  7. LAST MINUTE NEWS: SOLD OUT All 350 tickets are spoken for. Unfortunately, if you've not got a ticket already we don't have room... RAY LIDDY Ray informed me yesterday that he can’t make it on Saturday. Clearly this threw a rather large spanner in the works, as the entire night had been planned around his film show. Programmes had gone to print (they look great – everyone gets one and one or two other mementos!), and it was too late to change them. Arrangements had been made for space for the film show in the hall. After a few frantic phone calls to some great people, I have secured plenty of rare footage of Aycliffe to show on the big screen throughout the night – including some very special cinefilm from the 60s and 70s. Rather than alternating this with the disco, I am now planning on the both the films and the disco running at the same time throughout the evening. It has been noted that ‘it’s all gone a bit Aycliffe’, and that we should feel more at home with a slightly more chaotic arrangement. If only we can persuade Mr Geldard to don his gold hard hat and run around telling everyone off, it will be just like the old days! I can understand that people may be disappointed that Ray Liddy will not be there – I certainly am – but I hope that what we have lined up will more than make up for it. DOORS OPEN Due to the sheer amount of tickets sold (we’ve sold out at around 350!), we have decided to open the doors slightly earlier at 6.30pm to try to avoid people queuing for too long. At this point I’m not sure if the bars will be open for 6.30, but they will definitely be open for 7 at the latest. I would suggest arriving as early as possible. As you come into the main hall, please ensure you pick up your programme and memento. You should also make sure you sign the big pink poster – this will be auctioned off at a later date on eBay for the Veteran’s Association. There will also be a space to write the names of those people you associated with Aycliffe but are no longer with us – John Rigg will be leading a toast to ‘Absent Friends’ after the buffet. MERCHANDISE STALLS As previously announced, Derek Smith will be in attendance with his old programme and magazine stall. Also available on Derek’s stall will be some polo shirts which have been especially commissioned for the night, some photo posters and some DVDs of the old 1980s Screensport footage of Aycliffe. The polo shirts are available in various sizes, but are very limited in what is available on the night. Should anyone want one, and their size has run out, I will place the order forms on Derek’s stall – I will be making one further order on December 1st so that they can be received well in time for Christmas. All proceeds from the shirts, posters and DVDs will be going to... Well... You’ll have to wait until the night to find out just what we have planned for next year! In addition to Derek’s stall it is a pleasure to be able to host the Veteran’s Stock Car Association stall – all proceeds from this stall go to the Vets. I’m sure Paul will have information on how to join the association too.
  8. With just over a week left to get tickets, and orders coming in quickly - over 60 tickets have been sold since the weekend - we now have almost 250 sold in total. This gives us around 100 tickets left, and when they are gone, that's it. I never thought I'd be saying this, but we could be looking at a sell out!
  9. Less than one month to go to the big night... If you need tickets, you have until 14th November (one week before the reunion) Details on... NEVER ENOUGH STOX and now on THAT NEW FANGLED FACEBOOK THINGY
  10. Carl's finally making the switch to National Hot Rods then?
  11. The latest newsletter (and last before the night) has just been emailed out. If anyone hasn't got it, please get in touch.
  12. With the big night rapidly approaching, there is now some important ticket info and the programme for the night on NES - CLICK HERE
  13. Got to say a massive well done to Kings Lynn on their website in the run up to the weekend. After attending five meetings in two weeks, the semi was off my list. However, with the news coming thick and fast from KL, I've been caught up in all the hype and it's more than likely that I'll be attending. This is exactly how promoters should be using the internet
  14. Tickets are now on sale. Please drop me a line for info.
  15. Great pic... Love the Ernie Dent car - almost as much as I love the Earl Testo car! The legendary Whip Chicken Farm would be great to see... Maybe we should get Tony Robinson and his croneys down there for a bit of a Time Team special - 'Oooo- Arrrrr... Mick, I think this might just be a genuine piece of Wojtowicz bumper...'
  16. No need to apologise Colin Always good to see the old tracks - it's becoming a bit of an obsession for me... Loving the old pics too - who bought you the rose tinted specs? Oh - and another vote for continued listings of your listening habits!
  17. ^^^Sold to that man up there^^^
  18. Thanks for the comments Martin And thanks to all who have put in pre-orders. The shirts should be ready at the start of next week. I've made some slight colour adjustments from the originals, but nothing too drastic. The three available t-shirts will be joined by designs for #53 and #2 (plus F2 #152, #7 and #886) which I'll keep under wraps until they are ready. One thing I've miscalculated is just how heavy t-shirts are (I've got to pay postage twice - from the suppliers and to you), so I'm having to put up the price of the shirts to £14 + £2 per order (£1 extra for xxl). Anyone who has pre-ordered so far will pay the original price of £13, but any new orders will be a quid extra. There really isn't much of a margin in this at all, but any proceeds will be ploughed back into the sport one way or another. I'm also hoping to confirm some great looking Team 141 t-shirts over the next few days (different style to the rest and with a back print), and they might be available at the same time. If anyone's interested, the prototype SSJ t-shirt is still available at just £10 - size XL. Just drop me a line
  19. Cheers Waz (or do we have to use your Sunday name these days? ) At the moment I can go up to XXL, and they cost an extra £1 for some bizarre reason! I'm sure there's not an extra quid's worth of material in there! The actual size of the XXL is listed as 50 - 52 inches. I am currently looking at a possible deal with another supplier who may be able to offer the shirts bigger and cheaper (don't hold your breath though!)... As for variations - I have a few other driver designs ready to go if these go down well. I could do a back print, but I'm trying to keep the cost down to a minimum at the moment.
  20. Thanks Al. Just to update... We have indeed moved to Aycliffe Leisure Centre, and we've had to now move to a bigger room within that building to accomodate everyone. We now have around 210 confirmed Still plenty of room for more too! Amongst those confirmed is Tony Neal - 1968 F1 World Champ and Aycliffe legend - who is attending while on a rare holiday to the UK from New Zealand. I will be announcing ticket prices and the plan for the night in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye on the NES Forum for the news as it's announced.
  21. 515 test t-shirt gone... EDIT: 391 now gone too...
  22. I've just put in an order for the following t-shirts to be printed. All images have been taken from my own photos. I've ordered one of each to check how they come out. As I don't know how they'll look yet (might need some tweaking on the colours), I'm going to sell these first three (all XL) at just £10 each including P&P. So, if you want one of these test shirts drop me a line letting me know which one, and I'll arrange it when they arrive (next week). First come first served! If you want to put in a pre order for the actual t-shirts which I'll be selling from early July, also drop me a line so I have some idea of how many and what sizes to order. They will sell for £13 + £2 p&p per order (not per t-shirt). There's no obligation to buy if you put a pre-order in (and it won't cost you anything at this stage), it'll just give me an idea of the potential demand. 391... 515... 390 / 1... And a design in a bit more detail...
