    Oval Racing Show

Hi. The following is part of a post made on the National Hot Rod Website forum today. "With the NHR World Final set to be one of the most keenly contested WF’s of recent times Oval Racing UK are trying to put a package together to ensure the race & indeed the supporting formulas/races are used to full effect to promote the sport in the best possible way on Sky Sports. We intend producing two programmes: A World Final Special covering the build up, the race (edited as required) & the post race celebrations. Possibly fitting in a race from another formula or Sundays NHR action. Prog 2 will have the rest of the days best races – Lightning Rod European, Superstox National, 1300/2L Saloons & 2L Hot Rods etc. Any other footage may be used on World Motorsport. We intend making ‘Oval Racing ’ a fortnightly programme on Sky Sports starting with the NHR World Final. Further meetings to be covered include the Saloon Stock Car World, BriSCA F1 World & GN Champs. Further meetings will be announced soon." I've left the rest out as it went pretty in depth about sponsorship costs for the NHR WF programmes. Hope this helps Ham
  5. Autograss have left Lochgelly altogether now Trav. Did a moonlight flit was the version of events i was told..lol. Kinross is their permanent home now which for anyone interested is about 10 Mins further up the M90 than the Cowdenbeath turn off. P.S. Another voice of support for the Truckers here Hope everyone makes it north in time as well though.

    Ipswich WF Camping?

Hi. We've used Orwell Meadows Campsite for the Hot Rod Spedeweekend for about 8 years now. It is about 5 mins drive from the track and also only very easily accesed from the A14. (First exit after the orwell bridge, entrance about 100 yards from the end of the slip road.) It is spotless and the people who work there are great. It has a bar but i'm not sure if it is still open in late September (The Bar that is.) CLICKY LINKY Not sure if i'm going yet but will be stopping here if i am.
  7. In defence of the too few cameras comments there was another camera sited at the entrance to the pit bend (for saloons, exit for 1s or 2s) that was destroyed by the front bumper of a saloon while it was barrel rolling down the back straight during their first heat. Same there was no mention or footage of that, i guess it was not retrievable as the camera looked very 2nd hand when the guy was picking the pieces up afterwards (after he'd changed his underwear presumably) The program overall was ok but not brilliant for me. I questioned the choice of meeting at the time and have not changed my opinion now i've seen it. I thought the F2 & NHR meeting at Birmingham 2 or 3 weeks later would have been far better for both action and car numbers. Hot rods at Cowdenbeath are not a sight for television, but the Northampton footage was good. I've no objection to features like the one at the start on JJJ. Pity though there was lots of mention of the gold roof and travelling distance to qualifiers and preparation for the 2008 season when the driver in question has made no effort to qualify for the world final so far. The idea and basis of the program are good and it will improve a lot. F1's and well attended NHR and F2 meetings must surely form the bulk of most programs for it to be a success though.
  8. I can't see the Stock Rod World Final at Cowdenbeath affecting the crowd at Ipswich too much

  12. I was at the last "last ever meeting at Cowdenbeath" almost 20 years ago. It was just a 1 day meeting and at the end of November as well i seem to recall and was a right gloomy affair indeed. Although there were plenty of Visiting drivers in the Saloonstox, Superstox and Hot Rod's there for one last race around the old place you could have counted the crowd on your fingers. If 2008 turns out to be the last year (Gut feeling here is it will be) then i'd go for making the Saloon WF meeting the last ever and make it a proper big 3 day carnival weekend in August sometime instead of a dreary Sunday at the end of October.
