  5. PLEASE NOTE THIS MEETING NOW STARTS AT 4:30PM RATHER THAN 5PM!

Welcome to Skegness Raceway for our last meeting of the year. The BriSCA F1 Gala Night, promoted by BriSCA F1

Featuring BriSCA F1, BriSCA V8 Hotstox and National Ministox. Also BTCC drivers take part in a BriSCA F1 Stock Car Race.

Welcome everybody to BriSCA Gala Night 2023.  As well as some excellent racing on offer this evening, this is also the ‘end of term party’ and the annual shop window for BriSCA stock car racing.  Because of this, some of the usual rules and regulations are waived for the night and in particular we will see more than one driver using the same car during the course of the evening.

One of the special features of the race programme tonight is the under 25 drivers’ Championship race for the BriSCA F1 Stock Cars.  The event always generates a lot of interest with young drivers from other stock car formulas being a common and popular feature of the race and lots of borrowed cars featuring.  To some extents, the race has almost become a victim of its own success with the entry having reached capacity on some occasions.  Hopefully there isn’t the need to restrict bookings and turn drivers away this time.  Whilst it is important that the regular young drivers of BriSCA F1 can take part in their big race, the guest drivers are very much part of the character of the event and no doubt help to draw additional spectators through the turnstiles.  The sport needs all of them.

Making a welcome return to Gala Night this year are the drivers of the British Touring Car Championship who will be taking part in a BriSCA F1 Stock Car race.  The event was first staged last year although the partnership of Touring Cars and short-oval motorsport has been going on for much longer.  Many drivers in BTCC over the years have started their racing careers on the ovals and this has previously given rise to BTCC involvement in National Hot Rod racing in particular.  The best bit about the BTCC race at the 2022 gala night was not only the enthusiasm and genuine respect that the drivers brought to the event.  The race itself was actually a really good stock car race!  There was plenty of bumper in evidence and most of the participants were making excellent pace.  This year, the event has the potential to be even better.

From BTCC we have Paul O’Neill, Josh Cook, Aiden Moffat, Jade Edwards, Ricky Collard, Dan Lloyd, Adam Morgan, Dan Welsh, Dan Rowbottom, Dexter Patterson, Bobby Thompson and Ryan Bendley.

BriSCA F2 has often been part of this fixture with a separate Gala Night Championship having run in some seasons.  However, the V8 Hotstox take their place tonight which more accurately reflects the formulas over which BSCDA jurisdiction spans.  2023 can be viewed as a landmark year for the Hotstox with turnouts at meetings having surged in the middle of the season and the points title was uncertain to the very end of the fixture list.  Congratulations to 201 Evan Bullock on his victory in the silver roof chase and also to Thomas Brighton who gave him such strong competition and of course became the youngest winner of the World Championship a couple of months ago.

Completing the night are the National MiniStox Club and no doubt there will be loads of the youngsters flocking here to race tonight.  We are never short of Minis for a Skegness fixture!  Rarely for a mid-November date, the Minis in fact have a tarmac weekend as they also have a fixture at Hednesford tomorrow and no doubt a significant proportion of the drivers will be travelling to race at both fixtures.

  12. Please share – tonight is postponed to Sunday.

Following a big overnight change in the weather forecast, Trackstar are reluctantly having to postpone today’s meeting featuring F1 Stock Cars, 2L Stock Cars and V8 Stock Cars to tomorrow (Sunday 22 October) at 1pm.

Storm Barbet has been battering the country over the past 24 hours. King’s Lynn had 24 hours of rain. However the forecast was for a clear day today and there would have been no problem getting the track ready.

The forecast has changed overnight to more rain throughout the day and at 8am the stadium had already suffered from a heavy shower.

Several important “A” roads which were hoped to have reopened also remain closed.

With a clear day forecast around the country tomorrow, the track team are confident about producing a decent racing surface and it is hoped travelling conditions will also be much better.

Our thanks go to Autospeed and the BSCDA with their assistance in moving this fixture.

Advance tickets will automatically be transferred to the rearranged meeting. Anyone with an advance ticket and is unable to make the rescheduled event should E Mail gr@norfolkarena.co.uk and this will be refunded.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience, thank you for the support.
