  1. Just a quick heads up that it's the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday too. Shouldn't cause a problem in terms of road closures unless you're coming into Sheffield from the Peak District, although traffic might be a bit busier for anybody coming from the south and getting off at J33.

It's not the same race as the one which runs right in front of Owlerton and caused a meeting to be put back a few years ago.

A map of the route and road closures is at http://www.runforall.com/half-marathon/yorkshire/

  2. Only saw the F1 races so can't comment on the support acts. But the F1s were, on the whole, pretty decent. The highlight for me was watching Rob Speak and John Lund match each other push for push in their heat. But there were some good drivers from white top right through to flashing amber lights: Stuart Smith, Martin Spiers, Steve Harrison, Karl Roberts...

  3. Stock car racing drivers tend to get a bit bored during the winter break. That's why Rob Speak arranged a special race against four of his buddies from KEEP TURNING LEFT - Gordon Moodie, Barry Goldin, Micky Brennan and George MacMillan Junior. Who will win the Chequered Flag Publishing Christmas Championship?

Click here to find out... and Merry Christmas from all at Chequered Flag Publishing, including the stars of KEEP TURNING LEFT!

  4. As e-readers continue to gain popularity, we've made ebook versions of Keep Turning Left available for sale via the Amazon and Kobo bookstores. Now it's easier than ever to read about Gordon Moodie while you're on the move or Chris Bradbury while you're at the beach!

And don't forget that a proportion of the cover price from every copy sold goes to help the BriSCA F2 Benevolent Fund, and every little helps!

  5. BriSCA F2 now has its own book! Keep Turning Left is available to pre-order now from the Chequered Flag Publishing website (www.chequeredflagpublishing.co.uk)

  6. Paul Harrison's book My Time, describing his time as World Champion, has now been released!

Paul will be signing copies at the at the following stock car meetings:

    Coventry, Sat 3rd November 5:30-6:30

Belle Vue, Sun 11th November 12:30-1:30

Pop along to the EdCreations stall to meet him and have him sign your copy!

  7. The proofs have been cleared by Paul Harrison - not long now until My Time is released...

A certain Andrew Smith says: "Like Paul, I know what it is like to have that burning desire to emulate your father and become stock car World Champion. Paul's story of winning gold after 23 attempts and the twelve months that followed give a great insight into the determination and perseverance that is required of a top stock car driver."

Paul Harrison certainly isn't afraid to put his opinion in print. In My Time, he exclusively reveals:

    • His opinions on Sworder, the Wainman brothers, Newson and the other top drivers
    • The conversation with a sports psychologist that helped him win the World Final
    • How Craig Finnikin cheated his way to the silver roof (read the book before you jump to conclusions!)
    • Why Andy Smith needs to come out of retirement
    • His real thoughts on the 2012 World Final

Interested? Still time to pre-order your copy!

  8. Following on from the success of Gold Top: The John Lund Story, I'm excited to reveal the second motorsport book by Chequered Flag Publishing. This time, we've engaged a World Champion as an author!

"I just feel that my time has come."

When Paul Harrison uttered those words before the Formula 1 Stock Car World Final in 2011, he was about to make history. It was the culmination of a life spent trying to match his father's achievement and wear the gold roof that signifies the World Champion.

Paul Harrison tells the story of his year as World Champion, revealing the determination and willpower that is required to remain at the top of stock car racing. From the exhilaration of victory to the pressure of performing under the gold roof, MY TIME is a unique behind-the-scenes account of this brutal motorsport.

Available for pre-order from the Chequered Flag Publishing website, and trackside from 1st November wherever the EdCreations merchandise stall is in attendance.

  9. I've gradually been getting rid of my back colection of Stock Car Magazines on ebay, but I've got a good few left and need the space!

There are 64 magazines. How about £31 for the lot? You know you want to!

Most are in excellent condition. A few have the centrefold photos missing.

I can bring them along to a meeting - either the World Final or another one by arrangement - or can sort out a reasonable postage deal. I'll split them if nobody wants the lot.
