  1. Used to go to three counties supporters club meetings. Remember going to Curzon Ashton's old footy ground for a meeting and a number of drivers brought their cars. They lined up, pit style behind one of the goals and the social took place in the club house.
  2. My old man said I went to White Ciry in 1979 but I don't remember anything about it. Next one I went was Belle Vue in 87, atmosphere in the old wooden stands was something else but the race itself was a procession as king John ran away with it.

    Fixture list 2020

Reckon we can expect Easter Mon and the two May Bank Holidays at the Vue with August Bank Holiday at Sheffield.
  4. A brutal evening of stock car racing at Belle Vue. Every race in every formula was intense. Shame the F2 silver was decided by non uk tactics but well done to Luke Wrench, you could see how much it meant to his team and family in the bar after. Good also to see 127 & 24 up from Devon and 647 & 7 down from Scotland. Minis were dishing it out but the F1's really were the stars of the show. Every race was thrilling and the fence took an almighty battering. If it had not been there then I'm sure a few drivers would have ended up on the old Hyde Rd circuit or a Gorton back street. Tom dumped Frank on a parked car in the final which didn't go down well in some quarters but is something Messrs Falding and Lund did to each other regularly in the early 90's. Big credit to Tom on his dominant season. His craft both on track and car set up looks to have benefitted greatly from his USA experiences. As for a driver of the day, what a nightmare trying to pick one. So many drove like they'd stole it but for winning the consi and the final I'll give it Matt. His post race interview summed it up basically saying we are here to entertain and if the racing is like that then the fans will come out and watch. Finally well done to all involved, another season consigned to the history books. RR 10 DOD 16.

    Belle Vue Memory

Hyde Road, Belle Vue is where watching stox started for me. My Dad had taken my older brothers for a while before I was 'old enough' so age 6, off I went giddy with anticipation. I will be there on Sunday at Kirky Lane 42 yrs later. Hopefully it won't be the last time stox race in Manchester.
  6. Great to see over 40 F1's and nearly 50 F2's on the list at the moment. Drivers are doing there bit, let's enjoy it.
  7. A good afternoon of racing from both formula.Even then fence repairs seem to have speeded up. Well done to Startrax for re arranging. DOD 275 RR 8
  8. Totally agree that shale tracks are the issue and of course we need to cherish what we have. Startrax have had 11 F1 dates this season. If Belle Vue joins Stoke in the defunct category that leaves them with Sheffield. Take 2 dates out for World and Scotland leaves possibly 9 meetings at Sheff. If this is the case then a major revamp of the fixture list needs to take place. If you take this seasons Startrax dates, they had 5 in the first 8 weeks or so. Whilst I like Sheff, this would be a bid ask for anyone. There isnt an abundance of regular tarmac tracks either, Skeggy, Brum and a few Buxton, others 1? Meeting each. No ones mentioned field racing surprisingly From this thread, there appears to be more tarmac options that could be utilised. Buxton and Hednesford are under used. Once a year / bi annual include Ipswich, Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath. It would be nice to see Bristol and Aldershot added to the occasional list. Swaffham whilst in a track heavy area is also a possibility, F1's were decent last time I saw them there. As for field racing, Hunmanby has been mentioned earlier. Has anyone from Brisca/Bscda seriously considered field racing for UK. It is clearly thriving in Holland and tracks that were as basic as could be a number of years ago have developed into decent venues.

  10. So Bristol could come back in. If GB has applied for a date in 2020 then a suitable date should be found. This appears to be a case of the current Brisca promoters not wanting to give up dates. It also appears a return to Scunthorpe could happen with the will of those involved. Clearly a political hot potato but not insurmountable. Mention is made of non Orci tracks on the periphary of the current area. Do we know where these are and what can be done to facilitate F1?
  11. So far then we have, Taunton and I'll add St Day, both probably too small and Autospeed not exactly lovers of F1. Bristol--held F1 fairly recently, can cope with the cars, only really going to be occasional if the promotion fancy it. Ringwood - certainly capable of staging F1 but again only an occasional tarmac track if the Orci issue can be bridged. Scunthorpe - recently held F1 even though its virtually a circle for them. With the lack of shale venues Brisca need to get a foot in the door again. Could someone else hold an Orci licence for the track to run alongside the local promotion. Something similar took place at St Columb prior to closure where Autospeed ran it as Retallack Park and the locals ran it as Westworld Raceway. Any more possibilities.
  12. The Coventry thread discusses a large number of UK Ovals not running Brisca F1. Where are they? Why don't they run F1? Are they capable of doing so? What would make them capable?. If only a couple of those could be developed to run F1 then it would be positive.
  13. Great to see young Keir's memory continues to inspire young drivers

    2021 World Final

Go for Buxton, just think of the size of grandstand you could get in that field behind the back straight!

    Odsal Stadium

The subject has appeared because of the bulls moving out and Frankie Wainman senior talking about the possibility of a return for stox in an interview with the local media. I suppose you could say its topical.
