  1. I would imagine high teens at best. It needed a Birmingham the night before, and to be put the weekend after this one on the fixture list.
  2. Nigel I think that's where the issue lies. My guess would be that 346 was not lapped before the yellows came out for 169, and as such he did not loose a lap. The incident with 211 did not cost him a significant amount of time.
  3. Regarding the closure, are there diversions in place from the end of the road?
  4. Linky has absolutely summed up what this thread is about... It isn't one discussing the much missed Coventry, but one which is trying to understand why shale turnouts in particular have significantly declined. The relevance is a few years ago, a Saturday night Midlands shale track was getting 60+ cars, fast forward and we have a Saturday night Midlands shale track struggling to get 30. Whilst there is probably no one answer, it is a worthwhile debate and certainly should prompt the BSCDA to ask their members why they aren't racing, and more importantly what can be done to make a difference. I've attended quite a few Shale meetings this year, and there seems to be around 30 core drivers doing the majority...taken from the registered list of 100+, that is really quite a small number. The season started on a real high at the KL opener, it would be a real shame if it all just fizzled out...
  5. Anita, the comments in my post were certainly not moans...more musings as to why this fixture has such a low turnout. On paper, a Saturday night shale fixture in the Midlands, and 23 UK drivers racing...it would suggest something really wrong, and needs the BSCDA to understand why this isn't attractive to the drivers.
  6. If I'm honest, a little baffled by this. I thought the sport 'needed' a Midlands shale venue, following the demise of Coventry. If this fixture was at the aforementioned track, we would have seen around 60 cars. That we are seeing half this number poses a number of questions.. Do drivers not like NIR as a shale venue? Are we seeing the fruition of the travelling circus, where the small number racing shale this year cannot sustain the number of meetings? Is the preference now tarmac? Whatever the answers, it certainly is a real shame...
  7. Excellent numbers, pleased to see the drivers supporting this fixture considering costs, distance from Skegness etc
  8. The rulebook hasn't changed as far as I'm aware. If a driver does not take his place on the semi final grid, the first reserve is used. In this case Neil Scothern. If he is not in attendance the place goes to the second reserve and so on. It has always been the case that if the first reserve chooses not to race, they cannot then go in the second semi final, if another driver were to pull out.
  9. ...the gap I refer to is the one between Will and Roger now that Todd Jones is not there.
  10. Rule still the same, Gap left on the grid, and reserve on his own at the rear. However once the rolling lap starts, that gap is going to gradually disappear.
  11. If all goes to plan, Roger (14) will be taking his place on the grid in a 'proven' shale car...
  12. Roger, definitely 9th in the Final, beating Joff (249) by millimeters.
