  1. Bit pointless, don't you think Premier?? - leaving comments about a fixture list which has been withdrawn for amendment by the Promoter. Let's wait for a revised list, and then comment accordingly. By the way, we don't do 'subjects not for discussion' - the originator of the thread asked for it to be removed. Fair enough, as far as we are concerned.

Pointless, I dunno, I thought it was not unreasonable to discuss the merits of Cov running an F1 meeting on the same day as another venue.

I fail to understand why that could be a problem, maybe its pointless but by these criteria many threads could be regards in the same way.

As the dates are still in the public domain one is left to consider that the deletion was more to do with burying a squabble over dates between promoters.

  2. Would it not have been possible to remove any fixtures which were in doubt and leave the rest of the origional thread in place, or is this another subject not for discussion.

I am just a bit confused as there is still a link to the fixtures on the front page.

  3. I do not think it unreasonable for Coventry to charge a premium over other tracks.

It has better facilities than most and those facilities bring higher maintenance costs.

It books lots of cars which is also expensive.

It also is paying lots of cash on its track ch,ship, more I think than any other venue.

  4. Cheshire M6 overnight closure

HIGHWAYS AGENCY News Release (NWNOPS 03/0808) issued by The Government News Network on 22 August 2008

The M6 in Cheshire will be closed in both directions for one night next month to remove a damaged bridge.

The Hollowood Farm footbridge over the M6 between Knutsford and Lymm was struck by a lorry in July and now has to be removed from the area.

The bridge is about one mile north of junction 19 and the motorway will need to be shut overnight from 10pm on Saturday, September 6, to carry out the work. Highways Agency contractors say the closure could last until 9am on Sunday, September 7, but the work could be completed earlier.

Northbound M6 traffic will leave at junction 19 and follow the A556 joining the M56 at junction 8 and travelling west to rejoin the M6 at junction 20.

Southbound M6 traffic will leave the M6 at junction 20 and join the M56 eastbound leaving at junction 7 and following the A556 south to rejoin the M6 at junction 19.

The diversion route for traffic on the M56 eastbound wanting to join the M6 south will be to continue on the M56 to junction 7 and then take the A556 south and join the M6 at junction 19 instead.

The work will be signed in advance to warn drivers. Diversions will be signed on the night.

  6. Just a thought but what about consolation no1 being for the first 30 cars on track and consolation no2 open to all those still not qualified. This would ensure good car numbers in all races .

Big grids yes, but giving drivers 3 goes to qualify takes the pressure off, 8 qualifiers from each heat would leave potential 50 runners for 2 cons, take another 8 from each. If a 32 car final cannot produce the required entertainment then havin 36 is not going to make much difference.

Anyway Blue Peter badge for COV/JH for trying to do something to improve the action.

  7. Mike Bushel from the BBC will be mixing it on track with FWJ, Andy Smith, and Murray Harrison amongst others in the first race of the night. It will be broadcast on the 12th May nationally on BBC breakfast to 4 million viewers lets just hope he wins! Please show your support as he has never driven a stock car before and is already nervous of what may happen. He will be given some race tuition from several World Champions during the day to ensure he is up for it come 6.45pm.

    More TV announcements to follow.

    Is FWJ a confirmed entry??

  8. Nelson Mandela was considered but we couldn't get insurance for him, youg Lewis couldn't find a `window' in his diary - Elvis, Lord Lucan wanted too much appearance money - hadn't thought about Deane - maybe a consideration!

However, we are in contractual talks with someone called Blair who might have some spare time after May this year!

Mr Wood at BV in sept well thanks for that, hope you can get a car that matches his reputation!!

Tony Blair, pls no the meeting will go on and on and on.....................

As for Elvis are you sure its an issue over money, he is a regular in the Stock rods at Taunton and Crispen just pays him in burgers.
