  1. What terrible news. I've been fortunate to chat to him at Belle Vue on many occasions over the years. Always took the time to give me his witty perspective on numerous aspects of the sport. The guy was a legend for all the right reasons and will be sadly missed. RIP Tim, my condolences to his family.

  2. Thanks Roy, I currently own my 2nd TVR and was fortunate to visit the factory in probably its busiest period in the early `90's. They had the Chimera protoype being built; it was top secret so they told us not to take photos of it! that's it! no signing disclosure agreements or anything. Peter Wheeler was at the helm back then; a giant lanky framed bloke with a keen eye for vehicle design and seemingly keener one for recruiting supermodels as staff there!

  3. Slightly O/T (forgive me) on what platform does uk dirt operate*? is it via a gaming console or PC*? looks very good; somehow it's passed me by. maybe `cos I have more time on my hands of late for some reason...………..?

I took a look on the website, but the answers to my questions are not obvious (to me anyhow)

any info, what controllers are used (I can't drive with a key pad!) , how easy it is to set up etc appreciated

    *thanks in anticipation

  4. I was fortunate enough to attend yesterdays final banger meeting. All banger classes were epic and very entertaining. (Oh, and I got there an hour before start time and there were plenty of places to stand.)

I'm unable to attend this Saturdays meeting so I bade it my farewells and wished Reesy the very bestest, thanking him for his efforts over the years.

    Now its your turn folks.

enjoy responsibly. when its gone its gone...…...... :nopity: RIP Stoke speedway

  5. Come on...let's have some more F1s...not only is this a celebration year, but could (sadly) see the demise of the great "Belle Vue" era.

I hope there may be a big celebration event later in the season at the 'Vue??? :comeon:

The banger fraternity have certainly responded. theres an unlimited meeting later this year with a great entry already.

PS- Great to see Sir John back out

  6. That'd likely be her; Unless the results are my uncles (who also raced #70)

she was MPP ladies champion at least once, with an article in the local rag about her successes.

The mini cooper S was built by Alan Reece (another ex-F1 driver #208?) but he didn't like it and sold it to my uncle who I think got to blue top with it. The engine & box from it ended up in my road car in 1981 for terrifying local fast fords from the traffic lights. :whistling:

  7. The pic is DEFINITELY White City, photo taken looking toward scoreboard end- the pits entrance was behind this corner- the only one without a grandstand. The car was raced by Keith Steward (any relation to Harry Steward ?) #100 / #170. which was seriously underpowered compared to the F1's and wasn't that competitive in the Hell Drivers. Keith Riley #323 (related to John I think) had a "sawn off" Jaguar (the black widow) which was seriously quick compared to most other racers in the Hell Driver class.

my Auntie (Audrey Pollitt #70) regularly won ladies races in those days-racing my uncles Mini - often up against Rovers & Jags.
