Over the last few years myself and Hazel have worked on our relationship with the local council etc and if fact I sit round the table with a number of councillors on various tourism related items and Skegness Stadium does have a lot of input into promoting Skegness and the coast on a national level.
I too wish Rob every success with the track, however the previous owners did upset the local council on several occasions, they are probably all new councilors
now but Vince Moody drove them mad putting advertising posters on everything he could find and only stopped when a custodial sentence was threatened. (Anyone remember those giant hoardings he used to put pictures of Bobby Burns car on) and Hazel put up the floodlighting towers and tried retro planning that was subsequently rejected and they were taken down. The council are also I believe reponsible for insisting the place is all painted in that ghastly dark green so as to blend in with the fields. They should be celebrating the place as a valuable asset not trying to hide it.
Hopefully Rob will forge better a relationship and get the track the recognition it deserves as a great tourist attraction for skegness and a great track for us BriSCA F1 purists to visit half a dozen times a year for some of the best tar racing to be found anywhere.
Skegness has been fantastic at promoting the venue .... posters everywhere..... cars driving round town with boards on it ..... displays outside the shopping centre .... certainly can't knock them for it to be honest
