  1. Ht1 .. Can't believe how near each other we were, lol..

    Semi-Final next..

    Was 212 really 9th in Heat 1 ? I would question that -

He was lapped, then went out again a few laps later (though others could have done likewise)

He was a good lap and a half down by the time the flag dropped

Only judging from the video, so i could be wrong

Also i couldn't make out who was being black flagged - so doubtless the driver didn't have a clue either !

    Thanks again for posting

  2. 217 lap handicap ?

Good results from the lap handicap have to be reviewed with caution

Yellow flags during the race, effectively take away the handicap, as the final winner then tags onto the procession

Often, lots of incidents have taken out much of the opposition. Having that open track at the start, means you dont have traffic to deal with

It happened for Matt last week (he got 5th) and for Lee last night

But, Lee's drive was outstanding in the GN

Wonder how many more laps he would have needed to take the win ..........................

  3.

I was home 2 hours earlier than previous meeting, partly due to no stupid roadworks on M1

Slight niggle from me. I know everyone is overjoyed at what happened after the restarts (which unfairly disadvantage drivers that have worked hard for a good lead) but .......

The fire under No 44 was going on for around 2 laps or more and no yellows

When the yellows came out, No 44 was on the infield no fire no need for yellows

But drama was created so that makes it ok ?

sometimes the reason for the caution clears itself just as the flags start waving. How many times has a track cleared itself of cars at exact moment that the yellow comes on. Its nothing to do with creating drama as as a previous race marshall I feel offended that you think it was done deliberately just to close the cars up.

I didn't say it was done deliberately.

My point is that the race should have been put under caution much sooner. I was watching it chucking out flames for what seemed like forever, and no-one seemed bothered.

When i saw the yellows i looked around to see why, and could see nothing. No 44 was in the middle of the track

It's a very minor niggle, not a full blown moan !

The race could well have been very tame without those yellows

  5. Could someone give me some advice thinking about bringing my 60 year old dad to Coventry for first time in about 20 odd years we normally only do belle vue as we can sit inside in the warmth, as he not brilliant in his feet, or Stoke as local track if it warm with chairs, is there anywhere good we could sit at Coventry either inside or would we need bring chairs as only convinced him come as big list of cars nice weather & maybe last chance we get go there any help would be great cheers

There's the Grandstand bar which has seats along the windowed front. But that will be first come first sat i expect. Last time i was in there, there was another row one level up from that

    You may be lucky

Alternatively you could reserve a restaurant table which is alongside the bar, but that will cost of course

You can see the restaurant area in this link , 3rd pic, 2nd row

3 course meal including tea / coffee £15

By the way, M69 is usually a doddle

  6. To those who do results, my intention was just to highlight the issue to those that run the site so that they could put the information in the right thread. Knowing it would be deleted and the Sunday thread created.

Forgive me if any offence was caused, that was not my intention.

And thanks to those sending, copying, posting etc.

I had PM'd Nic as soon as i saw results in the wrong thread, to be helpful . Then i saw your post Chunder , also, as being helpful. Someone else begged to differ

As said, it was hardly the crime of the century. I echoed the comment you made and wasn't offended at all

  7. OH and some has asked what the double header is all about not going get ans, out of Coventry its not allowed ? lol

Ha Ha yes. I think you've picked all the meat off that bone. Maybe time to bury it

The Friday 5th june meeting at Cov is being promoted by someone else if i got that right

    Then back to usual Saturday

    I just don't get it

The drivers who do well Friday, will probably do the same Saturday. It will be like Groundhog day (like this thread) and Saturday's meeting

    will be practically a re-run of Friday's

    ........................in my humble opinion

I shan't be going as i can't do both, so won't do either

  8. Going back to the so called good old days, at the old Belle Vue you had no idea who was booked in there until the cars came onto the track, not being allowed in the pits you just had to wait and see. Never really a problem......

Unless one opened the old wallet for a programme of course !!

I always knew who was in what heat at the old Vue

I'm baffled by this obsession with a list. I assume those desperate for it want to know if their hero is gonna be there

Can't that hero be followed on Twitbook maybe ?

  9. Richard M lists a whole heap of good reasons to be thankful of Coventry - apart from it's location. It isn't that great for those East of the M1

It's the one and only track (imo) that you can take newcomers , and be sure that they will be impressed , particularly by it's professionalism,

even if the newcomers come away not liking the racing. Walking around the pits is great here to

Haven't been to KL yet, but will be judging that in September

As said, the Final & GN are usually crackers. I've often thought heats have been spoiled by over-watering in the past, but that's just my humble opinion

I think Coventry is also the only remaining track that gives us the good old fashioned 3 heats, Cons, Final & GN

It's quite simply , for me, head & shoulders above the rest

  10. Anyone know what the admission prices are for Coventry please ? Think it was 3 and 6 last time i went !

    (3sh 6d)

Even back in 2004 you paid extra to go in the main Grandstand. Is that still the case ?

Very naughty of the prices not to be on the website
