  1. Great stuff.

The Scottish driver was in the 175 car, the shale car of Pete Hall.

This was Eric Brown's first go an F1 using his F2 number. We had raced at Newtongrange the night before and arrived just in time to stick the numbers on the car before going out for his first heat, no practice......shale tyres and stagger etc

Probably should have picked a different number as many thought it was the usual fella in the 175........

    Thank you 👍

Yes, it may be dull, as you put it. But Dave Goddard does his job as commentator (rather than checking texts), you can follow the race and also you get a proper results service. Thereby making it more realistic.

We are enjoying both the eF1s and eF2s with all the work going on to put this FREE entertainment together in these strange and difficult times, but as usual a few Stoxnetters seem to be doing what they do best......

The entertainment value of Windows and ECL is good as in-between race fillers, but someone actually watching and commenting on the races is better as a racing experience. Combine both approaches and get Duncana to do the race commentary allowing ECL more time to read his phone........

The single camera shot with zoom in out as highlighted above would certainly be worth trying for this weekend.

HUGE thanks to all the guys putting these shows together, the suppliers of the equipment to stage the racing and to the drivers putting their reputations on the line!

This stuff is very different to the real thing!

Slightly O/T (forgive me) on what platform does uk dirt operate*? is it via a gaming console or PC*? looks very good; somehow it's passed me by. maybe `cos I have more time on my hands of late for some reason...………..?

I took a look on the website, but the answers to my questions are not obvious (to me anyhow)

any info, what controllers are used (I can't drive with a key pad!) , how easy it is to set up etc appreciated

    *thanks in anticipation

All formulas (except Bangers) run on the PC version of rFactor. Bangers use Wreckfest as the base game.

You need a reasonably good PC (and ideally a steering wheel) with a decent broadband connection.

You need to buy your own licensed copy of rFactor, but all the UK mods (formulas) and tracks are free to download from the ukdirt website.

You only need to register on the ukdirt forum and Discord channel if you want to race online in the leagues. If you want to race offline against the AI cars, you only need a licenced copy of rFactor, then simply download what you fancy trying off the ukdirt website.

There is normally an annual membership fee to cover the cost of the dedicated servers for the online leagues, but we have been providing it free for the last couple of years.

    Cheers

  4. Really sad news. We didn't know Mick well but I think I chatted to him at virtually every F1 meeting we have ever attended and will miss that.

RIP Mick and sincere condolences to family and friends.

  5. Gotta go for Frankie , pretty consistent all decade , won most of the points championships (not the shootout )with 6 or 7 ?(sorry , the all season points chart !) A WF win , a couple of euro titles , same for the British ,a venray gold , at least one 240 win (bad memory ,its my age )I would wager hes the top final winner of the decade too (Carl ?) And then finally building a shale car to match the competition.

    So its 515 for me

Sums it up nicely, superb even

  7. Looking forward to next weekend which will be our 3rd speed weekend in a row up here.

We have only managed 6 F1 meetings so far this season, including a Kings Lynn (followed by Taunton the next day for Saloons and F2s..........)

The weather has been great up here for the last few weeks, but unfortunately I think it is set to change to our normal summer next week, lets hope not, although rain does help with the problem highlighted here .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHv7ixhN46A

  8. All the charm that we have come to expect. Foot in mouth springs to mind.

I am not a member of fb so seldom hear about anything posted there. From what I have heard it's not something I wish to get involved in as it does seem to get very personal.

Stoxnet has a huge readership. The majority don't post but they do read and it's not a closed site.

All season we have had an excellent meeting review thread which has been very informative and provides all the details we need to know. It's a shame you have not bothered to use this free advertising to promote your meeting in good time, and only when someone remarks do you begrudgingly post a sarcastic comment.

Do you ever wonder why the Coventry on tour isn't getting the support you would have liked from both fans and drivers......?

If you can't be bothered many fans won't be bothered. Coventry attracted a lot of regular fans who would come no matter what was served up, but it's gone. If you want to attract fans to your meetings don't take them for granted.

Couldn't have said it any better Linky.

We were/are looking forward to our 500 mile round trip to our "local" F1 track, but the post from Jeremy did make us ask ourselves if we would bother.

We will go to the Racewall on Saturday night and hopefully still make the trip as "taken for granted F1 supporters" who do not have Facebook but both read Stoxnet regularly.

Carl has been doing a great job this year of putting any promotional material he can find about upcoming meetings to make sure it has as much publicity as possible.

It's a shame the Promoter of this weekend's meeting can't be bothered to do likewise, other than post something that potentially alienates even die-hard fans!

  9. Can't wait for this only 2nd meeting of season for me & taking my dad along who can only remember the old belle vue suppose those bookings will depend on damage from kings lynn as well but was wondering how much discount there is if book tickets in advance cuz doesn't give that information & also is there any discount for OAP at all ?

Should be a good meeting, don't need loads of cars at BV.

Information from Startrax site, "Concessions are £16 and An added bonus – IF you book in advance we offer a £2 per adult saving to ‘on the day prices’ but applications MUST be received by no later than 5.pm Thursday prior to the event."

  10. A message to Steve from Mrs Counter, we really enjoyed BV, even with a 7 hour round trip.

We did Cowdie on Saturday night which we also enjoyed despite the drop in numbers in F2s and Saloons, but BV was probably a better a meeting, despite the travelling.

I think it is a real shame that a Promoter feels the need to rationalise and/or defend decisions that have to be made to put on the spectacle that we all say we enjoy. Guessing whether it is going to rain or not in Manchester is not an easy guess for anyone for a daytime shale meeting.

Roll on the next F1 shale meeting.
