  8. I suppose this will come under the fuel cost thread. I tried an experiment travelling to Scotland to try and save fuel and keep travelling costs down. Drafting (slipstreaming) has been in use in motorsport for many years and you often see trucks travelling in convoy on the motorway. When I got onto the motorway, I found a suitable drafting partner (post office artic) and stayed in its slipstream for the best part of 2 hours. It is a little boring but my campervan was sat comfortabley at 60mph the whole time and my foot was only resting on the accelerator. When I arrived at Cowdie (230 miles) I had used only about a quarter of a tank of deisel. On the way home I tried to do the same but as the motorway was really quiet, I ended up with my foot down a little more. The consequence was using a more fuel on the way home but I still arived home with well over a quarter of a tank left. This journey normally uses a full tank plus perhaps another 10 litres to be on the safe side. It may well be worth the drivers and fans getting involved and having drafting buddies which would really offset fuel costs over very long journeys
