What I was trying to get across is that, in answer to Kingpin's desire  to see more drivers cross over,there will always be tarmac only racers as well as shale only too.Even if the cars were the same the choice would still exist.

Nowhere did I say I wanted to see the loss of shale tracks...some people are jumping to conclusions...I posted as a conversation point.


But based on my long ago racing efforts....racing on shale was difficult to get the hang of (I never did!) without the umpteen years of car setup experience to fall back on...it was expensive(even then),a lot of repair work and my landlord never forgave me for clogging up the drains....the good drivers made it look so easy,just don't fall into the trap of thinking it is!

Reduce overall costs?..thats easy,just bin the shale tracks...reading nigel's posts that seems to be where all the damage and engine wear is accumulated..often through no fault of your own .

Maybe there are tarmac racers that don't want to race in a mudpit with a ploughed field for a pits either,racers that want a chance to practise and set the cars up without being fired into the slop and or fence before they have a chance to get going.

Seriously though ,what with all the issue's with shale tracks,track prep,costs and dust is there really a future for it?

Let me get this right..A front axle width limit was requested,researched and voted on(83.5)..ok so far....then a rear axle limit was requested ,not researched but still voted in, a figure not yet arrived at but based,I believe, on rear axle averages......so more than one driver may have to rework axles (the Thornton cars spring to mind too)..so what is wrong with having rear axle track width the same as the front..surely you are not making the cars any wider than they already are(built to the existing overall vehicle width figure)?....or am I missing something?


Mr Green is probably a bit miffed that not only his car ,built to the existing rules, has been voted to be too fast, but that also when this sort of thing has happened in the past there has almost always been a runout period....instead his car ,and a few more besides , is being deemed instantly illegal.


If he needs some advice on being persecuted maybe Nigel could give Chris Elwell a ring...

It doesn't matter how many extinguishers you have ...if the marshall standing next to a car with leaking fuel and a trapped driver doesn't have one it all counts for nothing...
