  1. I'm sure the 2019 World Final will be fantastic .. always a great venue and lots of action. But being held this year in East Anglia, a shame some creative thinking couldn't have happened - I remember the good old days of the 2-track World Weekends between say Ipswich & Wisbech or Skeggy & Boston and had a thought ... First of all we need to bring back crowds (Steve Rees is right!). But to do that you have to put on a real show and entertainment, both on and off the track. No time any more for political differences ... we need to do some creative thinking and really market it. So... completely off the wall ... what a whopper it would be to have : Saturday Kings Lynn F1 World Final ending with the first leg of a UK vs Holland Challenge Match (new World Champion to be one of the team captains) followed by Super Sunday at the huge Ipswich Bowl - F1 World Masters plus 2nd leg of the UK vs Holland Challenge Match : F2 vs Superstox Team Challenge Match : Saloon Stock Cars with a proper championship to race for that day : Lots of on- and off-track driver/fan interaction activities & games. Now tell me how many F1 addicts / general motorsport fans wouldn't enjoy THAT! And as it's pretty well after the speedway season, some more creative thinking could involve use of the Foxhall shale too ... The ground would thunder in the Bowl ... the action would be intense ... the fans could relish an almost football-like UK vs Holland match ... And it is SOOO easy for our Dutch driver friends to come en masse and also get home as Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry crossing is only just down the road! If they are still in the game this year then Premier Sports could publicise and ramp up the event on TV too .. and build up the rivalries & personalities during the earlier season .. My thinking is that the best ever days of Spedeweekends in East Anglia were when there were lots of formulas and things like team races. Given good publicity, the fans flocked in when otherwise crowds weren't always brilliant. The old Spedeweekends were always shown "live" on ITV ... remember Dicky Davies presenting it on World of Sport? I think, given the right spirit from drivers, fans and those who can help to promote the sport more excitingly to a wider motorsport audience, it could just work and bring some high profile and benefits back to the sport we all love. But as I say, just a thought. Or is it?! ...
