Shootout final winners

17 October 2016 - 09:38 PM

Realised today that all 8 final winners so far have been Shootout contenders.

This has never happened before - have they upped their game this season ?

November Coventry

02 October 2016 - 11:18 PM

The fixture list on the Coventry website has had this down all year as having no support formula.

I assume this was because it was going to be the 'last ever' so the promoters were confident that everybody (drivers and spectators) would want to be there so it would probably be a bigger meeting with an extra heat, 2 consolations and 2 GNs, but this is not necessarily the case now.

In previous years they have run a couple of extra races for the W&Y Championship and the Track Championship and I imagine that will happen again this year.

However, this still means we are potentially looking at just 8 races for £20 (or £21 if previous policy is applied) with long delays with nothing happening while cars that are in consecutive races are given time to repair and prepare.

I know some people will think that a pure F1 meeting is preferable, but we could have the situation where some drivers are in the W&Y race, the Track Championship and Heat 1. This means there will be 'down time' between each race which will then also occur after Heat 3, Consolation, and Final.

All well and good in the summer months but not so great on a cold and miserable November night.

My better half has persuaded a few of her work colleagues to come and have a look what it is all about and bring their kids along as well. Long gaps between races are fine for the regulars who know what is going on and can have a wander round the pits, etc. but it is hardly going to make these people want to come back again if they end up spending half their night looking at an empty track.

Hopefully the promoter will see sense and bring in a support formula for a few races just to fill in the gaps (and I don't mean Micro F2s or Stoxkarts !!).

Heritage question

20 August 2016 - 08:25 PM

How is a 16 year old car considered to be eligible for 'heritage' racing and what happened to the rule that cars on coil springs were not allowed to race ?
