Didn't avoid sun burn no! Well one side of my face did
Enjoyed my day at Scunthorpe, format was a good choice, track preparation was good, although maybe a few minutes with the grader going round might have helped? Good hard and fast racing. All done and dusted (excuse the pun) by half 4ish. Good stuff. Dotd - 1. Hope everyone avoided the sun burn..... Almost... there's a patch on the back of my leg that I missed with the sun cream. Another great session at Scunthorpe. The latter parts of both the Final and GN were a dustbowl, but otherwise a good solid session of stock car racing. DOTD - I really can't give it to anyone except 463 James Morris, for that absolutely stunning performance in the Consolation. Whoever was in front of him, he fired them in the fence. Pity he was a lap down, although from where I was standing it did look as though Ms Starter was indicating him as leader for a few laps. Another cracker at what is in danger of fast becoming my favourite track.
DOTD. I'm going for 4; Dan Johnson for his heat win performance. Andy Smith didn't seem to have any chance of catching him and, as he won the final, Dan was faster in my strange form of logic. R/R 8 (would have been 9 if they'd have let 76 finish with the tyre on) |

Another good afternoon all round. Every race eventful in one way or another.
Poor 84 on recieving end again; first taken out by a renagade yellow whilst certain to win cons after the same renagade yellow took out the two previous race leaders; then blasted away by i think 515 after the chequered in the final. Good comeback by 259 to win G/N after a rotten meeting up to then. 4 outpacing 1 in the heat. 390 looking more like it; how did he lose that big lead in heat 1? But DotD - 1. another Andy Smith masterclass in the final. R/R - 8 -------------------- BEDwetters wet the bed - BETwetters know better

My first visit to the Scunthorpe raceway and although I now have the shale from the back straight lining my bath tub I thoroughly enjoyed it today. Good hard sideways racing throughout the programme, even the kids in the mini's throwing it into the corners and hoping it stuck.
Observations on first visit - as before mentioned, track could've done with grading halfway through as very little shale left on racing line by end of meeting hence the dust, viewing could be better - banking along the back straight and turns 3/4 to enable better view/less shale in car on way home and could do with more than one food outlet as missed mini consolation waiting in a lenghty queue along with a few irate others. Any other day my vote would go to 1 Andy Smith for superb and sometimes one handed sideways driving, but to avoid being called predictable my d.o.d goes to: 235 John Weldon. First meeting out, qualified for the final and although off the pace wasn't afraid to stick to racing line which resulted in him receiving several big hits in the process. R/R 7/10 points lost for reasons mentioned above. -------------------- That's not his back bumper . . . thats my front brake
The olympics should be held in Rochdale-Gold & Silver are already there! . |

R/R 6, dunno why but the meeting lacked momentum, didnt seem to be much of an atmosphere either, in fact it reminded me a bit of swindon, afternoon meetings on shale dont work for me, was impressed at how much water the bowser could spurt out compared with other tracks. bowser rating 10/10
DOD 76 for comedy moment only, and for just carrying on while he could -------------------- bring back hoosiers

Enjoyed it, cracking little track, great catering staff etc. brill PA, seemed very slow clear-up (but what was the rush with only 2 formulas on) Could have done with modlites or something else on rather than just 2 formula. Good day though and enjoyed it muchos
DotD 76 for leading the race with a tyre 'wrapped round his head!' RR 8/10 Some good action allround - Well watered track, would have liked to see it graded and tidied up but was decent enough Mentions for some great action in the heats, cracking ministox rollover followed by great a dive from the ministox safety guy on the back straight!
