OsO, I plan on racing at brum, npton ,buxton, and stoke this year. Maybe travel further afield next year. I use a ZF box because I found three very cheaply and cant afford a doug nash type box. cheers ian.

    New car

I have to say thank you to all the people who have commented on my car, both personally, and on various media sites. to be honest, I,m blown away with the reaction its caused. Just gotta learn to drive it now!!! To answer one chaps question. ,I,ve tried to build enough adjustability into the car to run on both surfaces. Also there will be a bit more colour on it as I,ve picked up a bit of sponsorship, and the reason I didn't do the GN is that the pinion bearing collapsed. Cheers. Ian.

    New cars

Ran my new car at Mendip hills on Saturday for the first time. Glad to say that nowt fell off or broke.I took it steady for the first couple of sessions with no real dramas. Had to adjust the brake pedal a bit to give a little more feel, but apart from that all was good. Gradually built up the pace after a wet start to the day finishing fast and in the fence. No damage, but a reminder how much that hurts!! Adam Bamford drove it for the last session so I could see it go round and for him to offer a second opinion. He recons.it was ok, so that's encouraging. Gonna spend the next month now finishing it off ready for Hednesfofd. Cheers.Ian Bond.
  6. What a difference five minutes makes..... I,ve gone from chuffed to bits coz me cars nearly ready to truly despondent. I AM one of those budget racers whose taken five years to build a car and an engine[twice!!] I have a 396 Big Block which cost me 4k to build, standard single point distributor. I doubt it would reach 6200rpm. Gutted.

    New car

Stripped my engine today. Damaged the crank very badly not sure if its fixable yet. Two rods knackered so need to replace them. Not easy this racing game. One step forward, Two steps back. Followed closely by a swift kick in the jewels!!!! My good mate Mr Bamford seems very optimistic so gonna just crack on. At least the car passed. cheers Ian Bond.
  9. I need a crankshaft to suit a 396/427 BBC. Preferably a forged steel one but cast would do. Standard grind on both mains and big ends but no more than 10 thou under on either. please PM or post. cheers, Ian Bond.

    New car

Following nearly four years of trials and tribulations Conrad has made the trip down to somerset (thanks again for that chap) and has passed my new car fit to race. ( almost!! ) I have a couple of small issues to address but esentially the car conforms to the rule book. To say i,m relieved is an understatement !!! Next job is to have the engine out and find out why i have copper deposits in the filter following a stint on a rolling road to bed the engine in. All being well i should be out this year. If i ever suss out the posting of pictures on this darned computer thingy i will do. Cheers, Ian Bond.
  11. I need a van to tow my car. I'm thinking Iveco 35. possibly twin rear axle sprinter. it needs to be able to tow at least 2.5T. hi top med wheel base. if anyone can help or could recommend a vans sales company that,ll be great. PM or post. cheers, Ian Bond.
  12. I need some advice from a Ford mechanic to help solve a problem with my Transit. Please give me a ring on 07795480440. thanks. Ian.
  13. If anyone is interested i'll be making a batch of 14" banded wheel rims soon. With centres they'll be £75. They'll be "no frills" rims. They wont be sand blasted or plated and will come in any colour you want as long as its grey primer. Text me and i'll send a piccy or two. cheers, Ian Bond. 07795 480440.

    hans device.

Thanks to everyone who offered their advice and opinions. What a minefield !!! Based on that and my own research i decieded on the Leatt mrx pro. It offers protection for both fwd and sideways impact. Both of which our sport definatly provides !!!! I,m not plugging here, but a well known scottish m/sport supplier was very helpful. Ask for Lee.
