Heat 2 was the best of the heats - very fast. We had wind, rain, sun and hail all at one meeting....thought I was at Buxton for a while!
Final was average for the first 3 quarters....fwj & Co got a break, then everyone just settled down all going fast but with no real progress. 5 or so to go 1 started to drive the corners instead of drifting round them (Everyone elses tyres were squealing) and came from nowhere to 3rd and then a superb hit on the leaders for the win. Also drove very well in the heat with some very well timed moves.
198 was also going very well from yellow in the new FWJ ... could soon be back to red off todays performance
515 seemed quicker than last time I saw him too .... 424 trying hard again & entertaining.
390 more problems...Altercations and damage in Heat 1, and then struggled all night with no brakes and no steering from then on.

dotd 198

quite good meeting today. final was excellent,. brilliant move by 1 on 4 and 515. rr would of been 8 but i am sorry the meeting did drag on a bit. i know there were couple of times when fence needed repairing but to me still took a long time.

also good to see the ministox driver who steamed into the fence at the pit gate was ok.

Agree with Fenny (even though she cant count the cars, eh fenny thumbsup.gif laugh.gif ) bout the mini stox lad, and a great show they put on smile-nod.gif

Driver of the Day = 1 , he took his chance when lady luck smiled and slowed 515 & 4 up

RR = 7, in the programme it actually said " we may regret having 4 formulas" am afraid that was proved correct, the bangers need there own meetings

DOTD 391 Andy Smith

Looked out of contention early on in the final, but as the track dried out simply ate up the distance between himself and the front runners to land the knockout blow on the first bend of the last lap. BV specialist, Nigel Whalley took another couple of wins on the Kirky Lane shale, Joe Booth and Dan Johnson again looked on form, Craig Finnikin was very consistant all afternoon, and good to see John Lund getting a couple of good places from superstar grade also.

R/R 8
I scored Cov a 7, and I thought BV was more entertaining. The first heat was typical BV, action everywhere you looked, the third heat, final and GN were all good races with plenty going on, with 391's last lap assault on 515/4 the main talking point. Some really hard fence impacts, a post needed replacing on the pit bend I think, and generally just proper stock car racing on a proper stock car track. thumbsup.gif

Absolute cracker of a meeting. Only fault was how long it went on. (Is that a bad thing?) What price an armco fence?

DOTD ( and it really, really hurts to say this) 1

Not a big FWJ fan but I was proper gutted for him missing out on (think I'm right here) 250 finals on the next but last bend. Fastest I've seen him go in a long while.

Maybe I was at a different meeting to a few others – I thought this was an absolute belter. I set off for BV this morning from Norwich and for some reason was just expecting it to be fairly average. I hadn't seen the revised booking list which included 16, 390, 1 and as it happened the main talking points from the meeting involved the Smiths…. whistling.gif

R/R: 9/10 Yes it was a long afternoon but I thought the meeting had everything – an over-watered heat 1 resulted in a good race and a clearly frustrated SSJ needlessly turning in on 111 at the start of the home straight, cue the talking points! Then there were changeable weather/race conditions; drivers getting fenced; drivers through the fence (502) and then an excellent end to the final….

With five to go #1 was some distance away in third place At first it looked like 4 would catch 515 but FWJ was managing to keep a safe gap and with two to go looked on for the win.. Then as is typical of FWJ's luck this season, a white top spun on turn 2, thus holding him up and allowing 4 to close in (along with #1 who was now on a real end of race charge). Going into turn one on the last lap #1 potted 4 into 515 and took them both to the fence and into a stranded car – great entertainment. thumbsup.gif

D/D: Has to be #1 for heat and final wins and for providing some excellent stockcar action.

R/R: 9/10
D/D: #1
