  1. Lovely memories Carl H Thank You Belle Vue 6th Oct 1962 was my first ever Stock car Meeting ! Alan Wardropper (245) and his dad (5) were some of my favourites in 1962. 38 Fred Mitchell was too. We got to the meeting on the 210 trolley Bus. Saturday 6th October 1962 Ken Freeman was a pioneering car builder in the very early days of the sport, and cars being put together in the late 1990s still showed signs of his influence. But aside from being an innovative engineer, he was also an accomplished driver, and this final at Coventry was just one of the 43 he won, making him the 30th all-time highest final winner. At Belle Vue the same night, Alan Wardropper won the main event.
  2. Brillant turnout for November and it must be the best at the Vue for quite a few years. Will be rooting for the Tesselaar brothers for coming the furthest to race. Really looking forward to it !
  3. Lets hope that this number goes up nearer to the 40 mark. For me that is a disappointingly low number, especially when most of the registered drivers signed the "Save Belle Vue" petition. I'll still be there though ! !
  4. Brilliant. Just 3 Formulas at last for Belle Vue And to be fair, I read that the admission price has been reduced as well, if that's correct then well done Mr Promotor !
  5. That's great news. For me that would make the long Ipswich trek worthwhile as I could make a weekend of it.
  6. So am I Ged. I agree with you on all your points and I still don't buy the argument that the drivers don't go because they have work the day after. It is a shame that we don't even get near 40 cars these days and I will actually miss the place, but for me 4 formula 4 to 5 hr meetings and low number F1 cars have spoiled things somewhat. But i'll still be there, maybe ?
  7. No. ! 17 races. 4 formulas again. Got to be well over 4hrs . But be careful Ged Reek, if you express an opinion on here you get slated. At least you are local in Stockport some of us are 2 hrs away
  8. Sorry , but after thinking long and hard about a 29 car turnout, 17 races, which will probably take nearly 5 hours and a long drive home on a terribly busy M6 I have decided to stay at home. I think you have to ask the drivers themselves why they don't support BV and I don't think it is just the fact of work the day after. Traditional Sunday meetings with work the day after still drew far more than 29 cars. Maybe its the 4 + caravan formulas, maybe its the post and wire fence. Sad to say, but will we really miss BV and its meetings these days ? ? Not sure I will.
  9. The only good things about this very poor turnout are the fact that it could hopefully go up , and the fact that 410 Jelle Tesselaar is racing and he was brilliant the last time he came to BV and won the Final.
  10. Always been a big problem at the "New" Belle Vue. Shortage of F1s and too many other formulas. Shame.
  11. Hary , are all the "De Vries" related to each other ?
  12. Pleased , but very surprised that BV is on today. Hope the terraces are safe and not full of snow and ice. !
  13. What amazes me is that Belle Vue in a big city with great motorway access, plenty of reasonably local drivers and pretty good facilities for drivers and especially for fans, can only get 29 drivers while Skegness, out in the countryside, miles from any motorways and fairly basic facilities especially regarding weather cover, can attract 50 drivers. Its so awkward to get to but I expect we will be going if the weather forcast is dry. Please drivers why don't you all support Belle Vue a bit more ?
