Very sad to read this.   Although we talked it about it several times, I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person.   I can't say for certain that Roger's Oval Racing Pages was the very first stock car website when it appeared in 1997, but it was definitely the first one to gain any kind of traction. Roger also organised a group chat system via email (this was before even before chat boards and forums had been invented), and it was through this that I had many an interesting discussion with Roger and others.

Truly one of the pioneers of getting stock car racing on the internet.

My thoughts are with all those that he leaves behind.

Well said Carl. Rogers Website was the place to go to for information back in the day. I was lucky to be able to contribute to it on occasions. I don't think Rodger would agree with me here, but, as you say,  he really was a pioneer.

  2. It has been brought to my attention that sadly Roger Venison has passed away. Anybody who knew him would know that he started one of the first (if not the first) Stock Car Websites - Rogers Oval Pages.

He was a really kind and friendly guy and will be missed by so many. My thoughts are with his family and closest friends at this most difficult of times.  RIP Roger

Personally I think both formula are doing a fine job! (F1 and f2 !!!!!!!!) F1 a more humorous commentary and f2 is like being at the meeting , both are great but very different, also all the people moaning about it should realise the amount of time people are putting in to running things like this , for me personally it has been a couple of hours on a Saturday and sunday night when you can forget about the problems in the world at the moment, so let's get behind this till racing starts again and maybe even run a winter series (f1 and f2) in the off season , but if you dont like what you see, dont watch it simple!!! , for me it's a big thumbs up to kane Morgan sarge and paul Hines (f1) and jamie ward Charlie guinchard dave Goddard zoe simpson etc (f2)

    Who's moaning ??

I'm only seeing constructive criticism to make something good, GREAT!!

Unless this board is frequented by snowflakes of course, or people who have very selective reading skills, because I have said all along how much I appreciate the effort being put in by everbody.

The entertainment value of Windows and ECL is good as in-between race fillers, but someone actually watching and commenting on the races is better as a racing experience. Combine both approaches and get Duncana to do the race commentary allowing ECL more time to read his phone........

HUGE thanks to all the guys putting these shows together, the suppliers of the equipment to stage the racing and to the drivers putting their reputations on the line!

This stuff is very different to the real thing!

Not a truer word said. If Duncana isn't available, I'll throw Aly Ox and Steve Linfield into the ring... or even Mr Skegness Kaleta. Just don't get Nick Knowles though.. he still doesn't know many drivers names after watching them race and commentating on them  week in, week out for 20 years! Even though he's a really decent bloke and MC (MC being very different to commentary).

Wasnt Serge a character from Beverly hills cop a slight effeminate shop assistant so perhaps suites Sarge to the ground

I personally am enjoying the texts and banter from others watching Serge(Sarge) and window boy keep up the good work

Dont see many others jumping to the challange in these trying times

If you want to see how not to do this sort of thing then watch the F2 series dull has dish water

They could even get drivers to ring in during  racing to give a little banter back to Statler and Waldorf

Heres hoping we get back to the tracks soon and hope everybody keeps well

    Who's dull ?? I want some of his/her dishwater. 😁

Joking aside, where is this F2 series? Facecloth, youtube ? I might just take a look and draw my own conclusions.

Hi everyone thanks for the great feed back we will take on everything we can :) camera angles can be a issue as it auto chanages to each camera outside the track and the only way i can change car is by going in order up and down the leader board. when somone at the front crashes this means i need to make loads of jumps to get back to the front of pack. i will chat with the UK dirt guys and see if there is anything we can do to change this. we all have to remember this game is 15 years old so some parts to it are outdated. i will take on what people have said on this post and othe posts across the web and try to make it Alot better for next week. none of us are 'pros' Im normally running round the pits switching gopro cameras on and off all night at a meeting. so this streaming stuff is new to all of us at the BSCDA PR team. I think we are doing a decent job compared to others and we will only get better from here. thanks to everyone for the huge support shown for the free content we are pumping out :)

Thanx for the reply JC. I appreciate it isn't easy and that your still learning, hence why I have tried to be kind and diplomatic, something which is difficult for me, as I tend to call a spade a spade.

I doubt if you will get the time, but if you do.... ask your dad if he has any copies of the tv program 'wheels'. It was a Anglia TV program which used to film and broadcast Speedway, Cycling, Carriage driving and Stock Car racing. Their editing used to be very good at following the leader but also picking out any action behind.- It may give you an idea or inspiration on what kinda works. If he doesn't have it, try watching a JSD video on youtube.. again, Jonathan used to be good at editing. Unfortunately, both had the pleasure of not having to edit live !! Something which you are having to do and I dont envy you one bit, as I can only guess at how difficult it probably is.

I don't know if my advice will be a help or hindrance, but like you I'm only trying to move the project forward and help it grow. As the e-racing IS entertaining just a bit difficult at times to follow. But do keep it rolling JC, I'm confident you'll get there 😊

    Excellent interview.....

Just as a side issue, would it be an idea to approach some ex-racers to do some short interviews to get their ideas and views and reminisce to perk us up a bit?

    Peter Falding

    Jayne Bean.

    The Wolf

    Willie

There are many many others worthy of sharing their memories

    Just an idea….

If its been broached then no problem

That idea has kind of already been mentioned in this thread https://forum.stoxnet.com/topic/33373-off-track-lockdown-with-roger-bromiley-available-now/

with King John being a contender.

