  1. I very much doubt pit access will ever be a thing again. Certainly not while meetings are 'live'.
  2. I generally enjoy these but as I live around four miles away from all of this, this one was a bit more interesting. I have always been aware of all these buildings but have learned loads within this. Thank you for it all Roy. Can I ask where you found all of this information from? I had no idea about the tram way running up to Pule Hill or that the large building was a ventilation shaft, I always assumed it was a derelict pump house. You were lucky you weren't landed on by a rogue hang glider, there's often loads chucking themselves off the top.
  3. Having seen todays pictures of the shale arriving are there any grown ups out there who know how this all works? The shale looks to be going down about 200mm thick. Does it all bond together to give a clay like consistency which generally just creates a bit of lose surface or does it retain lose consistency throughout its depth? I've never given it much thought before so wondering how it doesn't all end up stacked by the fence after the first race?
  4. Just looking at their web sight, looks as if you can pay via credit cards too. This Sunday's meeting for F2, V8s, Super Bangers and Stoxcarts is accepting payment on the turnstile until they reach capacity. Some dude called Speak racing along with Jessica Smith. If I weren't going to Lynn on Saturday I reckon I'd pop up there myself.
  5. Bye 'eck, that's champion. Looking forrad to seein' t'new Yorkshire superstar young Fairhurst shine now we've nicked him from over t'border.
  6. Neigh, strictly Sheffield. As anyone from Yorkshire will tell you, if it ain't from Yorkshire, it ain't worth botherin' wi. Appen give that new fangled affair i' Bradford a go if it comes off mind.
  7. Loons at Sheffield with 'that' fence. That's going to interesting. Suppose things will depend on the weather, I can recall them being on here before but it was very soggy out on track so the speeds were kept down. The add has done it's job mind, I've just gone from a probable to a definite.
  8. I think it's not necessarily about winning titles and with that in mind I reckon the two most entertaining drivers this last decade have been Rob Speak and Mick Sworder. To think a charity appearance one off at Belle Vue hauled in sufficient WF points to get on the back of a semi final grid, a borrowed car for that and 318 had a reasonable WF start position. Ended up upside down but it was enough, with backing from Davidson, to entice him back. Single surface to begin but then with the addition of a shale car a full challenge was made resulting in two silver and one gold roof. My memory isn't great on such things but I seem to recall him with half a lap lead in the final at Stoke going for his fourth consecutive final victory when a puncture occurred. Mick Sworder, what a showman! Also began on a single surface - seem to recall him lapping faster than the tooz at Hednesford in his first season. I think his best performances have been on shale, however. I've never seen anyone drive Belle Vue as spectacularly and some of his performances at Kings Lynn seem to have redefined how other drivers race there now. One of the best things about Mick winning though, is him getting hold of the mike post race and watching the commentator cringe as the air turns blue. If I have to choose between them I reckon I'd go 318. The drive to win the WF at Lynn against a massively in form 390 and 515 was - despite all the other dramas that night - phenomenal.
  9. This has just become a must do event and I'm not relating this to the inclusion of John Lund. The prospect of seeing Mick Sworder race the Vue one last time has to be seen. Can't wait to see the 150 machine being sent sideways half way down the straight; Might not be as quick a line as John Dowson's but no-one else that I can ever think of drives Belle Vue more spectacularly than Sworder. Made my day, that has.
  10. As others have said, it'll be a massive shame to say goodbye. Complete dump but some of the racing here has been among the best. The first couple of meetings with the bumps were absolutely top drawer to watch, shame the drivers didn't agree. Could never understand why Startrax didn't run more F1 meetings here.
  11. Saloons post n wire Seeing what a massive part the wall at kl plays in most loon manoeuvres, this could be quite interesting... They have raced there before. From memory they were OK.
  12. According to the fixture list in the link above both Sat and sun are both shootout rounds.
  13. What are people's thoughts about the grid and who may withdraw? Charlie Sworder on shale? Nigel Green may not be fit in time?
