see Murray Jones on the list. Long way from home. Really impressed me with his drive in the GN on Saturday.
  21. Thanks for that news Big D. Should be a cracking meeting now!
  22. Looking forward to this meeting but with a 4pm start why do we need three formula?. There should be a good turnout of F1 and 2s so would be a good meeting with the two formula and would allow travelling fans to get away in good time. Maybe that some won't bother if they think that the meeting is going to be a 9pm finish on a Sunday? The Sheffield formula has worked well this season.