Certainly a man who could give an insight into how much the cars and sport has changed. That and I consider him to be an old skool proper stock car driver 👍

To the Producers of the Stream who are clearly still experimenting

I found week 2 much easier to watch than week 3

Week 2 was a huge improvement in following the racing continuity.
Week 3 seemed to revert back to disjointed jumping about from one angle to another.

and Serge should try ignoring texts during a race ......................

I totally agree with you Rod. I actually gave up after the heats though and switched to doing something else.

I know I will get shot down in flames for this but... aren't commentators supposed to commentate on whats going on ? Both missed the start of one race as they were chatting like 2 guys in the pub!

I do applaud Sarge and Paul for giving it a go and both can be very entertaining, but its a bit hard to follow the racing when all they are talking about is how big is de kock ? I think that joke went passed it's sell buy date on week 2.

I'll give it another go next week hoping that its better. Hopefully JC will see this feedback and take it on board, as apart from the things I have raised I really do appreciate the effort which has been put in by everyone.

Best tar racing I’ve ever seen...😉😀

I totally agree.. Loads of crashes again 😊

I liked the idea of a leaderboard, certianly helped me to follow who was where. Camera angles in the main were a lot better too.

But Tom Harris as a white top !!?? Yes, yes, I know it's online racing and not "real" racing but he ain't gonna be that c**p surely, unless he is using a 90's keyboard.

Commentators should maybe start drinking a little later .......................... perhaps ?

Technically speaking a Commentator shouldn't be drinking whilst carrying out his duties.

Mind you, from the stories I heard that didn't stop Graham Brown of Trackstar fame. No wonder no one could understand what he was saying.

It wasn't a complaint. Absolutely amazing to get this up and running and get so many drivers online. I was just commenting on the fact that you said to Steve that the stream never went down and it must have been a glitch at his end. Was concerned that you weren't aware of the loss of coverage and wanted to highlight when it happened so that you could look into it if necessary.

Indeed Dave. I, like you, am not complaining, just trying to point out the glitchs that need smoothing out of something which was very entertaining, to try and make it Highly entertaining.

I'm sure Dave, like me, has every confidence that Jordan @JCProductions will learn as time progresses and congratulate him and everybody else (including banned drivers) on what they achieved in such a short space of time. 😊

hi steve thanks for all the feed back ! i will ensure i take on board as much as possible for next week. the facebook stream never did go down this would have been a glitch your end (facebook is great like that lol).  driver interviews were not planned before stream, i hope to work out a system to do this next week. the whole event was sorted in 5 days so a few teething issues still to fix like proper results ect. but we will do out best. we cant thank the fans enough for tuning in to our first even online event.

    Your welcome mate 👍

  13. I wouldn't say it went without a glitch, because at one point on the facebook feed we did loose video.

However, I will say that yes it was a sterling effort by all involved and yes window Hines and Sarge did add to the spectacle with dubious double entendres. Sarge calling Charlie Sworder to interview him was a good idea to (even if you couldn't really hear Charlie much).

Plus there wasn't a que for the Fish and Chips, a Mildenhall first!!

Could it be improved ? Unfortunately, yes. Being able to hear the driver being intervied would be nice, less camera angles or flicking between shots (mate of mine had to stop watching it or he would of got a migraine) and facecloth not constantly buffering (cured that by hopping onto youtube). But as I said above it was a brilliant effort in such a short space of time 👍 and was really enjoyable. Just needs a few tweaks here and there... perhaps stick to 4 exterior camera's + the onboard ones and get someone like Steve Linfield or Alistair Oxby to team up with a current driver to do the commentary to make it a little more professional. (You never know if Joe Bloggs will come across it on youtube and actually bring the family to a proper real life meeting when things do get back to normal.)

Good thing it wasn't real life though, there would be a ton of damage to repair! And it probably would of got a 10 out 10 RR rating

Great entertainment. Window Boy and ECL did a fantastic job. Thanks to all involved in bringing it to us isolated armchair fans.

Bonus for the night is that there is no 4 hour drive home.

That and I think thats the quickest run Mildenhall meeting EVER and full of bumper action to 👍

    Ok, I’ll ask

What time do gates Open? Can we take our own food/drink?
    Are chairs allowed?

    😀

That question has already been asked and answered in this thread https://forum.stoxnet.com/topic/33339-on-line-racing/

The answer by Counter552 was :

"Not to watch it on facebook or youtube, only to race online in the ukdirt leagues.

"This event is only open to real life drivers to race, everyone else can watch with as much food, drink, seating etc as they have available at home with access to facebook or youtube."

Perhaps it might be a god idea for the Mods to merge the 2 threads as there seems to be a fair amount of overlap.

THE BOOKING LIST IS FINALLY RELEASED

This Saturday sees the BriSCA F1 drivers return to Mildenhall to do battle......from their own homes and it's a truly European feel!

That's right, the BSCDA have teamed up with the UK Dirt Online Racing Team, with special thanks to Kane Morgan, to bring you some virtual BriSCA F1 racing live on Facebook and YouTube - just like/follow BSCDAF1 on both platforms.

We also have special guest commentators to take you through the nights racing. Those are:

Mark 'The East Coast Legend' Sargent
    Paul 'Why So Serious' Hines

We hope you can join us for what looks set to be a fantastic nights racing and we're sure the two commentators will be at their comedy best!

Perhaps you could contact a proper commentator to be onboard also to add that bit of normality?
