A sudden 13.4% hike in the admission is too much, JH has obviously not heard of the credit crunch! Some of us will get 2% pay rises or less over the next 3 yrs!
Compare it to any concert or football match if you want, but if people are daft enough to pay that that's their choice. The facilities at Cov- our best venue- do not come anywhere close to these. There are better facilities at thirddivision grounds and they don't charge anything like £17 to get in.
Stock car supporters like to support their sport once or twice every week, football £45 a match many only go once every 2 weeks/ once a month.
Looks like there will be a lot of empty spaces on the terraces next year then.
If Cov insist on these prices the venue wont be there in 3 years time.
£2 for 5 years beats any credit crunch our costs for power alone have gone up well in excess of the 13.4% you have quoted and that is for 3 years only. We are all suffering under the credit crunch, increased fuel costs, wage demands, higher rates, 25% increase in insurance etc etc etc.
We have one source of income and we try to be fair in the way we make any increase which is why the last increase was pegged for 3 years and this one is pegged for 2 years. I wish all our suppliers would do the same.

Keeping the prices fixed for 3 years has not been a laugh and I doubt keeping the £2 rise for the next two years will be either.

The last coventry meeting programme advertises the admission as £17 for this one.
Maybe you could confirm this, as there may be a few people annoyed at the hike in admission who get there on the day.
We announced at the last meeting that the prices had to rise to £17 adults £12 for OAP/Students and £5 for Kids. The meeting will start just after 6pm and finish before the 11pm curfew. It is likely that the prices for November meeting will become our prices for the next two years and the rise the first for three years is not surprising given the step rises to our operating costs which we have absorbed during that time.

After last months fantastic display at the British Final it is hard to imagine how we could end the season on a better note but we will be attempting to do so with a very full night of racing.
We have the V8 Hot Stox British Final, The National Mini Stox Winter Championship, The BSCDA Ben Fund Race, Ray Tyldesley Memorial Final, a huge firework display and our Track Championship Final. We will start racing at 6pm for the minis/v8's with the F1's starting at the normal 7pm start to ensure we give each race the time that is required and still finish before curfew.

The F1 British Championship comes back to its spiritual home Coventry Stadium on 4th October 2008 with the National Mini Stox British Championship in support.
This will be the first time we have run the event since 2002 which was regarded as the best ever final by many commentators in the sport which makes it a hard act to follow. To emulate that great final we will be running to the same format of 5 heats and a final with all drivers racing twice with bookings limited to the top 60 drivers on the grading list who are available to race. We have also added an all comers race to end the night to ensure the British Champion will receive his trophy in front of a huge crowd making it 7 races of full on top quality F1 racing. Expect a more traditional presentation with the National Anthem, laurels and a quality build up to the big race.
Reward the countries top drivers by attending what will be the biggest Coventry of the year.

Coventry sees its second speed week end this Saturday with the F1's and the Rebels WF on the Saturday and Street Bangers, 2Ltr Bangers, V8's and Rebels on the Sunday daytime.

Looks like it will be a full on meeting with real problems in keeping to the 36 car limit for the Cons and GN. Expect to see one or more red/superstars to be locked out but it was what they wanted so we should get NO complaints. On the other hand they will work a lot harder to get qualified which could make the heats better to watch and then it will be first come first served for the GN.

It is with deep regret that Coventry Stadium & Startline Television have had to suspend the filming of Brisca F1 for Ch5 at this coming Saturday’s meeting due to funding difficulties.
We have both been extremely pleased with the quality of footage, Ch5 presentation and response from viewers over the broadcasting of the first two programs. This has made the decision to suspend filming even harder to take and we hope to reverse it in the near future.
We had several potential sponsors who wanted to see the reaction from the first broadcast before committing to fully fund the filming however these evaporated due to the changing dates & times for the first broadcast. This was beyond all the parties control including Ch5 who had contractual difficulties with other suppliers.
We continued with the second filming in the belief that we could secure new funding but time was against us. The sponsorship packages are extremely reasonable for national TV and we clearly have a very good product when 200,000 viewers watched the first program. We hope to move forward with Ch5 again in the near future once we have secured the required funding.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ch5, the drivers, the production crew and of course the fans that have shown us a great deal of support for what we have done so far.

Bah! was looking forward to a 2 heat & Consi F2 meeting, Any ideas why that BRILLIANT idea was shelved? A format that would of brought the BEST out of the F2's and with cameras there as well. Two 30 odd car heats would of been mint.
The format is
3 heats of 28 cars with 12 from each to the Final
1 Cons of 48 cars with 6 to the final
1 Final of 42 cars
1 GN limited to 48 cars
So you have 3 races with over 40 cars in which should be enough to blow your socks off if you only wanted 30 in a race.

Mike Bushel from the BBC will be mixing it on track with FWJ, Andy Smith, and Murray Harrison amongst others in the first race of the night. It will be broadcast on the 12th May nationally on BBC breakfast to 4 million viewers lets just hope he wins! Please show your support as he has never driven a stock car before and is already nervous of what may happen. He will be given some race tuition from several World Champions during the day to ensure he is up for it come 6.45pm.
